So it looks like Jermaine Gresham is going to be released from the Bengals...any interest? I believe he's a former 1st round pick. Not sure how expensive he'd be. Think he's more of a blocker but he'd be some nice depth behind Gronk.

I expect he'll be out of the price range, if he hits the market.

Based on his playoff numbers alone? Absolutely. Those are solid #3 WR numbers especially when you factor in the Colts' game the Pats played a lot of six o-linemen packages and ran the ball a lot (40 times to Brady passing 35 attempts).

Take the average of his three games in the playoffs and put that average over a 16 game schedule, he would have 59 catches for 730 yards and 16 TDs over the course of the season (and this average factors in that every third game he would have only one catch for less than 10 yards). That would put him well up there on the list of #3 WRs around the league.

If Amendola can give you over a 16 game schedule what he gave the Pats in the playoffs, not only is he a lock at #3 WR but I would argue the Pats are all set at WR. Maybe a #4 WR is needed depending on how they feel about Dobson.

Not overrating his post season performance at all. You couldn't ask for much more from a #3 WR than what he produced.
I wanted to make this point too but you made it so well that I've really got nothing to add. Long live Danny Amendola.

Or we could not

That's really a shame as far Stevie being a terrible person. He would still be under 30 with aforementioned low price tag resulting from playing with crap QBs. He screams "reclamation project."

Gresham will be too expensive for Gronk's backup and our salary cap space.

As far as Amendola goes,he helped us win the SB. He's the man. He deserves every cent of his contact (if he wants to renegotiate, I wouldn't mind). And anyone who isn't a fan of his should start celebrating regular season accomplishments with the Broncos.

My issue with people killing him is simple, we lost two other Super Bowls by not having one more guy who could win one-on-one match-ups and get open and make a play. We finally get one who does that makes some plays to help them finally get a ring and people still want to kill him

Ian, keep your day job. You'd be lousy at ISIS.

I'm for bringing in Lance Kendricks. McDaniels coached him his rookie year, hasn't had the best QB situation, then Fisher brought in Jared Cook, who he had drafted in the 3rd round when he was still HC of the Titans.

Johnson is a headcase. They don't need that kind of person on this team.

Gresham is a great talent but is a little to inconsistent catching and blocking to get big dollars. It'll be interesting to see where he lands as Cinci is not paying him top dollar.

We can agree that Amendola was a valuable member of the team during the last 1/2 of the season and the playoffs but when looking at his overall production over the last two seasons and what he has been paid, his production has not equaled his pay.

Total pay in 2013 & 2014: $13m
Stats: 28g, 12 starts, 81 catches, 833yds, 3TDs, 36 returns, 614yds, 9/213 in playoffs.

With $4.5 to be earned in 2015 and a $5.5 cap hit, he needs to renegotiate.

No one's saying he's Fitzgerald but the point most are making is the fact that he's better than he's being given credit for. and the fact he's being completely dismissed by so many is ridiculous. The guy fell off, realized it, and then worked hard to make himself useful and contribute and it made a difference in the regular season, playoffs, and he helped them win a championship.

As far as him being "non existent against the colts" - he wasn't out there because the game plan obviously leaned heavily on different personnel groupings that didn't warrant him being out there. He only played in 37% of the snaps in that game, one play less than Vereen and 13 less than Blount. He's good enough to have on this roster if he'll lower his salary, which I'm guessing at a lower number people might finally get off his case.
Amendola has finally developed to the point where he fits in nicely. No other free agent the
Patriots sign or college player they draft is guaranteed to fit in.

The trouble is that Amendola's salary is much higher than Edelman's and LaFell's. In fairness
to the other two, his contract has to be adjusted based on his 2015 catches.

Then again, when you can bring in a guy who said things like this and then, once he is on the inside and sees things from a different perspective, becomes an ambassador for the Patriots way, that can only help improve the Pats image in the eye of fans and other players, as well as improving the odds of players wanting to come to Foxboro.

It HAS happened before that players come in and sing a different tune about their perspective of BB.

In my mind the only way amendola stays is here is on a more favorable contract.

Stevie Johnson is not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. I watched him a lot in Buffalo and he has a knack for bonehead plays on a pretty consistent basis. I think he would struggle in this offense and we'd have another Chad Ocho Cinco type situation on our hands.

Sup, veteran players who are released now are able to sign whenever they want, they don't have to wait for the league year to end, that's just for players who are becoming free agents as their contracts don't expire until then.

Once again---you are missing the point by reading too fast. Please go back and read the exchange.

My point is why should NE release Wilfork ahead of time? They have to make a decision prior to the start of the league year on the day his bonus is due (either the 9th or 10th of March). Either way, he'll be a free agent when everyone else will, and that's in the worst case scenario.

The poster I responded to was wondering "why the Patriots haven't cut him yet?" My point was what incentive would they have to do so? He's not a third string special teamer who needs more time to latch on. They don't necessarily need to give him a "head start." He's a well known named player who they're trying to work something out with, and have another 10-12 days to do so.

It would be like arguing to release Revis now. Why would they do so? They may end up releasing him this week at some point, but apparently they don't feel like they've exhausted all options yet, with 1.5 weeks to go.

Jackson is toast and has been for two seasons.

You want to extrapolate his averages from his 2 best games over a full 16 game season?

Makes sense considering there isn't already a body of evidence to show what he's capable of in the regular season

Hell based on your math, we can expect Tom to throw for about 60 TD's and 6000 yards next season based on his top 3 or 4 games

Also, dont take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to kill Amendola. I hope he stays with the team and turns into a valuable contributor. He killed it in the playoffs, and I hope it continues. But it seems like most people are getting so wrapped up in those performances they're completely forgetting how unremarkable he was all season long.

Harry Douglas interest me more then stevie johnson.
