I think Revis talking about how indispensable McCourty is indicates he is thinking of staying put.

I am leaning twords that as well. Nothing for sure..but a good sign IMO

Does anyone think that Belichick wouldn't be willing to pay Revis 5/$70M with $35M-$40M in guaranteed money?

Depending on structure, the 2015 cap savings could be anywhere between $5M and $15M.

It'd be nice if our curiosity could be satisfied as fans and we actually got the real scoop on offers. Of course that's not going to happen. To answer the question--I think that may be pushing it for Belichick. Of course, others disagree. It will be interesting to see what happens.

So if he suffers a huge injury the pats would be on the hook for his unpaid guarantee money? Which could be 25 million or so? That might be a problem.

Top players are worth the risk of a high amount of guaranteed money. Welcome to contracting in the NFL.

You might consider other top on-QB contracts signed in the past 2 years, say those for over $10M a yea AAV and check on the amount of guaranteed money. Revis will find that his age may somewhat limit his guaranteed money. As was posted earlier, Sherman got $40M and Peterson $48M.

I would definitely pay that, but I think that's probably as high as I would feel comfortable with. Maybe more per year if it were fewer years/less guaranteed, but 5/$70m and $40m guaranteed sounds like a sweet spot for both parties.

Several other teams out there might pay more ...

So yes ... I agree with you ....
would actually be a very decent deal especially if Brady/Belichick grab one more ring.

I don't think Pats will offer that much in terms of years..it should/will be around 3-4 years IMO

Not even a little

I'd be surprised if they sign anything north of 4 years 55M

Speculation piled upon speculation, piled upon speculation. If we want we could produce this kind of article every day from now until 3/10. Was there a single thread of actual fact in the entire article? Did you ever get the impression that the author knew anything more than you did?

All that being said, here's MY bit of speculation. The fact that we haven't heard ANYTHING from either side bodes well for him coming back, IMO. IIRC his negotiations with Jets always seemed to be played out in the press. And in another piece of pure speculation., if he eventually does sign with the Pats, I doubt very much his AVV will be more than $14MM/yr. That's the number for the Sherman and Peterson deals, and that's the AREA the Pats have to be in to keep him.

If I wanted to speculate even more, I'd guess about the length of the deal and how much of it would be guaranteed, and then how those guarantees would work,, because as we know, there are all kind of guarantees. And if this deal is like other big deals, It will sound like its a lot more when its first announced than it actually will be when all the details come out later. In fact THAT is pretty much the ONLY thing we can count on at this point.

In other news, is that there will probably be ANOTHER Revis signing story tomorrow. :D

Interesting for its potential (and only potential, I'm not pimping anything) impact upon the RB FA situation:

At the scouting combine last week, Panthers General Manager Dave Gettleman left the strong impression that running back DeAngelo Williams had played his last snap as a member of the team.

On Monday, Williams confirmed that Gettleman’s message was received correctly. Williams told WBTV that Gettleman told him last week that the Panthers will be releasing him as they move toward the start of the new league year.

31 + coming off injury season = smaller money on a short term deal

Reports are Adrian Peterson could be available but is all but certain going to Dallas.
I would love for BB to get on tbr phone with him and pitch him on Superbowl aspirations.
We might be the only team who could make him reconsider Dallas.
The report is that Peterson said he will never suit up again for the Vikings.

Have confidence Revis, McCourty & Gostkowski are back & Mayo will restructure. Concerned we may have issues with Wilfork. Doubt Vereen will receive his market value with the Pats

Well according to Deion sanders he's spokdn to Revis, apparently he's signed a 6 year deal paying him annually 8.5 a year.

I'm just going what after another poster stated, it was said live on NFL network.
Who posted it? Sounds like it'd be all over the news if something lIke that was said on NFL Network.
