The 2015 NFL Combine Thread

Mike Loyko points out that Dont'a Hightower ran a 4.62. Speaks to his athleticism considering his size.

Paul Dawson has lost himself some money. 3 down linebackers don't run 4.95.

Watching the 40 yard dash is so boring! Yawn! I like watching that drill where the D-lineman were going backwards, sideways and then catching the ball and running forwards. I can't wait until this 40 yard dash is over.

Seriously, he's become my candidate for "combine's biggest loser" with those 40s. A Brandon Spikes-level drop might be in store for him.

Worse. At least Spikes had size. I love Dawson's tape but I think he struggles to get into the top two rounds now.

Bud Dupree much slower on his 2nd run, apparently recovering from a groin injury and won't do the other drills.

Eric Kendricks pulls up after his 1st 40 and won't do his 2nd run. Probably out of the other drills.

Bernardrick McKinney 4.69 2nd time, 1.64 split. Much better.

Hoping for a Dawson free fall. Great value with one of our 3rds. Even if he's limited at the next level he's a good football player and BB would utilize his strengths.

Only had a 28" vert too. At this point I think I'd rather have Stephone Anthony who is bigger and more athletic.

Interesting to compare Hightower and McKinney. Hightower heavier, McKinney taller. Hightower a bit faster (4.62 vs. 4.69) with a little better short area burst. But McKinney with a 40.5" VJ. Hightower did poorly in the SS and 3C - it will be interesting to see how well McKinney moves in space. If he goes day 2, he could be an option.

I'd rather have Bernardrick McKinney with his 4.69 40 and 40.5" VJ at 6'4" 246#. Versatility to play inside or out, or move up on the edge.

I'll rewatch both but I think I prefer Anthony in space. Depends on value - I don't really want a LB in top 64.

Shaq Thompson 4.69 2nd attempt, 1.72 split. A little better.

Max Valles 4.87 2nd attempt with a 1.66 split. The split isn't terrible, but it's still pretty bad.

I'd at least consider McKinney if I thought he could be another movable piece who could be used all over, including at DE.

Maybe. I don't think he's as good as Hightower. Still think the top two rounds is a bit much for a LB but McKinney certainly is flexible. Would have preferred Dupree for that role but that might end up a pipe dream.

I'll have to check him out.

@JoshNorris: Just to brace myself, I think Paul Dawson's official will be 5.0+

Interestingly, when NFL compared Shaq's first run to Le'Veon Bell and Chancellor, he was right close to their 4.6s. Wouldn't be surprised if his official time ends up being a good bit faster than 4.71
