I haven't seen any credible report that Revis is asking for 16 million per.

Per Rappaport this morning, expect tags for McCourty, Justin Houston, Demarius Thomas, Dez Bryant, NDamukong Suh (26 million), Jason Pierre Paul, and possibly Jeremy Maclin.
26 Mil for Suh, I would sign that so fast!

NFLN just ran a blurb on their crawl that the Lions aren't going to tag Suh.

Just saw that on twitter, conflicting rumors.

McCourty is regarded by many as the top free agent safety, so if he becomes free next Tuesday, he could have a strong market.

It could be more of an update because it ran on the NFLN and that's also where Rappaport first reported it.

If McCourty hits FA, he's 100% gone. Strange that NE is getting cheap when they have a chance to repeat.

Definitely getting interesting. If the Colts steal one of our top 5 players...

Cannot let McCourty hit FA. Throw a lot of money at Revis and then let yor second best player in the secondary walk? I hate the idea. Even with Revis retained, we still have a weakened secondary. Hopefully it does not come to that.

Chefs tagged Houston. 13.17 million.

Seems a wee bit premature to have decided that McCourty is gone because the Pats are cheap....

Try assinine.

Wonder if it's something like this... Patriots want to keep McCourty and want to pay fair market value, but don't necessarily want to do so this year because of the cap situation. So, they franchise Gostkowski whose $4.5m number is lower and equal to what they would have to pay to extend him anyway, shelve that negotiation, and then continue working hard with Revis while continuing to let McCourty know they do want to keep him. Then, they extend Revis and clear up some cap room, and at that point have a good idea how much money they really are comfortable spending right now. They let McCourty hit the open market and test the offers he gets, keeping lines open.

It's probably true that the Patriots will be outbid by another team, but that doesn't necessarily mean McCourty will go there. Would YOU want to go play for the Indianapolis Crybabies for say, $11m per vs. $9m per from NE? I think BB has some faith that he may not have the biggest checkbook, but he is the one who raised Devin in the NFL and it will be hard for him to leave home unless the deal is really blockbuster, and what can you do then? (for example, Denver blowing their load on Talib last year)

God seriously?

There is over a week of time to get a deal done, where is this getting cheap ******** story coming from?

If anything this tells me that they think that they are close to a deal.

Have some faith into whatever BB & Co. are planning..

Also... has the league even told teams what the cap number for 2015 is yet?? Kind of hard for them to make tag decisions if they don't know how much money they have to spend.

The NFL is a job. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a player went to the Colts if they offered $2M more a year, I would be very surprised if the player didn't in that case.

One reason Gostkowski may be franchised is the Welker connection. He has the same agent.
I expect trouble with Solder next year for the same reason.
