Who is worth the pick at 32?

We need a big DT to groom behind Wilfork.

That's our biggest need IMO.

2nd need is some offensive firepower. Weather it's WR/TE/RB, we need some insurance in case Gronk goes down again.
I agree about a big DT who can collapse the pocket and stop the run is the biggest need. I'd put guard up before WR/TE though.

If we could get Jordan Phillips out of Oklahoma. That'd be great

I'm torn on Phillips. I love the size and athleticism which gives him enormous upside, but I just don't think he is a very good football player right now. Far too often he is easily controlled by just the C, which for a 330lb NT just isn't good enough. He needs to be able to command double teams or dominate the A gaps if single blocked. When undersized C's are able to control you 1 on 1 I think that is a major red flag for a 1st round DT. I do love the upside though and he could certainly turn out to be a hell of a force in the middle of a defense, but he is too raw for me at #32.

I feel similarly about Benardrick McKinney, because I love his size and athleticism, but I hate his instincts. He can run and tackle, but he is far too reactive and way too often lets a guard get to him at the second level before he has made up his mind what to do.

Agree with all this 100%.

Frig man if cooper is there @ 8 I wonder if BB can convince his buddy Dimitroff to do a trade.

Atlanta could then trade up in the early 20's to get Bud Dupree to fix their pass rush, who would would probably go top 12 if the draft wasn't filled with quality pass rushers

We could snag cooper before the Giants do @ 9.

Pure BB type of player, humble and works hard, he'll of a player too. Reminds me of Reggie Wayne.

Imagine gronk, Edelman, cooper, and lafell as 3rd WR.

One can dream, haha.

If you go by the trade value chart, moving from #32 to #8 would require all of our picks this year and probably also a 2nd rounder next year.

Not even in dreams man.

I would be SHOCKED if we made the pick at #32. I'd expect us to move up or more down from that spot. Most likely we TRADE DOWN to create extra draft pick value. I think trading down to early-mid 2nd is not a bad position at all in this draft. I mean that's how we ended up with Jamie Collins.

Here's the breakdown of the deal. Basically for our late 1st round pick we received:
Jamie Collins rnd 2, Logan Ryan rnd 3, Josh Boyce rnd 4, and a 7th round pick which we used to trade for Lagarrette Blount.

Pretty awesome return on draft capital when you think about it!

I think the odds are very high that if someone offered BB a 4-for-1 trade for #32, he'd do it.

But we missed out on the goodness of Cordarelle Patterson!

If i am forced to stay put, here is a list of guys at 32 I would be happy with
Owamagbe Odiggyzuwa-it is late so I am not checking the spelling, but will be in my top 10 overall players in this draft. I am starting to worry my binkie will be gone.

Jordan Phillips-Rare size, needs some development, but disruptor from the inside position, would pair nicely with Easley.

TJ Clemmings/La'el Collins- They bring versatility and potential to be standout players at their position.

Bud Dupree/Dante Fowler- Again, scheme versatility with special traits. Both need development but the mismatches I can imagine BB coming up with put a smile on my face. Sadly both gone.

Malcolm Brown- More of that true Wilfork replacement type with some penetrating skills.

Gets a little dicey after this and would love a small trade down here, but could live with:

Marcus Peters-Can never have too many good corners and Pats depth not as good as we all thought going into season last year.

AJ Cann- does not have the versatility, but could start day 1 and be an upgrade at Guard.

Danielle Hunter-this would be a reach I know, but I see potential in him to be a Chandler Jones type and at this time in the process, Jones was not in first round conversations either. Would feel better in the 2nd with him, but I could find myself defending the pick if it happened. Would need everyone above to be gone though.

Have not watched Humpries, I see Erving as a Center, but warming more to his potential at Guard.

Danny Shelton will be long gone, but I graded him out as a 2nd rounder as a replacement for Wilfork. I know that most have him much higher, I don't see the special traits that warrant a first round grade.

I might be missing someone, but after that, there is a list of players in the 40-50 range that I would love the Patriots to get as well.

If you have Marcus Peters, then how about Byron Jones? And what about Todd Gurley?

My list is currently:

TJ Clemmings
Cameron Erving
Jake Fisher
Todd Gurley
Odighizuwa
Byron Jones

Dupree, Fowler, Collins and Brown aren't on the list because I'm assuming they are gone.

The following are guys I personally wouldn't take in the first, but if BB does take them in the first, I'd be OK with it:

Eddie Goldman
Jordan Phillips
DGB
Ameer Abdullah
DJ Humphries
Danielle Hunter
Arik Armstead

The following are in the "Well OK, but you should have traded down BB" group:
Shaq Thompson
Maxx Williams
AJ Cann
Devin Smith

None of these are in order within their tiers.

Did you suddenly Scout DBG Manx ?

Did you suddenly Scout DBG Manx ?

Not really. I finally got round to watching him and realised that there's some real talent there. I don't want him because of his many issues, but if BB drafts him that means he's passed his analysis and I'm fine with that.

Redzone offense would be scary with DGB + Gronk. And I just want Brady to have a #1 outside WR so bad.

I disagree on both your top needs, even if I see them as needs. I think interior OL is more important than both of your named needs. Our biggest problem with running the ball wasn't that our RB wasn't good enough, it was that the OL couldn't create gaps, or worse, was pushed back into the backfield. It's always nice with more firepower, but we already have 3 very good weapons in Edelman, LaFell, and Gronkowski. We need to keep Brady up and give our running backs a chance to get past the line of scrimmage.
I don't disagree with you that the interior OL is the biggest priority. But here is the distinction that's the reason the interior DL should be the first pick. It is more likely that you can fill your need of a starting OG in the 2nd third or 4th rounds, than it will be to find Vince's replacement on the DL. There are simply more guys walking the planet who can be successful offensive linemen than there are who can be successful DT's

DT is a need but at 32 I expect the Patriots to look at a player that can play all 3 downs (re: Offensive lineman) with pick 32.

Devante parker could be the pick if he slips.

Whilst I would never rule anything out completely with BB, let's not forget, he's never drafted a first round WR. I'd also add that whilst Amendola is on the team, we have three good WRs already.

Parker will be a Top 15 pick. You might get a guy like a Strong or Dmith at 32. I'll pass and hit the trenches.
