I don't know about you but even though I nor anyone else on here physically plays a single snap of football for the New England Patriots i personally feel as if this huge boulder is off my back. This Superbowl that we just won has huge implications going forward because now we can have FUN. Now i'm not saying that watching the Patriots isn't fun as it is because lord knows how i act when Gronk spikes the football, but it always just seems the wins didn't mean as much as it should because for a long, long, time (10 years) this team hadn't achieved it's ultimate goal and potential of a SB victory, especially with 2 all time greats in charge: Brady and Bill. Every year of disappointment since '04 felt like a 'wasted opportunity' or a 'only if they had' scenario.
Now assuming we handle our business this off season with the likes of Revis/DMac/Vereen/Gost etc. and the team is set, with this SB woodpecker pecking the s**t out of my head for 10 years out the way, i can actually start to 'chill out' when i watch the Pats and just enjoy the GREATNESS we have. To the point where even if can't get to the goal of being NFL champs i can at least relax knowing #4 is out the way and our legacy is solidified.
Of course there is no way i am advocating any kind of loser mentality like 'oh it doesn't matter we lost in the AFC title game' because believe me it would matter but if you try and catch my drift it's not such a bad situation as it would have been over the past decade because of what was achieved a month ago.
I mean imagine if they start putting a few explosive receivers around Tom to see out his career with or they get a stud running back that blows our mind or we start sacking the crap out of any QB we face then we can just have fun and enjoy it instead of micro analysing it and saying 'oh but can the Pats do this/that/the other in a Superbowl'.
