2015 Draft Prospect Thread

I'd go with option 1. He's not projected to miss any games.

Right. DT ain't dying is he? I would re-up Casillas. I think he can be your nickel lb against some teams. Especially, those with running qb's.

She'll post a mock 5 minutes before the actual draft, after we've done the heavy lifting. Then (as usual) she'll hav ed the most accurate draft on the board. :D

:p A little too close to true this year! I'm way behind and will definitely be riding your coattails. Will try to delve in more deeply after I get a pesky work project done. Some FA clarity would be nice too.

In general, though, I'm optimistic. This seems like a fine year to be building the lines (and to NOT be looking for a backup QB!) Also, kind of amazing that this year's TE crop might actually be worse than last year's.

Using Mockdraftable as a source, Obdighizuwa's best comparable when you project him as a linebacker is Justin Houston. Third best comp is Khalil Mack. Just saying.

Tre McBride's biggest match (86%) is Chad Jackson. Bethel Johnson is an 82% match. So we know BB liked the type of receiver McBride is.

Im not saying He won't be a top 5 running back. I believe in 3 years IF he remains healthy, he will be a top 3 back, no doubt. The problem is, he's had injury problems, and he is coming off a ACL tear. I think him and Le'veon are almost identical players, the only difference which has created Gurleys draft stock to be much higher is, the fact that Gurley has done it in the SEC, which in reality, is a much harder division to run the football on.

I don't believe in veteran backs, so I want nothing to do with Chris Johnson or Spiller. The weakness of both the RB draft class, and the FA RB market this year, is the only reason I see Gurley being granted our 1st round pick. And trust me, Ive been quoted saying I think Gurley is one of the best backs to come out of college in the last 10 years. Thats considering purely talent alone. Unfortunately talent isn't the only thing you have to look at when you're looking for long term success.

I could see him being like 10th on our big board, and if everyone before him were already taken, then Id understand.

If you think he would be a top 3 back in 3 years than you take him. Hell I'd even trade up for that. When Brady retires having a RB like that would be crucial. If garrapolo can be as good as we hope than add in a RB that draws more men in the box as well as Gronk/julian that is serious offensive power. Also look at the impact Hill has for cincy this year.

I am not so worried about when Brady retires. I have no idea when that will be and we a good chance to repeat this year. Obviously the Pats RBs are not elite and getting an elite RB that can catch some as well would go a long way to improve that part of the game particularly against tougher playoffs Ds. Hopefully that with line improvements could give you more balance in next year's run.

Benardrick McKinney has been on my short list for a long time. He's an interesting guy who played at MLB for Mississippi St., but who also projects to OLB or even DE, much as Dont'a Hightower did at Alabama. McKinney measured in at 6' 4 2/8" 246# at the Combine and ran a 4.66 40 with a 1.64 10=split and a 40.5" VJ.

There are questions about where McKinney projects best at the next level, and he seems more likely to be a day 2 prospect than a day 1 at this point. Drew Boylhart of the Huddle Report (a pay per site) loves McKinney. His scouting report is eerily reminiscent of the one which he wrote about Dont'a Hightower in 2012. That one's now open access:

Dane Brugler notes:
I might be alone here, but I like the idea of Benardrick McKinney moving to DE in the NFL. Fits his skill-set best. Practiced there at MSU

I've suggested that before. McKinney has the frame to put on another 10-15# fairly easily. Another player who could line up at MLB, OLB or DE would be a useful piece. If McKinney slips, he could be an interesting target as well as someone like Danielle Hunter.

I wouldn't be thrilled with McKinney in the second, but I wondered that exact same thing.

I would love to keep Ayers, but I think that someone will pay him a lot. Like Mark Anderson. And Anderson was not as talented as Ayers.

I'd rather have Odighizuwa and Heeney than McKinney personally. I'd also be fine extending Ayers long-term and looking in other areas in the draft.

I really don't know the players in this draft class, so I was basing my suggestion on the previous comments. :D

But i liked the idea about drafting an Ayers replacement, or to draft an inside LB and use Hightower as the swiss army knife.

Awesome site!! Kinda funky when you look at Nate Solder's biggest match....Robert Gallery, who BB loved in that '04 draft. Now that i think of it, we might be looking at this LG spot all wrong...:D

Unless we have a surprise FA splurge (I would be shocked, I expect this to be a "keep our own" offseason), we could be getting some decent comp picks again if Ayers and Vereen get solid contracts. They're two I don't expect to keep.

Why not just re-sign ayers as opposed to spend a 1st round pick to replace him? He was close to an outright cut by Tenn. I don't think he's getting even decent money after playing a few dozen snaps with NE.

I would personally re-sign Ayers. And I would only consider McKinney on day 2, if he slips a bit. The more versatile hybrid players the better, and I think McKinney could be a useful chess piece, but I wouldn't spend a 1st on him.

Mockdraftable also allows you to change the position for which a player's measurables is compared. So, for example, you can look at how 6'6" 238# Darren Waller's measurables stack up as a WR, or change it and see how he compares with TE prospects. Also useful with EDGE players who can be compared to DEs and LBs, or hybrid LB/S types.

That's how I got the Odighizuwa/Justin Houston comp.
