Good Chance We're Getting a 100% Easley This Upcoming Season

Marcus Easley? Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if he's first on their free agency list. Imagine him and Slater on punts?

Oh, wait...

If he is 100%, the Pats have their interior pass rush questions answered.

Can't wait to see him

We don't know if a 100% Easley can be the answer in the NFL. High hopes but I mean, until the guy is able to perform at a high level he's an unknown.

It is true, Easley at the moment is more of an athletic ball of clay than an instant impact defender. Both his technique and instincts were questionable coming out of the draft. I'm anticipating his sophomore season will look a lot more like Jaime Collins's rookie year than anything else. He'll have some flashes, but week to week I don't think we'll know what to expect.

I agree. Based on last year we don't have anything concrete to point to that would dictate & predict his 2015 season.

He had 262 unhealthy defensive snaps last year. For me, I saw enough from him to say a healthy Easley is a playmaker on this defense.

Really? I thought he played quite poorly in his snaps last season.

Healthy, the guy he most reminds me of is Aaron Donald.

I'd take that!

But here is the question you have to ask yourself, Fnordie. Where would a healthy Dominck Easley be drafted at if he came out this year healthy.? Another might be who in this draft does Easley's skill set and college production match? Here's a third. What DT in this draft besides Lenard Williams would you pick ahead of him?

This is a quality kid with very rare physical ability. While the injury was a huge negative, the biggest positive on this kid was that he had a HUGE motor, and wants to be great. He also showed a lot of toughness last season, not only trying to recover from the ACL's, but in playing through the shoulder and minor knee injuries that eventually put him on IR

There has been a lot of silence on him thus far. The old out of sight out of mind thing was working here. But I think people are going to be surprised how much of an impact he is going to have on the defense this season. We have seen a continuing development every year of our top 3 guys on our front 6 (Hightower, Jones, and Collins). Why would we doubt that we wouldn't see a similar kind of improvement from Easley.

BTW- Just 2 more days before my Revis prediction goes down the crapper

I thought he was totally invisible. High hopes, though.

Easley didn't demonstrate the explosiveness that many anticipated based on his college tape. But that's probably a combination of (1) recovery from his ACL injury, and (2) learning to play within the structure of BB's system. What he did show was good discipline and versatility along with better edge setting than anticipated. A work in progress, but I'm hopeful that he absorbed enough that BB will start to relax his leash if he's fully healthy.

Did you miss the word "healthy" in his post?

Considering that he had knee and shoulder issues all year he was decent. 10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 stuff.

He was inconsistent for sure. Dont know if it was because he was a rookie or just really hobbled.

Easley has a lot bigger issues than simply health though. People have thrown around the name Aaron Donald, but the 2 are miles apart from an instinct, leverage and a hand usage standpoint. I think those areas were as large of a contributor to his struggles as a rookie as his bad knees were to be honest.

Nothing that can't be solved with experience, but he's not simply health away from being an impact player.
