If I see him do a rude post I will report it too. Just I have seen a lot of it from you lately and I think you should stop. How about instead of trying to be just rude enough to not get banned try not being rude at all. Don't call post stupid. Try a "I respectfully disagree" and also do not imply every post someone makes is stupid as it implies they are stupid which is exactly what you were doing and you know it.

EDIT: Also this is me trying to debate you or start a conversation. I just thought it be fair to let you know what i will be ding in hopes you decide not to do it any more of your own volition.

OK, I will try to be nicer

* To those that deserve it.

He should be no better than the number 5 reciever on the depthchart.
If we can get anything out of him great but can't count on him. Same thing with amendola

I think Dobson can be anywhere from off the roster to #3. Kind of like Amendola.

Amendola showed he can be on the side line injured or a non factor but also showed in this years playoffs that he can be a big time factor and have huge games. I think Dobson might be the same kind of player. He flashed the end of his rookie year. I could easily see him off the team or getting 800 yards.

Just have to wait and see. The talent is there clearly and health provided I think he could do well this year.

I view Dobson much like I'll view any rookie taken after the first round this year: A guy to add to the mix in training camp to see who the best players are. I'm not going to expect a breakout season, but the more talented bodies we have competing in camp the better.

Can anyone explain why we let go of Thompkins but kept Dobson? Was it money, or locker room/off the field stuff, because IMO it certainly wasn't production or accountability... Still baffled about that one.

Kenbrell was a pleasant surprise, but midway through their respective rookie seasons, Dobson had pretty much taken over for Thompkins, relegating the latter to bench duty and even being inactive. It was only after injuring his foot that Kenbrell started playing again.

Aside from that, Thompkins was also far more likely to pass through waivers.

I have yet to see one of these young draft picks fall as far out of favor as Dobson and ultimately make it back with this organization.

It depends on how fine a line you draw. Vereen did virtually nothing his rookie year, spending most of it hurt, and he's developed into a fine 3rd down back. Edelman basically took three years off after a promising rookie season. Ben Watson got hurt in his first NFL game and ended up being a productive player.

And there are other players who fell off the Patriot wagon with disappointing sophomore seasons only to forge roles elsewhere, like Dave Thomas, Darius Butler and Brandon Tate.

Dobson, DGB,Lafell,Gronk, on the field heck of a goal line package.
If we signed Harvin that would be a incredibly flexible piece as well.

Harvin?! No F'ing way.

This was a great article, BelichickFan! Thanks for posting. I've seen a lot of good things by Jeff Howe recently -- perhaps I'm going to have to revise my anti-Herald prejudices.

I noticed that his training is very varied and a great deal of it is focused on mobility and flexibility. Not just sprinting and pounding weights. And it's interesting too that it's co-ordinated with the trainers back in Foxborough. One thing that has disappointed me in recent years is how many muscle injuries the Patriots seem to have had. Impact injuries are going to happen in such a violent full-contact sport, but the muscle injuries made me wonder about how well they deal with flexibility and alignment. It sounds, though, as though Fischer is absolutely on top of that kind of thing.

Dobson has obviously got the message that, if you want to be a top athlete, it's a full-time job. I'm definitely very encouraged.

Dobson will have many opportunities in camp and in the pre-season. He did beat out Thompkins for a roster spot. He has two years left on his contract and has a legitimate shot to compete for our various WR roster spots: #2, #3, #4 and #5 (if we have a #5). He has the physical attributes, knows the system, and flashed a bit in his rookie year. In fact, few WR rookies did better in his rookie year.

Dobson should be considered an asset, with potential. I expect that we will bring in free agent competition and even a late round draft choice. We should do this even if Amendola stays. Why not. We shouldn't be COUNTING on Dobson and Tyms, and besides there could be an injury before Game One.

Presuming that Amendola is back, Dobson starts competing with Tyms and Boyce for the #4 WR spot. Where he ends up depends on his progress.

Personally, I am fine with keeping Dobson on the 53, even as the #5 WR.

he either show's up in a big way, or send him on his way as he will be taking up a spot.

first, LaFell has the spot Dobson was slated for......even though Dobson is supposedly more of a deep threat, it's going to take alot to take numbers from LaFell as he has earned them.

second, Dobson does not do special teams.....at this point, I might even put Boyce ahead of Dobson

he is going to have to show up healthy and stay healthy or I would have no use for him

"taking up a spot"??

1) If Amendola is NOT here, then Dobson is competing for reps in the 3 WR set.

2) If Amendola IS here, then Dobson is competing to be the backup in case of injuries, perhaps often inactive. I would NOT rather have Boyce for this position.

For me, Dobson's spot is the #4 WR who is able to start if there is an injury. Also, he is capable of moving up in the depth chart.

BOTTOM LINE
There is room for lots of $1M players on the roster. Some are old vets. Some are youngsters with a couple of years of experience,

I too hope he can emerge. I've been backing him and think he can be quite productive when and IF healthy. I understand that is the critical question and will impact if he remains with the team. He needs a good offseason and a healthy season.

I'll keep my hopes up, just quite disappointed that he couldn't get on the field last season. But LaFell emerged which kinda made that disappointment fade into the background.
I think he will be stuck behind Lafell fo quite some time. Lafell really grabbed that spot, and had a phenomenal year, and obviously, gained Brady's trust and confidence. I realy don't see Dobson ever pushing Lafell to the bench. I was a HUGE Dobson fan, but Lafell is the real deal. IF they cut Amendola I can see Dobson being the 3rd receiver.

The Patriots should have 2 locks at WR.

After that, it should be a full out open competition with a mix of current players, FA veterans, UDFAs and a draftee or two. The team needs better 3-5 depth at the position, whether that comes from internal improvements or outside help.

like others said Dobson is younger faster more Talent but at the end of the day KT was a UDFA and Dobson was a mid 2th round pick. you have to give him every shot possible for him to show why you used that pick on him, but I think this is his last year to make the game day roster and I think the kids got a good shot if he keeps working hard

Your analysis is correct. And your hope that Amendola isn't here clearly shows through.

If Amendola or a free agent is signed to significant money, then he too will be a roster lock, as would a draftee in the first four rounds (which is unlikely).

But your emphasis is a good one. As of NOW, our wide receiver situation is wide open (pun intended) and is a serious need. This is especially true since, as of NOW, Gronk is the only non-WR receiver out of those who had serious contributions in 2014.

To be BLUNT, we have Gronkowski, Edelman, and LaFell as our receivers for one of the very best pass offenses in the NFL. We need MUCH more. This is a serious need.
========
And the need doesn't go away by pointing out that we need two OG's or that we might need a player in the secondary.

What has he done to prove he should be the number 3?

He had one great game against a horrible steelers secondary and thays pretty much it

Where did I say he should automatically be the #3 WR? I said if he comes into camp and performs and earns it.

Your post makes it seem like #5 his is ceiling regardless of anything.

Dobson has not proven to to be able to stay healthy.......this is the kind of guy who fills in as a starter for a week, then you have go search for Brandon Lloyd because of injury. 2 years, 2 injuries........unless things change, that's what we have

he also doesn't do special teams......there is value to me in that.....at least Tyms does.

Haha, what a tattle tale you are, Cindy Brady.

Much? Serious?

They need a #3 WR that could be a #2 if called upon. That's just how the Pats offense is with Gronk.

Seems like people are setting their sights on someone like Maclin or Crabtree when they should be setting their sights on someone like Nate Washington, Brian Hartline or Cecil Shorts.

I'd argue that finding a definitive #2 receiving TE that has blocking ability is more of a need than a #3 WR.

Cut Hoomanauwai and use that $1.4m to help bring in Lance Kendricks.

Age most likely.
