Aaron Dobson

The Thompkins v. Dobson discussion, particularly after we saw how little Thompkins did in Oakland, gives us a chance to reboot the thread a bit, I think. It's a reminder that Dobson was nowhere near the "best" rookie WR, despite his numbers. That's Branch, by a wide margin.

Is there any proof BB was going to draft Harvin aside from Bald Childress' word?

Wait!

Didn't Belichick hold his annual post-draft presser listing all the players he would have taken instead of the guys he got?

So out of character for him not to provide detailed information like that to the media.... :)

Agreed.
The Twig's amazing rookie camp has always been a problem for guys like me who saw him then. Nobody since ever came close to the POP he showed right from the start. In sharp contrast was rookie TE Daniel Graham who was bumbling around all over the field and dropping passes. I mis-judged him and it took me a couple years to appreciate Graham who just needed more time to develop in the system.

I'm surprised we still have anything to discuss on Dobson. I thought we all agreed to lynch him for having an imperfect foot.

On a serious note, this is a huge year for him. As I've said since his rookie year, I'm all in on him and expect big things from him. If I'm wrong, then I'm going down with the ship, no sense in wavering now.

Sincerely, Aaron Dobsons dad.

Come on Aaron! Make us forget about the other Aaron...

I rate their rookie years quite the same, actually.

People forget Branch - while reason is unknown to me didn't do much the 2nd 1/2 of the season.

Your entitled to your opinion as I am mine.
Are you honestly saying you wouldn't want Harvin at any cost?

Yes - - unless the Players Union allows a reverse contract and reverse salary cap player.

I remember this board saying the same things about Moss giving up on routes, not going full strength.
Only playing when the ball is for him.
Just saying I wouldn't count it out.

Enjoy him on your fantasy team.

Yet AD was a healthy scratch while KT played for weeks before KT was claimed off waivers when they tried to get him over to the PS.

"Healthy scratch"???

Another poster who doesn't know a thing about his foot situation and why Dr. Gill was fired.

In reality none of us really know about his foot situation...just speculation at this point.

We do know that Dr Gill gave Dobson a bag after his surgery. Dobson said "What's this?" Dr Gill replied, "Those are bones that we couldn't figure out where to put back into your foot."

I don't understand why all this energy is being devoted to Dobson. There is no decision to be made regarding him for months. Dobson will be in Training Camp and will compete.

Dobson's projected production is certainly not enough for the patriots to cut Amendola and pass on free agents.

Perhaps, we should start another thread to argue about whether Tyms will make the 53.

I think we also need a thread on whether we should bring in Ray Rice for a look.... :)

Well, I do continue to have hope for him - but what concerns me is my inability to think of players with comparable first two years who went on to get better. I saw Reiss' comments, and concerns over his compete level are discouraging. Because as we've found, those things can matter.

.....and right on schedule 3/1/2015:

"....5. When Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported that Patriots receiver Aaron Dobson has been training the last two weeks at the Fischer Institute in Arizona, and plans to stay there 6-8 weeks before returning for the team’s offseason program, it was viewed as important news from this perspective. The 2013 second-round draft pick has been limited by injuries and, when healthy, hasn't consistently broken through, and I believe some top folks in the Patriots organization would like to see more urgency from him. This could be a positive step in that direction...."

Phoenix is a great place for injury rehab interesting...

It's not injury rehab per se.

This is the same institute where Revis/McCourty/Ryan and Harmon all put their bodies through the system last spring.

I don't think the Fischer Institute is somewhere you go if you are still hurt.

Mike Reiss weighs in:

Duron Harmon wasn't present with those others. You might be thinking of Tavon Wilson.
