Excellent Garoppolo article

Nice article. Thanks for that link.

I really do believe that Prince Alladin is a keeper, and is being groomed as Brady's successor.

Good article, I think one of the reasons that we are so often surprised by Belichicks draft decisions is because he is not only looking at that draft class but the one that follows it as well, and the Garrapolo pick demonstrates that to the t. They knew this was going to be a really bad QB class and decided it was smarter to use a high pick in 2014 than be left holding the bag in 2015 and having to reach in 2016 to get an eventual successor for Brady in 2016. I have a great deal of confidence that Garrapolo will be ready when the day finally comes to take over as the starting QB.

Seems like a great kid. Did anyone else notice after Bulter's interception when TB started jumping up and down in the background was Garropolo celebrating and looking for someone to hug or high five and everyone else ignored him. It was pretty funny. Similar to when everyone else leaves Brady hanging for a high-five on the sidelines sometimes.

If he is the real deal and the Patriots identify it, hopefully they lock him up next year for 5 additional years at like 10m per; otherwise at best we'll get his 4th year on rookie contract as a starter and then will have to pay him 20m per if he plays well.

Brady will be playing another 5 years......BB will trade him for a first to some QB needy team. :)

Always viewed the Garropolo pick as a first attempt to find a Brady successor... considering all of the immature, high maintenance QB's in the NFL the past few years, Garrapolo seems to be the exception.

Drafted rookies can't renegotiate or extend their deals until after their third season.

Don't get me wrong I like the kid and all but I hope he never starts a game here. I hope Brady stays until he's done.

I'm still not buying that Brady and Garropolo are buddy buddy.

Hopefully, there will be some 'Behind the Scenes' stuff on the 3GTG4 or the other DVD's coming that will shed some more light.

BTW, the 'Behind the Scenes' parts of those vids are the best part to me - - we've already seen the games.

Problem is the contract situation. He would need to be extended if Brady plays out his contract. I cannot see the Patriots cutting Brady I think he has earned the right to punch his own ticket.

I like Garoppolo but he may never be a starting QB led alone Brady 2.0. Writers and guru's had the same hype for Mallett after his rookie season. I hope it pans out but right now I'm in no rush for Brady to retire.

I don't think Brady gives a rats ass if Garoppolo is on the team or not. He is probably friendly and helpful because that is what Brady does but I don't think he treats Garoppolo any different than a street UDFA.

From what little I could tell from sidelines and "Patriots Today" clips throughout the season, it doesn't look like a very friendly relationship at all at this point. Maybe in the future, but certainly not now.

Maybe that's how it works in some other places, but not in Foxboro.

Brady will punch a ticket that is handed to him by Belichick as long as Belichick feels he is the best QB option for the T-E-A-M.

It doesn't matter what Brady thinks.

It only matters what Belichick thinks.

Anyone who does not understand the chain of command the past 15 years - - yes, since the first few months of 2000, does not understand how things work in Foxboro.

Now, is it reasonable to think Brady could be top level for the next three years or more? Sure.

This is why I'll agree with you that, likely, the most important factor in Jimmy G. having a shot at the starting job here is if he signs a long-term extension after his third year.

But Brady will not be able to "punch his own ticket". He'll have to earn it.

Brady has been there for 15 years too so the chain of command you are speaking to is nothing more than what you prefer to believe. Truth is Brady is different than the other players and anyone who doesn't understand that doesn't see the bigger picture of what he is to this franchise and what he has done for it.

I don't know, I have always said I would wait until Brady shows real signs of decline before seriously thinking about the successor but after the Super Bowl this year he looked completely spent. It's obviously a long season and he was sick so there is clearly going to be a toll taken but that was as exhausted as I have ever seen him. He's as competitive as they get and had no desire to hang them up but if he wins another Lombardi he may well decide he's had enough in a couple of years. Either way getting Garrapolo good and ready is the right approach. Hopefully we will see an Aaron Rodgers like succession that keeps them them,in the hunt every year. We will see?

I completely disagree with you there. And so does Tom's dad.

Let the Washington Redskins wallow in the idol worshipping. It leads straight to last place.

I don't think it ever has been suggested that they're buddy-buddy. More like mentor-understudy. Brady is 14 years his senior. Like you, I'm interested in learning more about him.

I really can't imagine Brady playing five more seasons. Maybe three at the most. God bless him, he's an incredible player.

i think it would have been better if alladin came out of college 2 years after he did...but i guess thats just wishful thinking

i think Brady has more good years left than anyone including BB and the pats thought he did a few years back

You know what happens when you push a player who has won 4 SBs and continuously taken team friendly deals sacrificing money for the greater good out the door? Nobody wants to play for you, a business that shows zero appreciation for their employees has the shelf life of this thread.
