Excellent Garoppolo article

Drew never sacrificed for the team? Drew didn't eat crow when he lost his job to injury, came back and played his role to get us to the Super Bowl, then rode the pine before "banishment" to Buffalo? He took Brady under his wing in the opposite of the Favre/Rodgers relationship... when young pup Tom had been jumping on him earlier saying "I'm going to take your job!"

I think people remember what happened to them in their life, to an extent... I think Brady remembers a guy who bit the bullet and transitioned with grace... when the time comes, I'd love for Brady to hang 'em up as a Patriot, after "one for the thumb" (why not?) But if he's off to the Chiefs or the Bills or the Vikings at some point, I hope Prince Aladdin is the one here to pick up the pieces. He looks like a winner in the NE vibe/system.

I do wonder if it will get ugly in the end - and one day, whichever day you look at, there will be an end. TFB is one of the game's fiercest competitors... you have to wonder if that must mean an ugly departure. I choose not to think so.

Speaking of Drew, at the time of the change to Brady it became very heated, at least it was with the AOLes and Bledsholes. It was what I dubbed the Brady/Bledsoe war, and many Pats fans couldn't let go of Drew and actually claimed that he could have led us to the title just as Brady did. What has transpired in the years since 2001 has proven that Brady was the man behind the championships.

As for Garoppolo, if he takes over after Brady (for whatever reason) I will welcome him as the new QB of the NEP with open arms. I'll have no problem moving on.

Plus, he can scramble.

And throws a more accurate long pass.

What separates Brady from all other QBs, including JG, is his big brain.

You really don't read my posts because I'm not sensitive at all. I just think it is stupid that people are on a internet board talking about moving on from Tom Brady for Jimmy Garoppolo because he flashed some potential in the preseason. I mean we are talking about a QB who won the SB MVP 3 weeks ago,. Why don't we hold this discussion until Garoppolo is able to lead the team to a victory in the 4th preseason game.

ya you are.....and you're missing the point......but keep at it

as well as he is playing right now, at his age, things can change quickly......but that's not an issue until it actually happens.

the point you are missing is that nobody here has said boo about getting rid of Brady....but that seems to be your contention........because you're too sensitive

Whoever is on the roster as a backup QB becomes more important the older Brady gets....simply physiology

now grow up

One aside, I am glad we've found ways to abbreviate Grapes other than "JAG." I don't believe in omens, but that one kind of bugs me. On the other hand, I had no idea for years that TFB's middle initial really was F. I thought we were saying "Tom Freakin' Brady." It seemed appropriate.

You're funnin' us, right? His name is Thomas Edward Patrick Brady.

Excuse me for reviving this red herring but...

I seem to recall a certain Colts team cutting the "greatest regular season QB of all time", a sure fire first ballot hall of famer....someone who spent his entire career with one team up to that point.

It was absolutely the right move at the time. The "Suck for Luck" was sleasy, but effective. Only a pure fanboy can't see Manning is in the spitball/vasoline tail end of his career. No one seems to have an issue with that. No one refuses to play for the Colts because they cut the forehead.

We're very fortunate Brady is still playing at an elite level. But that day is coming. I hope the parting is dignified. I don't want to see another "Bobby Orr playing on one leg for the Blackhawks" scenario. It would kill me to see Brady bumping bottom in another uniform for one last hurrah ala Montana...leave that for Manning....the classless pizza hawking turd.

Just to add...
Bill Belichick absolutely will move on when the time comes...just ask Bernie Kosar, Drew Bledsoe, Tedy Brewski, Ty Law, Wes Welker, etc.

The Bruins/Orr situation was such that Orr put too much trust in slime ball Eagleson (which was proven to be a bad decision) and Orr stopped talking to ownership directly. That led to aspects of the Bruins' proposal not being conveyed to Orr. You also had NHL owners colluding with agents over salaries. Eagleson also facilitated tampering by the Blackhawks. I.E. It was an underhanded calamity all around.

While it is possible that Brady does play for another team before he retires, I doubt that kind of epic fail that creates an acrimonious environment will happen between Brady and the Pats. BB, Kraft, Brady and TB's agent Don Yee -who according to Scott Pioli is THE most up front, ethical guy in the business are too smart and communicative for that to happen.

No way. You're just throwing in Kennedys in the middle.

Okay, so it is. I guess we have been abbreviating "Tom Freakin' Brady." I thought I read here that it was "Francis" or something.

BTW . . . guess who Jimmy Garoppolo's agent is.
