So... the NFL lied. It WAS a sting operation.

Does anyone know or heard of the basis on which Grigson notified the league of their concerns about the footballs before the game.

Grigson wouldn't comment. Maybe because the league has told him not to talk about the subject at all, however, naturally he disobeyed that in addressing deflate questions yesterday. I tend to think the source of the suspicion is going to either reflect poorly on the Colts or be murky.

Unless it comes out they had these concerns in November, then they got these concerns in the week leading up to the game. Which makes me tend to believe the Ravens are involved. Considering we know several Ravens were interviewed for the investigation, per Harbaugh, and Harbaugh would only say he was not involved "per se," I have what I feel is a justifiable hunch on where the [flawed] idea that the Patriots were tampering with balls germinated.

My current guess is that it went from Harbaugh to Pagano and they used Grigson to push it to the league so that the coach wasn't involved. It would be a waste of Pagano's time when he should be game-planning, and coach on coach crime does not reflect well. If the Wells report shows Grigson's reasoning were ambiguous, it will further support this conclusion for me.

Take that for what it's worth: Tom Brady & Bill Belichick have not been interviewed by the investigators - perhaps out of availability - but Ravens have.

The words Integrity and NFL can no longer be used in the same sentence... they have proven to be nothing short of an embarrassment to the whole league.

Don't bank on this "report" telling all that much, it is commissioned by the NFL and thus it will have the appropriate NFL answers.. Goodell will not be shown in a bad light, some lackie maybe.. but not Roger or Kensil..

Even if the Pats are completely exonerated Goodell will not be to blame.. after the lackie is fired, then Roger will announce some sweeping changes to make sure it does not happen again.

Interesting. I did not know that Ravens were interviewed regarding the investigation. When did Harbaugh disclose this? Why hasn't the press been all over this (Oh wait... I was thinking they are critical reporters and analysts of facts...strike that).
I would say your hunch has merit. Why would the NFL interview Ravens unless they were tied somehow to the source of the complaint.
And what does "per se" mean (in and of itself) in this context. Is that Harbaugh's way of distinguishing directly vs. indirectly?
What a weasel!

From WEEI:

the whiniest head coach in the league said:
Although during Super Bowl week Harbaugh admitted some Ravens had been interviewed as part of the investigation, Wednesday speaking at the NFL combine, Harbaugh said the Ravens were never involved in Deflategate.

“I wasn’t a part of that, per se,Harbaugh said to reporters when asked if he had been interviewed. “As far as any other parts of that, or who was or wasn’t … first of all, I don’t know very much about it. And anything I do know I can’t comment on it. I really don’t care to to be honest with you. It’s in somebody else’s hands. We were never involved with it to begin with. We’ll just leave that for the people that are involved with it.”

Oh, and Pagano is another f###### liar (ex-Raven, thus no surprise). He claimed yesterday that though Grigson obviously knew, he didn't. What??? And everyone remembers Pagano saying the week of the AFCG that he intended to call Harbaby to discuss the Patriots' eligible/ineligible receivers formations. If anyone believes delated footballs weren't part of those conversations, I gotta bridge to sell 'ya. What a crew of despicable hypocrites.

I'm with you. I also think it's funny that Pagano can proclaim that accusations the Colts deflated the Patriots balls are "ludicrous" yet say he didn't know anything about it until the next day.

So I looked back and it was actually Schefter who reported that the Colts initially complained to the league in November.

Interesting. He's been the most reliable person to date. That would undermine my Harbaugh theory.

However, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense - how could the Patriots deflate in a road game? If the AFCCG is to be taken as example, the home team attendant takes both sets of balls out once approved by the official.

So, if it was a sting (and I think it was) then the league was theoreticallly willing to allow one of its Conference Championship Games to be played with defective equipment in order to "bag" arguably its premier franchise. Dale Arnold was correct today when he renamed all of this "Hatergate."
"Dale Arnold was correct." That's a sentence that isn't said much. :)

Why would the league have interviewed Baltimore players regarding this investigation?

Don't give up on your theory just yet.

Good point.

As Schefter himself said, this is a very murky situation, and there may be several things going on. So any attempt to succinctly wrap this thing up and plainly blain it on one person or faction could fail. I mean, heck, there was a SEPARATE ball issue going on that very night!

Felger is pissed that the NFL lied and he is pissed about the half truths of the Patriots during their PC's. But he admits it didn't make any difference. Adam Jones clarifies "for that game". Okay, boys.

What half-truths from the Pats?

So will Goody make Kensil the fall guy and wrap this up?

Unless he can find a scapegoat, Mike Kensil is going to get fired guys.

I'm still in the boat of thinking Sharks of Vegas is just making lucky guesses. I'd love to be wrong though.

If your in the bookie business your job is to know stuff nobody else knows so they must have an inside source, I find it hard to believe they've been this lucky since this started.

Just going to quickly look at their track record:

Sharks of Vegas @SharksOfVegas · Feb 6
We heard some rumors that the NFL believes the Colts tampered with the D'Qwell Jackson ball but they are still rumors at this point.

The NFL report will come out before we can confirm that rumor though.....

Same day as Schefter on WEEI.

Sharks of Vegas‏@SharksOfVegas
Mike Kensil, remember that name guys.......

January 25th, same day as Curran's report.

Seems like they are like the guys that jump on the pile after the tackles been made for stats.

All the same day Patriots filed tampering charges against Kensil's beloved Jets. What a coincidence.
