McCourty now has a choice to make

No, they didn't.

For a site that claims to be so intent on getting "truth", this place sure is happy with passing along untruths about former players and non-Patriots players/coaches/owners
YES they did! Nyah nyah!

If Mccourty goes to the Colts honestly he would have to be considered a traitor after all the deflate gate crap. As a player I could never look at that team unless it was a my only viable option or it had new ownership.

I may be among a few not freaking out.

I'm not freaking out. I think both Revis and McCourty will sign multi-year deals with the Pats. If they don't, they don't, and Bill will go in a different direction.

What if the Pats don't think he's worth it? What if the whole assumption of this thread, that McCourty "has a choice to make", is bull? He's already made it clear he wants to stay here. If NE hasn't even spoken to him recently, that says more to me about the choice BB is willing to make than anything McCourty has to do.

SMY is one of the least reliable sources I can imagine. It is also possible that both McCourty and the team expected the holding pattern while Revis was addressed, making the lack of recent talks unimportant.

Nonsense. If the Pats couldn't reach a deal, didn't tag him and the Colts offer him more that isn't his fault. Calling him a traitor would be quite pathetic and bitter.

Based on deflate gate I'm sorry that's how i would feel.
That rocked everyone with attactchment to the team including him.
Principle still should mean something.

Love me some McCourty. Maybe I overvalue him. If he moves on - I won't view him in a negative light. Here is a guy who has been smart, team-oriented, and solid on the field. He doesn't say stupid things are rarely makes stupid plays. I still hope they can work it out. If not, I have very much enjoyed having him on the team I root for.

Her "report" on Dobson/McDaniels was so wrong that she accomplished the rare feat of getting Belichick to specifically deny the report.

My gut feeling is DMAC will be back once they figure Revis out one way or another as they're said to love DMac in the locker room as much as on the field. It could well be, though, that they disagree on what he's worth. They may think any zone CB (Logan Ryan or draftee, signee) can play the FS role, perhaps not as well as DMac but for better value.

Opinions cannot be true or untrue.

Why would you think it 'rocked' McCourty?
The players were probably the least affected by it, because they did nothing wrong, and had a SB to prepare for while you were freaking out over being offended by such a silly issue.

I disagree that bothers players and it affected everyone's preperation I'm sorry you can't get in bed with the people responsible.
You are entitled to your opinion I of mine neither one of us is incorrect maybe we just have different outlooks.

Pretty sure this means McCourty will end up playing somewhere else.

The truth is that Revis makes McCourty a little bit redundant. You do not need a rangy cover safety when you have a corner that can take away one half of the field.

Oh God.

I can already see this board spinning McCourty right into the Welker villain club.

Couldn't care less about Welker leaving. I consider him worthless because he was our #1 receiver here for several years, played on some very good teams, and failed to deliver us a Lombardi trophy in large part due to his lack of "clutchness."

Even if McCourty leaves (he won't) I wouldn't hate him. He played well for us and was part of a championship team.

We don't have Revis we are not picking up that option he could walk.
Then you better make the offense unstoppable.

The Patriots have a choice to make - not McCourty. They either offer him a fair deal or he walks, simple as that. McCourty already said the Pats have a huge advantage in re-signing him which leads me to believe he'd take a smaller contract. I still think he and Revis come back next year.

Also - McCourty isn't a traitor if he signs with the Colts. Just like Wes wasn't a traitor for signing with the Broncos.

How do teams without Revis make a defensive stop? Do they need or have unstoppable offenses?

I think this was directed at my comment. If so, can you rephrase that so I understand what you are saying?

His actual quote was that the Patriots have an advantage because he would choose them if the offers were EVEN. I would think that's likely the case for about 95%+ of the free agents out there.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember any suggestion about a hometown discount.

No, we just need a secondary that doesnt have potential to be a dumpster fire (that would be no McCourty/Revis and minor pick ups).
