Bills trade for LeSean McCoy + Matt Cassel

Now we just have extend/resign Revis and McCourty so they can pick him off again. :D

the Bills push them will only make them better next season.

According to some around here that won't be the case because the Pats are letting Revis and McCourty walk while keeping big cap hit with injuries waiting to happen in Wilfork, Mayo, and Amendola.

We all know from seeing it with our own eyes if you protect Matt Cassel and do not ask him to do to much he can make NFL throws. It is a solid move by Rex.
You could say that with a lot of guys...

No. No they don't. Bills have a QB that the Pats have an encyclopedia on.

I think we will take care of them. They look like an interesting 10-6/11-5 type team though.

@AdamSchefter: So Buffalo is planning to go with Matt Cassel at QB and LeSean McCoy at RB, and play lights-out D.

The AFC is crap and that type of team could beat Indy/Pitt/Den.

Bummer, I enjoy rooting for Cassel. Looks like I can't this year though.

Not a bad move for the Bills, either. He's not good, but he's capable of being serviceable. He'll be better than Manuel and Tuel. They still need to retool their OL in a pretty big way, but if they manage to they could have a pretty decent offense.

At least the Bills are making the offseason entertaining.

Bad merge by the mods on this one....

They had nowhere to go but up at QB, though.

I've always rooted for Cassel and the price is right but I don't think that Cassel+McCoy is any better than last year's Orton+Jackson.

I'm not convinced that Cassel is any kind of real answer at QB for them, but there should be no question he's an upgrade over Manuel, and even over what Orton gave them last year.

I welcome an improved Bills team. The prospect of continuing to beat them even with improvements would drive that fanbase bananas :D

The bills are trying and they can definetly make noise. Their D line is
one of the best in the afc.

They still have Jackson, so it's more Cassel/McCoy/Jackson vs. Orton/Spiller/Jackson. The former is much better, mostly because of how bad the latter was.

The first thing that comes to my mind with these moves is this is exactly how Rex's tenure in New York started: Big, flashy moves that seem to improve the team right away. For the the Jets, it worked (relatively) for a couple years and then crashed. I could see a similar thing happening here, but no doubt they should be good this year and maybe next.

Yah I rarely ***** about merges but WTF here? Ended up going thru 10 pages I'd already read looking for Matt C news.

Orton wasn't awful last year, while Cassel was awful when he played.

I mean, that latter group is still nothing to write home about and Spiller was hurt for most of the year and was bad when he did play, but I'm not seeing the "huge upgrade" that everyone else seems to be - probably from nostalgia overriding the actuality of Cassel.

Whatever. Even with good talent around him, Matt Cassel is a caretaker QB and has been oft injured and irrelevant for the last four years.

I'm loving this. Got to give Ryan credit he is going to push hard to make the Bills a good team. I really felt like tough competition made the Patriots a much better team this season and having the Bills push them will only make them better next season.

I don't think we beat Seattle if we don't have that game against the Ravens.

Free agency hasn't even started, and the Bills have already upgraded at QB and WR, for the price of a player that never saw the field and a draft pick that (barring sheer luck) would not have been able to bring back a QB of Cassel's worth.

Good start for that group up there.

McCoy is being dragged to Buffalo kicking and screaming and Cassel is coming back from a broken foot which those sometimes can be tricky and susceptible to being re-injured.

But yep Buffalo is already in the lead to win the off-season SB. Still missing 3 starters on defense though

BTW the Pats just won the actual SB a month ago not that you cared given what your shtick is on here.
