they'll be gone soon enough. Then we'll see! I think Belichick relishes the chance to win with so called mediocre players. He makes a fair offer then he walks.

That is exactly it. You are brilliant.they'll be gone soon enough. Then we'll see! I think Belichick relishes the chance to win with so called mediocre players. He makes a fair offer then he walks.
I didn't say they'd go 19-0, just that it's enough talent.I know it's the off season, and you've been posting the sort of gibberish that one would expect during such times, but come on with this "enough talent for 19-0" crap.
4pm I believe.BTW - anyone know the at what time the franchise tags have to be in by?

They won a superbowl with Earthwind Moreland and Randall Gay.
You're being obtuse. Willfully so. No need for that.
This would make a LOT of sense if the Pats weren't in the cap bind to get under the $143MM by 3/10. Even if the Pats did simply pick up the option and let McCourty walk, they'd still be several Million over the cap with only a week to create the space. To try and keep both would be next to impossible in that scenario.Would anyone be surprised in the least? Did you really think Revis wasn't going to at least test the market/ leverage any offers before making a decision? He would be almost dumb not to. He is going to be 30, this is likely his last pay day, and he just played for the Patriots for a discount. The most we can ask of him is to allow the Patriots to match or come close to his best offer.
This is why I started a very long, highly debated thread about whether or not to pick up Year 2, with the premise that there is no way we are signing him to an extension before free agency. And I argued, and still do argue, the Patriots should pick up year 2 of his contract, which takes away much of his leverage, and then try to extend him. At that point, he wouldn't see free agency until 31 and risks injuries/skills declining this next season, and I think that's how we can get him on a 13-14M deal without insane player guarantees.
Belichick can't let these guys go, especially Revis. We won nothing in 10 years without Revis. Then we pick up Revis and win in the first year? This guy has GOT to get locked up..
Hear hear! That's exactly right I think. Revis will price himself at the exact level which makes someone like BB not willing to pay him. Anything less is leaving money on the table for him!No player is indispensable. Economics must be a factor. Lucky for us, BB is better at this **** than anyone, so I trust him to do what is best for the team.
As shocking as it would be to lose BOTH Revis and McCourty, the sad/interesting fact would be that the 4 man secondary you mention above, would be significantly better than the one that somehow got us to the Superbowl in 2011. This a thought.Browner
Butler
Harmon
Chung
Legion of BILL

Yep. Good enough to win the SB. Plenty of talent. He drafted Harmon high for a reason. As shocking as it would be to lose BOTH Revis and McCourty, the sad/interesting fact would be that the 4 man secondary you mention above, would be significantly better than the one that somehow got us to the Superbowl in 2011.
