John Berman - CNN

The article was harsher a week before he edited it. I imagine it's tough when you have kids and you're trying to control what messages they see. I had some identity crisis issues in the wake of Deflategate, but you stick by your team until the final play -- until the verdict is out. The tides have definitely turned since the initial reports, Berman might make a return to Pat fandom with a new perspective on jumping to conclusions.

Didn't notice a date on the piece, but assume it was early on. Hey, if he jumps ship I'll survive. Sounds like a weenie to me.

Typical "My **** Is Really Small & I Can't Stand It" essay
Guy talks about physics yet PV=nRT goes WOOOSH! over his head in his haste to deny his team.
If quitters like him were in foxholes in WWII we'd be eating sushi & driving Volkswagons....
WAIT!!

Says it was edited January 31, the day before the Super Bowl. I remember seeing the piece pretty early on, before the press conferences.

He put out another piece before the Super Bowl:
"So go Patriots. Crush the Seahawks with firm balls all above 12.5 PSI. Win big. I am cheering for you 112.5% percent.

But after the fact, if it turns out you did cheat in the AFC Championship game? Well, I will feel angry and guilty and you should be punished. That makes sense. And I do too. Probably."

Guy seems to have genuinely followed the team since the dark days and wrote a knee jerk op ed in the national spotlight. Judge him as necessary.

WAIT!!

What are we waiting for? ;)

I made a three hour road-trip in a Volkswagen Golf the other day, and proceeded to have some sushi for dinner after my trip.

The six-speed, manual transmission VW Golf drives like a champ. Smooth, responsive, and has some giddy-up to it. The sushi was delicious as well.

Oh, his first article was a real gem. "My kids wear Brady jerseys, what kind of dad am I to let them keep wearing the jersey of a cheater?"

I don't know. What kind of person are you to shoot first and ask questions later? Cause that's essentially what you did. GFY, John. It disappoints me that you and I are fans of the same team.

Did you watch the video?

Did you watch the video?
I did, and I remember resigning myself to the Pats probably getting sanctioned again and living through another 'gate. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday it was everywhere and I didn't know what to think. I wasn't going to abandon the Pats, but I wasn't going to wear my Pats gear in public either.

Then those magical press conferences happened on Thursday. Brady and Belichick were fighting it, and I was ready to fight with them. My new problems were not having enough Patriots t-shirts to wear under my Patriots sweatshirt and finding the right Patriots wallpaper to put on my phone and finding my Patriots fleece blanket out of storage. I must have watched those press conferences 5-10 times each.

I'm a 26yr old guy with no kids living in New York, and the force of the media coverage gave me pause. John Berman deserves some ridicule here, but ultimately I find myself sympathetic. Sometimes football stories go farther than football.

Get a life and go root for another team. Effin whiny loser. Dude is acting like like a few deflated footballs is worse than the type of BS players on other teams do.

Yes I know we had Hernandez but the Pats cut his ass the moment he was charged and still have a cap hit for it. Shows me more about their character than all these other teams. Colts, Ravens, niners, vikings, panthers, etc all stuck by their dirty ass players.

That's different from going on national television and burying them as a "fan of the Patriots".

READ what he wrote and listen to what he said on the video. Tell me how that compares to what you are talking about.

You are talking two completely different situations.

Let the concern trolls like him jump off the bandwagon. I am sure his mentality would fit in better with the team in green two hundred miles down the road. He certainly wouldn't have to worry about them cheating to win. LOL

If those of so little confidence in their HC & QB had read this forum (It was on the Front Page before being exiled here) they would have read several of us posters who correctly asserted from Day One that the psi drop was inevitable because of the gas laws.

Instead once again they foolishly listened to the national media instead, believing as gospel truth every single anti-Pats rumor.

People need to look back and assess their viewing and thinking habits.

Even "if" the Patriots had deflated the footballs purposefully, I'd still be the same fan I've been since '66!

And yes, even if I had 10 children, that would still apply.

But I hightly doubt they had anything to do with it. I was fine with spygate since it was no big deal.

I big deal to me would be piping in added crowd noise....

I don't ever click that website, but I am not surprised that such drivel oozed from the Communist News Network.

This (and many other opinions from both fans and media) is (apparently) based solely on the initial report by Mortensen. As has been pointed out many times, that report has since been refuted, and Mortensen himself has been conspicuously quiet in his lack of defending his initial claim.

That in a nutshell is the big problem with not just this event, but others as well. People heard the initial report, accepted is 100% factual, created an opinion - and then never changed their mind. The more casual the fan, the more that is the case as they are less apt to follow up on the initial story.

Same thing happened with Tomase's fabrication seven years ago. It is amazing not just how many fans think the Patriots were fined for taping the Rams' practice, but how many in the media believe - and repeat - that lie.

Unfortunately the same thing happens in many areas of life outside of football as well, but as fans of the Patriots these two negligent acts of reporting have completely framed many people's perceptions of the Patriots. Perception is reality in the mind of the beholder.

Guy is a douche.

My first son was born on 2/1/15 and he celebrated his birth and the super bowl in an infant Brady jersey. No worries on telling him anything. He's going to know he's always been a winner.

That's great. Congratulations!
