WTF ESPN?

People still watch/listen to ESPN?

it was a joke, but let me explain their ratings in new England.

They are on the basic tier. At the gym one can watch the 700 club, Kelly and Michael or Hoda and Kathy Lee, reruns of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air (I have no idea why, but assume some other show ended and it was next), or SportsCenter. Since I have a penis and am relatively sane...

As for the radio, there are many places on the bus where WEEI fades out. However the Portuguese language station, and the guys playing ESPN have strong signals. Not being able to speak Portuguese, I bought an iPod.

The frustrating thing is friends and message board folk that I talk to all the time were ALL OVER Deflategate when it first broke, 'Cheatriots should fire Belichick', 'how can anyone believe them ever again?' 'all their SB's are tainted'...based on nonsense. Same stuff bubbled up (to a lesser extent) a few days ago when the McNally stuff 'broke'.

Now, when I vehemently defend the team, call them biased idiots and send them all the latest to keep them up to speed on this non-scandal (well, at least for the Patriots since it looks like the NFL and Kensil need to get their house in order) all I hear is 'this is why everyone hates you, you're all arrogant blowhards claiming everyone's out to get your precious team'. They can't see--or refuse to acknowledge--that they and the media are the reason this story blew up, the Patriots ARE targeted unfairly. It's why I was so ridiculously pissed at how cameragate played out, because everything since then has been lead with 'can we ever trust BB after Spygate?' It's ****ing ********.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Check out some Bebel Gilberto and learn a little.

It is mind-boggling that ESPN says NOTHING about their own blatantly wrong report.

That would be like Brian Williams staying on the job and never mentioning his tall tales.

It was annoying how ESPN did not heavily cover the Tomase/Herald retraction in practice-tape-gate, but at least it wasn't their own report (but they had shouted out the accusation for 24 hrs). This is not excusable.

I wonder if, generally speaking, ESPN thought out their strategy with this story. For the past month, they have been using most of their NFL analysts to proclaim the Patriots are cheaters, Brady and Belichick are liars, etc. What are they going to do say next season if the league finds no wrongdoing by the team? If they need Bettis, Cris Carter, Brian Dawkins, Keyshawn, and so on to say something positive about New England heading into a game next October, how can they be taken seriously?

Here's my Patriots press release.

Dear members of the media and NFL posse,

we won. Go **** yourselves.

Sincerely yours,

New England Patriots - Super Bowl champions.

ESPN is no worse than Kirk Minihane. He needs to be fired:

"I believe this was a Brady operation. Am I supposed to believe that a rogue equipment manager or ballboy was monkeying around with equipment before a championship game? That's simply not believable! Brady runs the ship."

What's amazing is that whatever happens, we as Pats fans will see it for what eventually comes out.

But far too many average fans will say that whatever finger pointed first, pointed best, especially if it pointed at the Pats.

Regardless of what the league finds they'll still say the same stuff. It's what they and 95% of their viewers believe and want to hear.

Earlier this week, for a fleeting few hours or even the better part of a day, I really thought exoneration, apology and national realization of how the Patriots were wronged in this whole mess was about to happen.

Stupid me - now I'm back to " they hate us cuz they ain't us " and " embrace the hate ", and **** it, with a capital F, that's OK too........

It's going to be an awesome night seeing banner #4 up there in between the girders!! I remember after #3 was put up and wondering how they would ever find room to fit all that were surely coming along, I never thought it would be 10 years until that " next one " , but we got bingo, again. And now, I can look up there and wonder how are they ever going to fit #5 and beyond!!

There you go Frank! We're on to Santa Clara. (apparently that's where SB 50 will be....)

Where has Tedy Bruschi been lately?

Amusing article about the Dolphins purchasing tape of the Patriots signals back in 2006.

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/02/12/throwback-thursday-nfl-handled-spygate-accusations-very-differently-in-2006/

John Clayton (on what the Dolphins did) on 12/16/06:

"Teams are always trying to steal signs and signals off other teams. That's just football."

John Clayton (on what the Patriots did) on 9/14/07:

"Bill Belichick and his team deserved a much stiffer penalty than fines and loss of picks they got for spying on the Jets."
