In his column where he points out how everyone is a loser in the DeflateGate deal (of course leaving out how ESPN covered themselves with crap), he takes time to point out how he is a victim in all of this for speaking up for the rest of the country despite being berated by both Pats and Colts fans for being a petty loser.

From his latest column:

As it relates to me, who went as hard after the Patriots as anyone in this or any other market, did I lose? Depends on your perspective. Some Colts fans told me I was embarrassing our city, making us look like whiners and poor losers. Lots of Patriots fans said the same thing, albeit more colorfully. Am I a Colts homer? Or one of the majority of people around the country — who just so happens to live in Indianapolis — who finds it impossible to give a cheating franchise like the Patriots the benefit of the doubt? That's for the individual reader to decide.

Sympathy cards and flowers can be sent to Doyel care of the Indianapolis Star.

BTW, he never mentioned poor Jim McNally who is clearly the biggest victim in all this (at least until the Wells Report comes out and the Pats are either convicted or exonerated). McNally for nearly a day was painted as some underhanded figure who knowingly tried to sneak a tainted ball into the AFCCG and never received as much as an apology. Yet Doyel feels bad for himself because fans from both the Pats and the Colts attacked him on Twitter for being an arse.

I don't remember who Greg Doyel is or what he said... The only Indy beat reporter I remember is Kravitz.

Doyel has had it in for the Pats even before he got demoted from CBS Sports nationally to Indy Star. But he spent the entire Super Bowl week going from local Boston radio show to local Boston radio show calling Brady and Belichick liars and calling for the Pats to be thrown out of the Super Bowl and Belichick fired and saying this cheating scandal is as big as the Chicago Black Sox scandal.

“In 1919 the Black Sox rigged the World Series to lose it. In 2015 is what is being accused is the Patriots rigged the AFC championship game to win it,” Doyel said, adding, “You’€™re saying we had a team rigging a World Series in 1919 to lose it and we think that’€™s the worst crime ever. Having a championship game rigged to win it, it’€™s in the same sentence.”

When questioned about how he could compare the magnitude of potentially adjusting air pressure inside footballs to fixing a World Series, Doyel didn’t back down.

“It’€™s rigging a game,” he said. “Either you’€™re playing on an even playing field and giving the other team a chance to win it or lose it fairly, or you’€™re rigging the game. It’€™s rigging the game. I don’€™t know what else to say, it’€™s rigging the game.

“The football is the most basic thing you play with. That’€™s the actual ball and it’€™s every single play.”

With such level headed arguments like that, it was unfair to attack him.

Lmao, another one with the "perception is reality" cliche, except perception isn't reality ******, reality is reality, and in this world's reality the Patriots are once again the World Champions and the Colts are just another notch on their belt, actually. Make that two notches, and if they awarded style points even the East German judge would have given them 10s for their drubbings, yes, that's plural, drubbings of the hapless Colts. And if the hapless Colts don't go out and do something dramatic and all encompassing to fix their defense it will be the same story next season, and the one after that.

Have a good cry Greg Doyel, but be sure to save some tears because you are going to be needing them the next few season.

Any real football writers who think Spygate is anything more than a load of crap are naive. Can't think beyond a 7th grade level. And, aren't worth reading about anything else.

A Colts beat reporter is bringing up the Black Sox throwing the World Series to compare to Deflategate...? Did he bring it up so often defending the Suck for Luck season that he does it on reflex? Losing is better than winning when it comes to "rigging the game"?

No wonder Colts fans have been calling him out.

Never mentioned Sucking for Luck. It is ok to rig games to lose enough games to get the #1 overall pick in the draft the year that the #1 pick is the most touted QB to enter the draft since their current (at the time) QB when he was drafted over a decade earlier. That is just good clean fun.

Deflategate: Everyone lost including me

Not everyone lost Greg, the Patriots won a SB, and Brady became the Goat. But it's fair to say Doyle is definitely a loser.

Well, did you read Doyel's column, when (not if) the Pats are found guilty in the Wells Report, the Pats will be stripped of the Super Bowl title.

This is what is called a bottom-level sportswriter. Can't get out of a two stoplight town like India-no-place, so the only way to really get his name in lights for 15 minutes is to troll Boston.

"......Gregg Doyel, a columnist at the IndianapolisStar, published a column saying that if found guilty, the Patriots ought to be taken out of the Super Bowl. “Here’s how it works,” Doyel told me. “If you write something and it’s compelling enough, it leaves a mark. Boston went nuts over what I wrote. You know why? Because I left a mark. I’ll take that.”

This guy isn't a journalist, he's just out there trying to "leave a mark":

Hey kids, let's all go up to that mansion on the hill, ring the doorbell and run away!!!!

Poor little Hoosiers.

Even before all of this and he was still with CBS Sports, he used to go on the Adam Jones show at night a few times a year during the season and talk about how Brady was washed up and the Pats' talent was horrible because Belichick is a horrible GM (and this was before it was fashionable to make these points around week 4 of the season). He has always trolled the Pats fans.

All I know is when we were jumping up and down and acting like nuts because our Pats won
SB #4.Kravitz,Doyel and Borgess(Stooges Extraordinaire) were ordering a double of
whatever they were drinking and looking on in misery.Just think of the weeks worth of
stuff they had written all crumpled up before them never to be seen by the haters.

What Doyle is basically saying:

"Personal bias is more important than facts and journalistic ethics, and because agrees with that I am justified in saying whatever I want, consequences be damned, fair or not."

Nice to hear that the Colt fans have called him out for the BS.

Maybe he should move to Oakland or Pittsburgh. He won't have that problem there.

...linking to to what I last night called the worst article yet on Deflategate, written by Ron Borges. Sorry Borges, that title is no longer yours.

I read Borges' article. He does realize that he was fired from the Globe for committing the worst form of cheating a journalist could commit? Ok, he "retired" from the Globe two weeks after coming back from serving his two month suspension for cheating (Even though he is serving his retirement by writing for the Herald). I don't get how he even has a right to be on a high horse on this.

I am disappointed in Dale and Holley and Thornton for blasting the article today without pointing out that Borges is a caught cheater.

Think of all of the pain and heartache the Patriots 4th quarter comeback and Malcolm Butler's last second goalline interception has caused Ron Borges, Dan Shaugnessy, Michael Felger, Tony Mazzerotti, Greg Doyel, Bob Kravitz, Tim Benz, Marshall Faulk, Tom Jackson, Mark Brunell, Mike Francesca, John Tomase, etc,etc,etc.....

Then smile.

Feel free to add anyone a-hole crybaby hater you can think of to the list, it just make the smile that much wider.

Felger was especially funny this week crying about how no one has given him a plausible explanation how the Pats' balls deflated and the Colts' didn't. No one has given him a plausible explanation because all the balls deflated. It is impossible for a football to go from a 70 degree environment to a 40 degree environment for an hour and a half to two hours without deflating. If the Colts' balls didn't deflate, then they were tampered with. It defies the laws of physics if they didn't.

The question is what level were the balls at when they were gauged by the refs.

What's funny about Borges, Breer, and all the other clowns is they like to sell this "I'm not being a fanboy, I'm being objective." line of ********. The Patriots are objectively a great team, have a great coach and great QB. Their run of success is nearly unprecedented, probably only the Niners come close.

How would it look if you were a reporter during the Niners dynasty and just ripped on them about bad drafts, bad picks, bad coach, etc., etc. Basically complaining, while the team is doing it better than anyone has ever done it?

You would objectively look like a f***ing idiot. An idiot who doesn't know **** about football, or history. That's their legacy as writers, the guys that couldn't recognize greatness even when they had the once in generation job of covering greatness. One day people will pull these articles from the archives and be like "What the hell were these idiots watching? Sounds like they're covering a 5-11 team." A legacy of being a dumb ****, captured on the Internet for all to see.
