Dez Bryant rumored to have done something really bad...

Nobody fabricated the fact that the footballs were deflated with deflate gate, they fabricated the how and why of the situation.

Again, the Pats were convicted in the court of public opinion based on rumors that have since appeared to be incorrect rumors. People are convicting Bryant in the court of public opinion based on a rumor at this point. Until the video is released (if it is ever released), it is very similar in that respect.

We don't even know if the video even exists or someone is just doing a smear campaign on Bryant. It is similar to Deflategate in that people are convicting Bryant based on a rumor with vague details and as of yet no evidence.

One key thing to remember about Deflategate: the existence of underinflated footballs is not, in and of itself, existence of sanction-worthy activity (versus, say, the Browns' text messages).

We don't know that.

That is Dez’s own fault, if he was Vince Wilfork he would be getting the benefit of the doubt, but everything Dez has done in his past would suggest this is likely true. The benefit of the doubt stops coming your way when you make people regret giving it to you enough times.

Sure - but I think the larger point is that information moves quickly these days and a huge percentage of that information is inaccurate. We should process information accordingly.
Your right it is only reported/suspected that Hernandez is a murderer, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

I like Clint Eastwood and Bourne movies and draw the line well before Speedo Briefs (let alone thongs) on guys in public...but I do believe there was a whole "internet thing" a few years ago over the shaved armpits of TB...whom I do consider a "real man."

So, I guess I meet two of your three criteria.

Oh gee, oh my...I have stubble on my pits! Tom Brady prolly has to deal with the wishes of his super-hot model wife who is from another culture. I highly doubt he'd shave them otherwise. And I can proudly state, a razor has never touched my armpits....that felt greasy even writing that.

In a court of law, yes, by definition he actually does deserve the benefit of the doubt. In the court of public opinion, what benefit of the doubt Hernandez deserved has been overwhelmed by the evidence we learned and continue to learn as the trial goes on.

To compare this situation to Bryant makes no sense, other than maybe comparing the first few days in which we learned about Odin Lloyd & Hernandez - in which time, yes, Hernandez deserved that benefit of the doubt which he has since lost the right to.

All pretty much proven:
Hernandez was with Lloyd
Lloyd seemed to be scared
Lloyd was found dead near AH home
Shells from a gun most likely (belonging to AH) were in AH rented car
AH shown on video with gun
Video system was allegedly sabotaged to destroy evidence

Never mind the fact that apparently Lloyd had dirt in AH regarding past murders.

Deflategate would need a hell of a lot more evidence to even come close to what they have on AH

OMG, somehow everything gets back to Deflategate eventually, but I think that the accurate statement would be that "nobody fabricated the fact that 11 of the 12 the footballs were underinflated by a 'few ticks' [whatever a tick is] and that one of the balls was underinflated by two psi." They could have been underinflated due to atmospheric conditions, as Mona Lisa Vito Belichick argued, or due to human intervention by the Colts or Patriots, as others are speculating. However, it is indeed possible that someone fabricated the statement that they were "deflated," since that implies a positive action to cause the deflation, which appears now to be unprovable since it is now also reported that the officials never measured the balls before the game with a meter, but rather did so by hand.

But isn't that the argument that people say about the Pats? If the Pats hadn't had Spygate, they would have the benefit of the doubt?

I'll hold judgment until a video appears but what does bother me is that the comments I've read all say that and defend Dez even though he has a history of violence. Yet everyone believed TB and BB deflated balls and called for their heads based on rumor.

I am not defending him. I just won't convict the guy based on a rumor. If the video appears and it is as bad as it is rumored to be, the guy should never play football again.

Personally, I think Bryant is a punk and I would never want him on the Patriots, but a rumor is a rumor until it is proven true or not.

Well put.

Funny, that's exactly the same thing that Greg Doyel has been using to convict the Patriots without any proof. Same goes for Ron Borges, Jerome Bettie, Marshall Faulk etc, etc, etc.......

No. He deserves the presumption of innocence until proven guilty upon the presentation of sufficient evidence to convince a jury that he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The "benefit of the doubt" is irrelevant unless the evidence is inconclusive or could reasonably be interpreted in one of two ways.

I have not been following the case closely at all, but it does seem that the evidence against Hernandez is so compelling that the "benefit of the doubt" will not come into play.

So i guess you think the Patriots are guilty and should not be given the benefit of doubt. We were punished for
You are asking for the benefit of the doubt due to a situation that was so different. The deflated footballs were a case of something being wrong with a football and a conspiracy being created around it. So many things could have factored into deflate gate, Dez Bryant being in a video is not something that could have occurred for a multitude of reason.

Does the video even exist. Why are people taking it as a fact when nothing has been produced.

The only way the Hernandez case could be compared to Deflate gate is if they were not sure if Odein Lloyd was dead.

is it video oh him choking out his mom?

You know what pisses me off about these rumors, deflategate, Jets tamperinggate and many more is it destroys the reputation of the NFL and the NFL sits on each rumor or gate instead of putting them to bed quickly. In my opinion the Jets tampering with Revis should have been resolved in less than 8 hours yet it still lingers.

Well this thread started out pointless and somehow got worse.
