I see a few people have gotten riled up, so I'll just come out and say: I kid. I kid. I obviously wouldn't really want the Patriots to play their opener on the road, but I do snicker at the look on Grigson/Pagano/Irsay's face when learning that the Patriots have requested to play their opener at Lucas Oil instead!!!!!!!

Looking at the teams we play at home, I would not be surprised if the Bills are the opener. The media loves Rex and I'm sure he will give them all the bluster to talk about leading up to the game. It's about TV rating.

Thursday Night opener. Patriots-Jaguars would get plenty of viewers. They'd prefer to save the grudge matches for later in the season.

I wouldn't want to see a Pats/Colts opener. Rather, a repeat of the 2002 opening of GILLETTE n raising the 1st banner! Pats/Steelers
The irony would b to have Pats/colts on ESPN Monday nite
You best believe that will be a primetime game! I hope the Pats obliterate those chumps in front the nation!

The NFL would never allow a potential blowout to be the very first game of the season. That said, I hope we run all over the Colts' sorry defense when we do eventually face them.

The Colts should be made to suffer "to the pain." They should have a few weeks to get used to the beat down the Patriots will be putting on teams throughout the league next season, and then have to live with the realization that they're Public Enemy #1 on the Patriots' Most Wanted list. That should give them plenty to think about as their game approaches.

No way! Screw the Colts. We left them in the dust weeks ago and I don't want the ultimate non-story of the century to once again overshadow our great team!! They don't deserve to be our opening opponent. I hope it's Buffalo, or frankly anyone else on the sked. I want to be there to open the season, see the banner raised and raise a toast to our great team. Everyone else can suck it.

Unless Buffalo somehow stumbles onto a competent quarterback, it's not going to be them. The NFL and media like marquee names on both sides of the ball and Buffalo won't provide that unless somehow manage to snag Winston or Mariota, both of which are highly unlikely. You can take Steelers/Pats to the bank.

Several years ago, the Baltimore Ravens opened on the road due to the Baltimore Orioles playoff game.

I always shake my head and laugh when Someone probably in their 20's thinks 2 years ago is 'several' years. Oh my aching head o_O

I don't know - Rex Ryan in a new place still trying to slay the same dragon is a compelling story line (better than Brady v. Big Ben, IMHO), particularly when Buffalo has played us tough as of late. But either way, forcing the Pats to open on the road, even if it's to supposedly embarrass the Colts, would be a slap in the face.

Steelers home opener please.

I'd like to play the colts before their bye so they can have 2 weeks to think about the 50 burger we'll serve em.

Steeler fans won't like it but I think they will be opening their season in Foxboro.

A. I'm not in my twenties.

B. Why do you laugh and shake your head when "Someone (sic) probably in their (sic) 20's (sic) thinks 2 years ago is 'several years'"? Several is usually interchanged with "a few"- it means more than two, but I would think hardly worthy of shaking your head to the point that it aches. I think your spelling/grammatical errors are a much more egregious violation of human intellect. Just trying to give you some constructive criticism that you may want to learn the language before outing yourself as a Jerry Rice-style hypocrite. You should really go to a psychologist, though, if you are going to shake your head to the point that it aches when someone (allegedly in their 20s but not so) uses the word "several" instead of "a couple of".

C. What leads you to believe that someone who makes a simple mistake of using the word "several" when in fact the number was two (in this case it was factual, not verbal, as I had mistakenly thought the Ravens won three years ago) would be "in their 20's (sic)" ?

D. In addition to shaking your head (violently, I presume, since it aches), why do you also laugh when "Someone (sic) probably in their (sic) 20's (sic) thinks 2 years ago is 'several years'"? I understand it is not linguistically correct, but I'm failing to understand why you find it humorous. Does the laughing part also cause your head to ache?

Actually this would be a great idea for the penalty for the Colts for the bogus failed sting operation..

They lose a home game! Instead of getting a beat down by the Pats in Lucas Oil next year, as a penalty for their involvement in Defaltgate, the Colts must now travel to Foxboro, Grigson and Pagano will be forced to watch the Pats unfold their SB 49 banner and then proceed to watch the Pats whip the Colts 73-0 on Opening night!

Terrible idea. It will absolutely be a home game , on Thursday September 10, vs a team from Pennsylvania ( I actually prefer Philly from an entertainment standpoint, but I think the league will send the steelers out way

The more that I think about it, the more I want it to be the Bills. I want Sexy Rexy to be reminded who his master is.;)

Why would you want to open on the road when the Pats are almost assuredly going to finish on the road (with perhaps 2 in a row away from home) due to the Winter Classic on Friday, Jan 1???? Makes absolutely no sense....

Brady vs Big Ben is way more intriguing IMO!

Colts are also going to need 2 weeks to set up their next sting operation.
