Top 5 needs, no particular order:

DT
OL
WR
TE
OPR

I agree that defensive line and offensive line are 1-2 or 2-1 depending on who is available in the draft and affordable free agents. I have Linebacker as #3 on my list of needs given the overall lack of depth, Mayo's unreliability, Hightower's injury and projection that he might miss camp, and the absence of a thumper #2 SAM who can drop into coverage a bit. I think this is the first year since '07 that the secondary wasn't 1 and 1A on my list.

My list looks like this:
DT
OL - (Guard with experience as a Center)
LB
WR
RB - (Depends on what happens with Vereen and Ridley)

What are you implying with this? Lol I'm not sure if you agree or you're making fun...

It was nothing against the post, and I wasn't disagreeing with it. I just find it funny how having a player made by Swarovsky is now basically the Patriots sweet spot.

The number one priority for this team IMO is keeping this defense together as much as possible. Of they can keep Revised, McCourty, and Ayers and get good restructures from Mayo and Wilfork then they will have a top five defense next season, and as we saw this season when Belichick gives Brady a really good defense they have an excellent shot at a Lombardi. I trust that the young defensive backs will perform better with another season under their belts and the continuity of playing as a unit and don't see a need to add to it unless they lose Revis or McCourty.

On offense they need to upgrade the interior OL and figure out what they are going to do with Vereen and Amendola then they can make decisions about drafting and free agency on offense. Adding a prima Donna WR like Marshall is about as far down the list of priorities as it gets IMO.

The best news about Bush being released is leverage for the Pats. The more 3rd down options on the market the better likelihood Vereen stays at a discount or we get a guy like Bush who can fil the same role as good if not better.

Right now we have LaFell, Edelman, Amendola, Dobson, Tyms, Boyce at WR.

Do you think that is a bigger need than Revis?
We have Chung, Wilson, Ebner and Harmon at S. Is WR a bigger need than that?
We do not have a starting LG, and when he was out the OL struggled. Is WR a bigger need than that?
At RB we would be relying on James White or Brandon Bolden in the Vereen role which is 50% of the snaps. IS WR a bigger need than that?
We have no K. Is WR a bigger need than that?

We always need WRs but right now we have greater needs.

you're like talking to a wall

We don't have to seek out a kicker or a revis. We just have to sign them.

This discussion is based on finding players. Not resigning ones on the roster. If gost and revis get away that changes

Amendola was good for like 2 games. He's not reliable.

Dobson, tyms and Boyce? Oh boy look out nfl. I'm putting you on notice for the offensive onslaught headed your way

Eagles cut guard Todd Herremans. Pats might have interest but I suspect they will want Connolly back over another veteran.

While I agree that theoretically there are many positions that a rookie being picked 32 or later might contribute in as a rookie, I personally find it unreasonable to expect a rookie to be a major contributor, except at OG.

And I'm fine with rookies taking a year or two to make significant contributions. We have a fine team, with depth at almost all positions. We'll see who we lose in the next week, but I suspect that almost anyone we lose will be replaced by a veteran free agent.

Ideally, we will go into the draft without a real "need". However, it does seem very likely that Belichick will want to add an OG, even if the player needs a year to develop.

Also, while it is "possible" that an OG is drafted in the first round, later is much more likely. Belichick is starting a center he drafted in the 4th. Why should he suddenly thinks that he needs to use a first for a guard? I certainly would NOT object to an OG at 32 or even a move up to get one.

An offensive lineman at 32 is quite likely. This is a good draft for Guard/Center types to replace Connolly and it's loaded with wide receivers that will take up a big part of the picks ahead of the Patriots. Watch for the Patriots to take Cameron Erving G/C out of Florida State who will be there at 32 but probably gone at 64. 6'6" 310 who played alongside Stork, and then took over at center in 2014. Erving has also played some tackle in college, so he's got experience at all three positions.

Erving is a big favorite over on the draft board, and would be a logical pick. But FYI, McShay's new mock has him going #23 overall to the Lions.

I dont buy JMD would want him back. Soldier's salary becomes guaranteed on March 10. They have a decision to make. We need a FS and K. Revis needs to be retained!!!!, , We need possibly 2 running backs. A Guard, some LB and DE depth especially if one of our main DT might not be returning.

Like I said, if the Pats take care of business, on all fronts, and they can fit BM on the team while not causing deficiencies at other positions then I would welcome him with open arms. That is assuming he would have to come in at a friendly salary and JMD would want him.

On a personal note, IMO his personality may not be a match, regardless of his medical condition.

Also, I am not convinced at all that he would be the best WR on the team. Sure, he has great stats but if he cant get on the same page as Brady, which has been an issue, he wouldnt be effective.

This might be a case where "sign the beast" is warranted:

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-.../4778490/considering-reggie-bush-for-patriots

I think Reiss makes a lot of sense. Familiarity with a player, and having coaches on staff who are familiar with them, has been a factor in some of our FA signings. I can't see how we can afford Vereen at 3 or 4 Mill annually. If Bush can be had for short money, then maybe it buys you time for James White, and/or Bush returns to form from prior years.

Amendola was good for like 2 games. He's not reliable.

If 8 is like 2 then you are correct. And he was superb in 4 games.

The DA bashing is getting old. Yeah not worth 4.5 but certainly not worthless. And cutting him saves really nothing.

And we wouldnt have won the SB without him. That is certain.

The only reason that the secondary isn't 1 or 1a is that you are assuming that Revis and McCourty will be on the team March 10th.

OK, I'm fine with trading up for Erving.

And yes, I agree that this is a good draft for interior offensive linemen. I would be fine with us drafting three (depending on how Belichick views Fleming).

I just think it unlikely that Belichick drafts an OL at 32.

if this is a nfl news thread:

@AdamSchefter: Judge Doty has overturned Adrian Peterson decision and Peterson now will be reinstated, per source.

Potential free agent. He's off to Dallas if he's cut though.

Dallas can't afford Murray and dez. No way they can afford Adrian and dez

Is this true? I'll have to look back @ Miguel's works but I think we can designate him post June 1st and save more on the cap this year at least.

I think Amendola's actually an excellent guy to have as a third WR and depth for Edelman. Unfortunately, that is absolutely not worth $4 million per year in this offense. The production doesn't demand it. The question is if they can cut him and use the money to get a player equal or better and still save $$. I don't know.

I looked for you

I'm not sure if you know what superb is based on his stats.

There were only 3 games last season he had 5 or more catches.

He had more games with 0 catches
