I don't know about you but even though I nor anyone else on here physically plays a single snap of football for the New England Patriots i personally feel as if this huge boulder is off my back. This Superbowl that we just won has huge implications going forward because now we can have FUN. Now i'm not saying that watching the Patriots isn't fun as it is because lord knows how i act when Gronk spikes the football, but it always just seems the wins didn't mean as much as it should because for a long, long, time (10 years) this team hadn't achieved it's ultimate goal and potential of a SB victory, especially with 2 all time greats in charge: Brady and Bill. Every year of disappointment since '04 felt like a 'wasted opportunity' or a 'only if they had' scenario.

Now assuming we handle our business this off season with the likes of Revis/DMac/Vereen/Gost etc. and the team is set, with this SB woodpecker pecking the s**t out of my head for 10 years out the way, i can actually start to 'chill out' when i watch the Pats and just enjoy the GREATNESS we have. To the point where even if can't get to the goal of being NFL champs i can at least relax knowing #4 is out the way and our legacy is solidified.

Of course there is no way i am advocating any kind of loser mentality like 'oh it doesn't matter we lost in the AFC title game' because believe me it would matter but if you try and catch my drift it's not such a bad situation as it would have been over the past decade because of what was achieved a month ago.

I mean imagine if they start putting a few explosive receivers around Tom to see out his career with or they get a stud running back that blows our mind or we start sacking the crap out of any QB we face then we can just have fun and enjoy it instead of micro analysing it and saying 'oh but can the Pats do this/that/the other in a Superbowl'.

I catch your drift and I get the feeling. As much as we say "F the haters", I don't know how many more "ZERO superbowls since Spygate" I could take.

Can't tell you how much that kind of talk really, really, really ticked me off. EVERYBODY has to shut up about it now.

Tom Brady didn't really call it a monkey on his back or anything, but he and Kraft both spoke of those missed opportunities after Super Bowl 49. It was definitely something that weighed on Tom. I'd be willing to bet even Bill felt it, although he didn't acknowledge it like Kraft and Brady did. Then again, you couldn't get that admission from Bill with a gun to his head let alone willingly. God damn I love that guy.

Now that the pressure is off, I expect great things. No more chasing the ghosts of the 06 championship game, super bowl 42, super bowl 46, the home loss to the Jets etc. I honestly think the 5th ring is coming very very soon. Like this season soon.

Imagine if we keep Grop and he ends up being a top 10 or top 5 QB in the league .... ROFL .

Add to that Belichick coaching say another 10 years or so .... LMAO.

I would love for this team to win a 5th Lombardi Trophy.
Will they change the name to the Bellichick?

Stopped in over the weekend to see my college student son for his birthday in New York State and he told his roommate I was a Pats fan (kid was a Jets fan) and he started in on deflategate. I stopped him and told him two things, his owner was guilty of tampering twice and they hadn't won a Super Bowl since LBJ was President.......Shut him up real fast......

I'm good with what they have plus the return or Dominique Easley, Aaron Dobson and Jerod Mayo not to mention 5 of the top 97 picks in this upcoming draft (hello 2 roadgrader OG's, 1 DT, 1 TE, 1 LB)

Don't you mean 4 of the top 97 picks?

First round, second round, third round, fourth round (first pick of).

Are we assuming a high comp pick for Talib that I'm forgetting to include?

Most people ( read adamjt13 compensatory guru) are predicting a comp 3rd rounder for Talib based on contract and performance (games started, played and pro bowl)

http://overthecap.com/projecting-the-compensatory-draft-picks-for-2015/

So the Pats could have 3 picks in a row or 3/4 if there is only one other 3rd round comp pick based on #96 last pick 3rd round, comp pick for Talib and 1st pick of 4th round from TB based on Mankins trade......Considering that that last pick is the first pick of day 3, I'm guessing it will be traded to a team that really, really doesn't want to miss out on a player they thought about all night......

every year is fun.........it's alot more fun when they win, but even the sucky years were a blast......

1st pick of 4th round from TB based on Mankins trade

I'm nearly certain the Patriots have the second pick of the 4th round, not the first. The tie breaker is for the first round only, after that teams rotate, so Tampa goes first in the odd rounds and second in the even.

Okay, so it is the Pats having 3 out of 5 picks in a row, assuming there are 2 compensatories at the end of round 3...until they get traded up, down or into 2016....

I don't recall any sucky years. Playoffs in all but 2002 and 2008... and lots of excitement in both those years anyway. This is one helluva run.

I sure would like to sit down with BB over a couple of beers and talk about SB 42. The 4th and 13 decision. The seven-man blitz on the Plaxico TD.

Would be a pretty boring talk without a truth serum! He really is the most fascinating mind in the world. The 4th and 13 was totally nuts, but not playing for a field goal with 35 second and 3 timeouts was controversial as well. Randy still almost had it. This is all a bit easier to talk about now.

Not so rosy if they lose McCourty, Revis, and Vereen and cut Browner. Our defensive backfield
will be Chung, Harmon, Arrington, Ryan, and Butler. Brady better be red hot and average 38 points
a game.

Why would they cut browner? Chicken little here ^^^^^^^

Can I just take a moment to laugh about the fact that this thread is barely two days old and already the "fun" has lost its luster for many on this board? :)
