.".....ESPN front office analyst Mark Dominik, the former general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, might have more educated insight on cornerback Darrelle Revis than most......

.......“I think Revis stays in New England, and I think you’re going to see Revis on a more marginal deal,” Dominik said Tuesday on ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” program.......

“I think when you say marginal, look, I know how important winning was for Darrelle Revis. I think as a player, once you get that elixir that your feel you realize it’s not all about anything else. I think he’s looking for a home, and I think he felt like home was there......

I posted this to start a positive thread.

Interesting, I definitely hope he's right. If the Pats can get him for 5/60, they should absolutely do it. Sure, he would be overpaid at the end of the deal, but if the cap is $30M+ higher by then anyway then even on the tail end of that deal he might not be overpaid by too much. I could probably be comfortable justifying a $16M AAV by the same logic, assuming he would be cut after year 4, so $12M AAV is a no-brainer.

Besides, I assume both sides would go in knowing that guaranteed money and salary in the first three years are what really matter. Revis is the kind of player that I think the FO would be comfortable committing significant guaranteed money to at age 33.

I think he's wrong, I also think Revis took it personal when Sherman mocked him in the SB and now wants to get paid as the #1 to shut Sherman's mouth and fingers since he likes to tweet about his contract.

Not sure he would be overpaid, honestly. Revis is smart enough to convert to safety when the time comes and i think that he'd be a very good one even at that age.

I'm pretty sure Revis already got the last laugh for 24.

Do you really think Sherman's trash-talking will fuel Revis's desire to make more money? Do you think he is THAT insecure?

Slot corner would also be a consideration. Revis's straight line speed is not what it was but hes twitchy-quick and has great instincts and technique.

No but he certainly knows that he can get paid as the #1 CB in the league. Before that we might have been ok to just get paid in the same ballpark of the top 3 CBs, not necessarily being the #1, like it was reported a few months ago.

Now he can just decide to get paid as the #1 no matter what, not only because of that after all a championship counts, but I think that might be a factor why not, they are football players, ego is part of their reality.

I have to admit that this strikes me as complete nonsense. Revis may very well want to be the top paid CB, but I doubt Sherman's antics play any role in that decision.

I was one of those who didn't believe the Patriots would ever get Revis to begin with because of the money, and he proved he is not just about the money by taking less to come to New England. I think Domenik is on the right track and that winning and legacy matter to him. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to be paid as one of the top corners, I'm sure he does and he deserves to be, but I don't believe this is going to be just about the money and I think he will end up staying a Patriot on a 4/50 25 guaranteed deal.

I think it's impossible to accurately gauge what's driving Darrelle Revis right now. It's about as hard to gauge as the Patriots decision-making process. Combine the two, and it's darn nigh impossible. I just want this thing to play itself out and move forward, one way or another. Hopefully with Revis, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not holding my breath.

That's probably a good idea. I guess I will go ahead and stop holding mine now.

3 days is a long Goddamn time.

I feel Revis can play well into his 30s. Name me a great corner that hasnt? I still have a hunch he will stay here unless the jests are giving him 18 to 19 million.

Is there a sleeper contending team that could sign revis?

Beyond the NYJ and BUF being the obvious teams, if DR is looking at teams with a ton of cap space and good QBs, Indy and ATL seem like a good destinations.
