RUMOR: Revis "to hit the market?"

BillB always has some $$ value assigned to each player's worth. It's very likely he will break that rule just for Revis. What is that number? We will find out soon enough.

The rumor is BOTH McCourty and Revis will enter Free Agency.

Worst case scenario : Both DBs sign crazy $$$ contracts with other teams, which Patriots cannot match. And there are a number of teams with lots of $$ to spend.

What's the backup plan? :(

Link?

Sounds just like more speculation...or real because all of us on here are experts

I see a lot of people making statements as though they are referring to actual news.

No..no actual news at all..people just posting whatever they want ect.

you meant 'unlikely' not 'likely', right?

Borges the Bogus said:
Revis is willing to negotiate a long-term deal, but only if it’s in excess of the three amigos (Sherman, Peterson and Haden). That probably would mean a four-year deal worth more than $64 million because his deal in Tampa Bay averaged $16 million and he wants a raise. In addition, those sources say, he feels his services were “discounted” in 2014 at $12 million instead of the $16 million he was set to earn on his Tampa Bay deal and wants to get that money back. In other words, when he negotiates with the Patriots, they won’t be the only businessmen at the table.

The rest of the article is crap, with particular low lights being that the Pats have spent way under the cap and that Jason McCourty plays safety.

It is gonna be a long off season.. there are a lot of writers(speculators) will add fuel to a fire, so they can attain more social media attention.

If Revis is cut and then decide to come back, what happens to the dead money ?

There's a rumor going around that this coin I'm about to flip will land on heads. If it turns out to be true I'll know that my source actually has coin flipping ESP. Stay tuned.

Revis is a mercenary. If the pats are the highest bidder he will return, if not he will be a jet, bill, Brown, Seahawk or whatever team pays him the most.

the situation is being overthought......it is pretty simple.....the pats could not tag mccourty and have the the option the pats have on revis be viable.......the pats are holding their cards until the last minute....yes you could argue philosiphically that revis has the leverage, but there is one card he has already played......the pats have all the leverage with the ability to exercise the option and keep him at the big number...... everyone and their mother knows that Revis needs to make a deal this year. Sure the pats would spend a bundle on him in 2015, but he would have to provide another year like the last one, and he still won't get the deal he would have gotten this year......

overall, I don't think the pats are planning on being big players in FA this year, so it would not be too big of a stretch to keep revis at the big number........extend solder, convert a bunch of roster bonuses.......

either that, or the pats are going to have a ton of 3rd round comp picks in the 2016 draft

Felger said that his sources (most likely close Revis confidant Ty Law) that Revis will take a discount to stay with the Pats as long as he is the highest paid CB. I rarely believe what Felger says, but I take this one as probably true since it probably came from Ty Law.

Also, Felger said that Law told him that Law regrets not trying harder to renegotiate with the Pats and ending his career as a Patriot. He did not like bouncing from teams chasing money. Hopefully, he is advising Revis on this.

taking a discount and being the highest paid CB? how does that work?

Ben Volin ✔ @BenVolin
Former Bucs GM Mark Dominik says on @MikeandMike he expects Revis back in New England, and at a discount. “I think he’s looking for a home.”

Well, he had to feed his family lol

I agree with IllegalContact here..

Tagging the Ghost made the most sense, the salary is about what he is going to make anyways and it buys time to deal with the rest of free agency. Plus if they dig tag McCourty, they would not have the viable option of just paying Revis the $20 million. Plus McCourty is not worth 9.6 million. He is a good solid player, but he is not anyone you gameplan around. Hopefully the Pats can resign him at a reasonable rate, but if someone is going to grossly overpay for him, then yes, look for the Pats to again get the 97th pick in next years draft.

The Revis situation has to be settled. Yes, they could pick up the option and then continue to negotiate with him, sort of a very expensive Franchise tag. having Revis, let BB run the defense he always wanted to. Hopefully Revis says to himself, he me and Brady both have about 4 years left, let see how many more Superbowls we can win in that time.
