Vereen - stay or go?

Eh I'm good with Vereen, Bush, or Spiller.
Any news on the Riddler?

W-O-O-D-H-E-A-D.

He is now a FA and may come cheap after breaking his leg last October.

Ridley, who was on a bike 3 weeks after his November surgery, will come cheap for a one year "prove it" contract.

Woodhead-Blount-Ridley-Gray-Bolden with Develin as the 3rd TE/FB.

I hope we retain the Riddler I'm concerned some team is going to offer him more snaps and a few more dollars.

I think people are placing way too much importance on Faulk-like backs. Sure they are nice to have, but the main RB situation is more of a concern with Ridley coming off ACL injury not to mention his ineptitude with ball security. I hope the Pats focus on POWER running in this draft and not focus so much on Faulk like backs and WRs which are usually a failure here. Blount was horrible in the SB and against non-Colts teams---we haven't seen a workhorse back in NE in years and I think it's time. Before the Super Bowl, Vereen was a nice complementary player, but we are overvaluing him based on his 12 catch performance.

Couple things:

1. I think Ridley's ball security issues are a little over exaggerated.
2. Faulk-like backs are very important to this offense.
3. Don't we already have power running with Blount/Gray?
4. I'd love a work horse back in NE. I'm of the opinion that you should have an RB that is capable of handling 20+ touches a game which we haven't seen since Dillon.

I'd love Spiller in this offense but I think he'll be too expensive. Bush just makes so much sense. He's a better athlete at 30 than Vereen and much more dynamic with the ball in his hands. He shouldn't be too expensive either. Would love some speed on offense.

Woodhead could be the 3rd down back. As folks have posted there are lots of choices.

IMHO, if Ridley stays, then Gray is gone, gone, gone. White would be given another year to develop as the possible future 3rd down back.

RIDLEY
I would be fine with a 3 year contract for Ridley with NLTBE incentives and a significant 2016 roster bonus. This would likely end up being a one-year contract. However, if Ridley produced, he would have a long-term contract at reasonable compensation.

Woodhead is not a FA, he signed an extension in July.

A lot of options if Vereen wants too much. Besides Bush, Helu would also seem like a good fit. Moreno, Bradshaw and Bilal Powell should all come cheap, can block, run a little as well as catch. Antone Smith would add another dynamic although not sure how well he can block. All will be cheaper than Vereen. Forsett and Spiller should be in the $ range that Vereen is hoping for ($3.5-5 million).

.
They are. Over the last several years Blount has fumbled more than Ridley on a carry basis. Nobody has ever said anything about that.

Ridley just happen to fumble at some bad times but her fumble per carry is not that off the charts.

Its just things people say because its what they remember.

It is not really how many times he fumbled that was the problem, it was the way he fumbled. Because ALL rbs fumble. Ridley was very careless in the way he held it. Blount's fumbles were more of the typical kind like when it was chopped out from behind in the Bengal game or when he was dazed by the head shot in the Bronco game last year.

And before Ridley was injured it seemed that he had his fumbling issue under control but who knows if it was enough to get him out of the doghouse completely.
