Would Reggie Bush Fit With the Patriots?

Steve Balestrieri

when healthy in 2013 with the Lions, Bush had 223 carries for 1,006 yards, (4.5 YPA), 4 touchdowns. He added 54 receptions, 506 receiving yards,

I think so, it's just that his price has always seemed to exceed his production.

If the price is right, Bush would be a great addition...... IMHO ....

yes, even if we use him only in Vereen's role, catching passes and a run here and there, that would maximize his chances to stay healthy. By the way I like Vereen but I can't see him rushing for 1000 yards.

sign bush, let vereen walk......potential money saving as well as a win in the compensatory pick process

I think he could be effective in our offense. Obviously his health and cost would be huge issues. But if healthy and a reasonable cost I could see him working out if we lose Vereen.

Sure, why not?

Perfect fit.

The comparisons to Vereen are obvious. But how is he at blitz pickup and pass blocking? Also, from what I've read, the Pats love Vereen's attitude and off-field presence too. Personally, I'd prefer Vereen, and I don't necessarily think Bush is going to be tremendously less expensive than Vereen either.

He is going to be 30 years old in about a week. He is often injured, and not that good in my opinion. I would rather go a different direction.

Pretty big assumption by some people to think Bush is looking for less than Vereen. Bush will probably looking for what he was getting in Detroit which was $4m

BTW Vereen laughed off that $5m a year story on twitter.

I think he's good but in addition to your other points, IMO based upon the natue of his twitter account he wouldn't be a fit here.

Regardless of what happens to Vereen, I don't see Bush here. Wrong side of 30, injury history and I doubt the Patriots would offer anything close to what some other team will.

Tyler Gaffney and James White - unproven, potential, cheap, young. I'm looking forward to seeing them on Sundays.

yes he would be a upgrade to Vereen if he could play a full 16 games he would end up with something like 700 yards rushing and 700 rec so perfect fit IMO

Yeah. He saw the beat-down after his agent floated the $5 million trial balloon and backed down gracefully. Gotta give him credit for at least being able to sense which way the wind blows!

He is less injury prone than Vereen (missed 28 games in 9 years, 8 in the last 4 vs Vereen's 22 in 4).

The reason why Bush is often injured is because Teams use him as a featured RB which he's not. Bush is not a between the tackles runner more outide that said, he would be used exclusively as a Third Down RB here. In that role even at 30 Bush is still > Vereen. Bush is elusive with the ball in his hands something Vereen is not.

Knowing how important the Third Down running back is in this Offense I don't think Brady share your sentiments.

I'm not dismissing the importance of the 3rd down back but I just don't believe the Patriots are going to match what other teams are going to pay.

And I'm sure Brady would have liked to have kept Mankins last year but he doesn't make personnel decisions.
