2015 NFL Mock Drafts

I'm going to do the whole off season while I still can! This is my final one and we will just see how correct I am. Remember the rule of 51 and the signings do not include the minimum already being paid but represent the new dollars that need to be spent above that mark

Over the cap 7M

Restructure Wilfork - save 4m
Extend Revis - save 10m
Restructure Mayo - save 4m
Restructure Amendola - save 2m
Extend Solder - save 3m
Cut/Trade Dennard - save 1m
Cut/Trade/Restructure Wilson & Hooman - save 1m

25 - 7 = 20m to use. Also 3M set aside for emergency gives you 15m max.

McCourty - 5M (goes up next year & long term deal)
Connolly - 3.5M (1 year OR another vet on a 1 year deal)
Gost - 3M (long term)
Develin/Casillas/Siliga/Aiken/ect - Other odds and ends - 2.5M

Notable loses - Branch, Vereen, Ayers & Ridley

No trade downs or ups to make it easier.

#32 - Diggy - DE (maybe Armstead but I think a DE/OLB/pass rusher is the best idea here and will be available)
#64 - Tevin Coleman - RB
#96 - Marpet - OL
3rd comp #97 - Hardison -DT (using Mayo's binkie's but any number of combos of OL/DL could work).
#102 - Tre McBride - WR
#132 - Olomu - CB (Arrington replacement being only 5'9 his injury us gonna knock him way down as he might not even play in 2015).

I usually use cbssports for my rankings. While I like every pick you made. I think you were quite optimistic that these guys will be available.

CBS
Odighizuwa - 25
Coleman - 61 - Certainly could be there.
Marpet - 80
Hardison - 101 - Certainly could be there.
McBride - 84
Olumu - 114

Let me know what you guys think.

32. Dorial Green-Beckham WR
64. Jeremiah Poutasi OT
96. Josh Shaw CB
98. Tevin Coleman RB
128. Max Valles OLB
162. Marcis Hardison DT
194. Kenny Bell WR

Completed on Fanspeak moments ago.

I like the players.

Doubt Coleman, Valles, Hardison and Bell go that low though. Green is the first is a high risk high reward pick. Not the worse idea in the world but with a risk like that I would rather get him in the 2nd

Do we really thing TB12 would want to throw to someone who has no idea what he's doing?

"Hey Dorial, run under this ball I'm throwing out there and catch it". You don't need to know much to do that in year 1. If there are going to be years 2-5, that will be down to the interviews.

Right. tb12 willing to take a deep drop and throw a bomb. Might get hit because he can't audible. Knows his dumbarse rookie won't get it. I'll pass.

That's up to you. But out of interest, how do you know DGB wouldn't get it?

Mayock said he looked at his soph film at Mizzou. Said he's a great athlete. But, has no idea what he's doing out there. Other analysts have said similiar things.

I say depending on how free agency goes, DGB may very well be worth the gamble! Remember, there are no guarantees in the NFL draft! I like the pick!

If we have to go offense early and both are available then I'd take Gurley over DGB. He would create more mismatch opportunities.

The rest of your mock contains a lot of the usual suspects so based on the names I am fine. Surprised if Hardison is there so late. I guess inn your scenario we keep Vince signed up?

He probably has a much as Jordan Phillips and Max Valles which is why sophomores are risky picks. Just because he doesn't know what he's doing now doesn't mean he never will.

I'm not an advocate of the pick, all I know is that we're in the Jaguars and Raiders zone when it comes to explosive plays on offense / we're fine when Gronk is flying but there's not much behind him in terms of being able to get more than 10 yards on a play.

I agree that our offense needs outside-the-hashes explosion, but DGB in the 1st round is not the way
to answer that need.
Part 1 of answering that need is by drafting the next Logan Mankins in order to give Brady time to look
downfield; then and only then should a deep-speed WR be drafted.

Idk if you guys saw or not, but somebody on bleacher projects NE to double dope at the DT position. They had us taking Eddie Goldman and then Michael Bennett. Idk how I feel about that considering that we need a guard, having them two along with VW if restructured, siliga, and Easely would be pretty fun to watch. I wouldn't think teams would be able to do much against our defense.

I think in part it's out of sight, out of mind (re: Easley).

I discussed this idea a bit in another thread, with Marcus Hardison instead of Bennett. I think Hardison and Easley would be a dynamic pair of interchangeable chess pieces who can play all over the DL and disrupt. I wouldn't target Goldman, but if he fell and was the best value available, I would grab him without hesitation. A long term DL core of Goldman, Easley and Hardison would be incredibly dynamic.

It's not my plan at the moment (I would take Hardison, and then a day 3 big DT like Deon Simon or Ellis McCarthy), but I wouldn't be upset if it happened.

So is hardison the every down dt and Goldman the run stuffer and Easley the designated inside pass rusher?

I think in that scenario you would move Easley and Hardison around. In "base", whether a 3-4 or a 5-2, it would be pretty straightforward. In "sub" you could have 2 of those 3. If Goldman stayed in, you would have the option of kicking one of Easley or Hardison outside.

Given how much of the time we stay in sub, I'd probably prefer to go with a less costly draft choice for the big DT role, such as Ellis McCarthy or Deon Simon. But I think BB could find enough ways to use all 3 guys.

I am a huge McCarthy fan, but he,and anybody else picked in the third round, will
Need a year or two to develop.

Absolutely. I've said that before. I'm assuming the Pats have at least one of Wilfork/Branch, or a FA DT in addition to Siliga.
