The 2015 NFL Combine Thread

I really hope we dont take a rb in the first round. I really like jordan phillips from the tackles.

Like Conley's hands, it could be a technique thing. Abdullah has improved in that area year on year. He also has the reputation as one of the smartest guys out there football wise. BB will like that.

I think BB prefers having RBBC of average or even sub-par RB's that don't fumble (Benjarvis Green Ellis, Blount), rather than a star RB that fumbles often.

Example of why Charlie Casserly is no longer serving as a GM:

When asked about Winston, his first point was that he was disappointed in the 40 time.*

*In his defense, the rest of his breakdown was solid.

DL Bench Presses. Of note:

Mario Edwards - 32
Jordan Phillips - 28
Marcus Hardison - 27
Malcolm Brown - 26
Danielle Hunter - 25
Odighizuwa - 35
Armstead - 24

Still waiting for other results like Goldman.

Vic Beasley with 35 reps was surprising.

WR is a little far down on our list of priorities, but:

FSU WR Rashad Greene - 4.53/40, 1.53 & 1.62 10-yard split, 36.5 VJ, 10'2" BJ

Pretty good explosion numbers, and he's rumored to be very smart and runs very good routes. Unfortunately I can't find any 3 cone or short shuttle numbers yet.

For those who like Amari Cooper, he posted a sick 3.98 SS and 6.71 3C.

Some other numbers of note:

- Sammie Coates: 6.98 3C, 4.06 SS
- Chris Conley: 7.06 3C, 4.30 SS
- Justin Hardy: 6.63 3C, 4.21 SS
- DGB: 6.89 3C, 4.45 SS
- Tre McBride: 4.08 SS (3C not up yet) - outstanding
- Kevin White: 4.14 SS - outstanding for a split end

- Ameer Abdullah: 3.95 SS; supposedly the best SS and 3C among the RBs
- David Johnson: 6.80 3C - another spectacular result for a 224# guy

More RB 3C and SS times up:

- Ameer Abdullah: 3.95 SS, 6.79 3C
- Jay Ajayi: 4.10 SS, 7.10 3C
- Buck Allen: 4.28 SS, 6.96 3C
- Melvin Gordon: 4.07 SS, 7.04 3C
- David Johnson: 4.27 SS, 6.82 3C
- TJ Yeldon: 4.22 SS, 7.19 3C

Compare Darren Waller with Jimmy Graham from 2010:

Height: Waller 6' 6 1/8" / Graham 6' 6 2/8"
Weight: Waller 238# / Graham 260#
Arm Length: Waller 33 1/8" / Graham 35"
Hands: Waller 9" / Graham 10 5/8"
40: Waller 4.46 / Graham 4.53
10-split: Waller 1.58 / Graham 1.53
SS: Waller 4.25 / Graham 4.45 (later 4.39 at his pro day)
3C: Waller 7.06 / Graham 6.9
VJ: Waller 37" / Graham 38.5"
BJ: Waller 10'5" / Graham 10'

FSU runs a pretty sophisticated passing attack. I wouldn't mind a Wr with Supple 3 or early 4th. Greene, Lockett and McBride could be decent candidates

Backs
Gurley
Dyer
Johnson

Wide outs
Coates
DGB
McBride

Happy with any of those 6

Before you criticize me for the DGB I don't care about how he tests in shorts he is a Dez Bryant clone.
Same hands height smooth strider and makes contested catches over guys and while being hit.
If he doesn't care about football if a coach and QB like ours can unlock a animal or light a fire he could be the best wide out In the draft.
Who here wouldn't of felt better about a DGB in a goal line set this year?

Down at the goal-line, it's often about sudden-ness and quick twitch. It's okay posting decent numbers at the Combine but does it translate to the field? I'm not sure it does in DGB's case.

Taller WR's are better in that zone between 40-20 yards, at both ends of the field, where you throw a deep out or a sideline fade.

And it must be said, we had one of the best offenses in football, especially down at the goal-line. If any team should be looking for a taller receiver, then it should be the Seahawks. Who knows, they might have beaten us with one? ;-)

And I have no doubts Cooper will be the best pro out of the lot. He's been held back by the offense at 'Bama.

Scared of Alabama offensive players.
A good amount of them had flopped.
Chances are that he is a stud In the Roddy White, Antonio Freeman class.
I just wouldn't take him early when you have Quality receivers and some with similar reward at a lower risk with a lower pick.
This year more than ever ik trying to trade down if i have a pick in the 15 to 24 range.

For all the David Johnson love, compare:

- 2015 David Johnson: 6' 0 1/2" 224#; 4.50 40, 1.57 10-split, 4.27 SS, 6.82 3C; 41.5" VJ, 10'7" BJ
- 2014 Tyler Gaffney: 5' 11 1/2" 220#; 4.49 40, 1.51 10-split, 4.18 SS, 6.80 3C; 36.5" BJ, 9.8" BJ

Johnson seems a bit more explosive based on his VJ, but Gaffney may be more agile. He rushed for 1700 yards in the Pac 10 his Senior Season and has excellent receiving skills.

Julio Jones is the only offensive player who has thrived in the NFL at the wide out position again scared of Sabans offensive players I think Cooper will be really good but not the best of the class.

From Tony Pauline:
Defensive lineman Marcus Hardison suffered a minor knee injury during the Senior Bowl which has hampered his training. As a result Hardison will not participate in the combine and will workout for teams during the ASU pro-day.

Excellent news as far as keeping Hardison a bit under the radar for now.

HAH, had the exact same thought. For a guy that is going to end up a day two pick, he may not be any better than what we already have. Gaffney definitely feels like more of a long strider, but for me its about draft capital. Also, he has some dancing feet in the backfield. He can get away with that in Northern Iowa's read-option, but he could become the new hated one.

More RB 3C and SS times up:

- David Johnson: 4.27 SS, 6.82 3C
- TJ Yeldon: 4.22 SS, 7.19 3C

Abdullah and Ajayi fumble too much and won't be on the Patriots board. David Johnson is an excellent receiver and he is #1 probable Patriot

Thoughts on Dyer?
I like the kid and rumor is the Seahawks would be all over him at 31.
Thoughts?

I liked what I saw from WR Chris Conley, DeVante Parker, Titus Davis and Jamison Crowder.
