I read that the 1971 Dolphons and 2013 Seahawks are the youngest SB champs at 26.4 years. Isn't the Patriots average age youngesr than that?

If you go by the ages of the 53-man roster when the Super Bowl was played, then the Seahawks were younger than the Patriots.

"It doesn’t look like it’s the end for this group. The Patriots were the youngest team ever to win a Super Bowl, with an average age of 25.2 years. They repelled Seattle’s bid to join greatness, and solidified their own legacy thanks to a historic performance from Brady, who set a Super Bowl record with 37 completions on 50 attempts."

Tom Brady was the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl at 24. Now I look forward to him setting the record as the oldest qb to win a Super Bowl

If they are the youngest that is very interesting. From what I've seen the exact comparison or whether they were truly the "youngest" has had differing answers. It would be nice to know for sure (it appears they were not the youngest at time of game), however, a difference of .5 year or officially being "youngest" is of no importance. The main thing is that the Patriots are in fact very young -- so if the right younger guys can be retained the Patriots are in a solid position to remain highly competitive. Sweet, very sweet...

Thought he did that this feb?

Come on guys, these are reporters. They went here:

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/2014_roster.htm

And read the number (25.2). It includes anyone who was on the team at anytime during the year (around 75 guys). Assume they're lazy, don't do research, and find the easy route. You'll rarely be disappointed.

Here is the direct quote from the Boston Herald:

"The Patriots are the second-youngest team ever to win a Super Bowl, with an average age of 25.2 years. The 2013 Seahawks (25.0 last year) were the youngest."

The Boston Globe also says that they are the 2nd youngest as well: http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2...more-titles/P2Eaa8WClUdQmkmjCzrjXJ/story.html

ESPN, on the other hand, stated that they are the youngest--so who knows?

This is a case of getting caught up in stats while missing the underlying message.

I don't care if we're 1st or 2nd or 3rd and what metric we use to determine it. The point is that this team (as well as the Seahawks) are still a very young group overall and capable of making another run. We can expect lots of internal improvement due to the relative young age of the group. Next year's team may lose a few players, but the improvement of the kids could hopefully compensate. One only needs to look at the 2014 Seahawks for proof of that.

Would love to see them again in the 2015 Super Bowl. I think 49ers fans would kill themselves before watching either the Patriots match their dynasty while Tom Brady, the kid they passed on for Giovanni Carmazzi (had to Google his name) wins a 5th championship OR their bitter NFC West rival win a 2nd championship in 3 years and start the talk of the next dynasty.
