If it's a low cost, low risk deal then I can't see why not ..... especially given BB's prior interest level in the guy.

He was great with Favre in Minny. Maybe he needs a good, vet QB? But his migraine issues, concussions, and chronic injuries lately scare me. At the right price with incentive money, yes. But he won't do that haha

No. The Seahawks checked in with Randy Moss after dealing Harvin to the Jets. I'd rather have Moss back than Harvin who has worn out his welcome with three franchises so far. The problems with his teammates indicate a guy who puts himself first.

Harvin's got some significant baggage, and having him in the laid back system of Pete Carroll was a terrible match. However, Seattle was a split locker room, and Harvin certainly wasn't all the problem. People forget that a lot of that team was pissed when Harvin was traded. Lynch almost refused to get on the bus to play the next game, for example.

keep the guarantees to a minimum and a definite maybe

Belichick wouldn't have shown interest in harvin in the past unless he got assurance from urban meyer.
I am sure BB got some inside info on him from Meyers but so far the Gators have not done much for the pats so am not sure how good his info is the one good player just unlucky was Aaron Hernandez,

as for Harvin he is young a nuff to sign a one year 4 million dollar contract have a nice year for the pats and go get paid some were but I think he will end up getting a long term contract at 7 million per from a team like KC

As I said in another thread - I do like Harvin as a player - maybe more in theory than in actuality. The problem is his production doesn't match his reputation, he's likely to get paid more than we deserve. I don't see us doing that. If his stock has dropped enough that he's affordable, sure I'd be interested.

Maybe the Pats are feigning interest to help induce the Rats to pick up Harvin's contract.

Depending on the contract maybe. It would only be a 1 year low guaranteed money deal and I don't think a longer deal would ever be on the table for him here. If Amendola/Vereen goes he has the skill set to replace those guys for a 1 year stop gap.

Yes he is a jerk. Yes he is a bit of a head case. Yes he is not a long term solution. However he almost always comes to play and has not shot anyone. Those are 2 things the Patriots look for : P

This offense just scored 28 points (all 4 touchdowns through the air) against one of the top 3 defenses of the last 15 years. I'm all for adding a few tweaks/pieces or shoring up the OL, but why risk a potential locker room destroyer to improve on an offense that was clearly good enough last year? There have to be safer ways to solidify this unit.

OK, so your paying Amendola $4.4M and Vereen $4.5M to maintain the offense that we had? The question is not whether we are keeping our existing offense or whether we are going to change it.

We've gone from Faulk, to Woodhead, to Vereen. I'm confident we can find an adequate 3rd down back if Vereen can't be resigned at reasonable cost.

As for Amendola, based on the chemistry he has with the rest of the receiving corp and the big plays he made in the playoffs, I'm not sure 4.4 is overpaying for him anymore. And if we come back next season with the same weapons (assuming a reasonable Vereen facsimile) but an upgrade at OG, I'm perfectly okay with where the offense is at next year. It's a Super Bowl caliber offense.

ted ginn was cut and he is pretty much the same player only he may come at a better price

Nah! I am not high on going after Harvin, but he is worlds better than Ginn. Ginn isn't all that good of a returner anymore. And he never was a good receiver.

Just post image location where you would post a image url..really same thing as photo

Is this English?

I know how to upload an image or a gif, but I haven't a clue what you are saying here.

It's weird, on one hand he could be a brilliant system fit here in a role somewhere between Wes Welker and Shane Vereen -- just repeatedly getting him the ball in space using throws that, to Brady, are basically just extended handoffs.

But then there's the whole part about he he's not just an 'attitude problem' guy, but is probably closer to the Albert Haynesworth tier of "keep this guy away from your locker room at all costs. He'll **** up your chemistry by being a genuinely awful person." If he couldn't be happy in Seattle last year under Pete Carroll, making the tons of money that he was making, then I just don't see him being worth any kind of risk here.

It really is kinda remarkable how quickly Amendola has shifted the narrative. Two months ago, I thought cutting him to save $1.6M in cap space made sense. I'm still not sure if he's worth his overall cap hit, but $3.6M of it is a sunk cost anyway, so I think he stays since it would be cheaper to keep him than replace him with a similar caliber of player.

I agree. He would be an upgrade over the Edelman injury insurance policy. I would not go through all the machinations speculated to keep his waaaaaaay too high salary, but replacing Amendola does not hurt much.
Hey NFLmac, you know that the Edelman insurance is Amendola, right? Oh, and regular season counts too.

reportedly, the team was very interested in him in the draft if he fell that low

You would have a sure fire HOFer if you put Edelman's heart/head in Harvin.
But since we can't, I say "no thanks." No place for a "just give me the ball!" head case on the Pats. Randy Moss found that out the hard way.

Look, this isn't rocket science. Harvin would kill it in a Pats uniform with Brady throwing to him. He would be an absolute weapon to be accounted for every play. I can see why he is perceived as a douche by many but I'm not sure if it's all warranted. I don't know the guy personally and maybe Tate deserved it for all I know. I don't like his health issues, I don't like that it has been mentioned that he may be cancerous. Also heard teammates love him.

Like most players Belichick brings in I'm always ready to give them a shot at redemption in hopes it's a two way street for both his career and our winning another championship.
