I've either watched ESPN TV or listened to ESPN radio most of today and didn't see or hear any mention of Adam Schefter's bombshell. Other than the online story, which was posted many hours after the revelation, ESPN is burying this story. Even on Twitter, Adam Schefter has not tweeted the story. And Mike Reiss has only tweeted once linking to the ESPN page story, but no follow up from him on the ESPN Boston site.

It's interesting, if the Patriots tampering with balls was the BIGGEST DEAL EVER, then you would think a revelation that a league official stealing a ball, and trying to put an unapproved ball into the game would be even bigger. But no,

Actual crime- meh.

Actual ball put in game that wasn't checked- now it's not a big deal if they're spec or not.

Guy that could have been doing this for years- who cares.

Shady league leaks that deflect blame from league- probably innocent mistake

If you think the Pats will be exonerated as thoroughly as they've been trashed then you will be sorely disappointed. Leaks and suspicions are like a mystery or a cliffhanger until next week's episode, fueled by hopes and speculation. A conclusive report is only exciting until the next bigger story comes out.

And let us not forget amidst the unproven accusations of potentially maybe altering air pressure, that the league has done sweet **** all when there was video of two teams actually trying to change the air pressure of balls on the sideline during a game.

And I don't particularly care about them doing it. I'm just saying if you're going to make a big ****ing deal about the potential for something like that, you can't just dismiss the teams that actually did it.

The whole thing is nonsense and had nothing to do with why the Colts got their asses handed to them again and again and again.

And again, I don't understand the argument that this helped us. We only led by 10 points in the half with the deflated balls, including a crazy INT by Jackson, his first of the year. Then with regulation balls, we outscored them 28-0.

How the **** did the potentially deflated balls help us exactly?

A lot of my non pats fan friends were all aware of "BSgate". Now they don't care so much because the sensationalism has died down. But I'm pummeling with every story that doesn't make it to mainstream media. But, as the BSPN's of the world have expected, they don't care. They all tell me "I don't care". Crazy how nobody cares when you are almost exonerated. But are so eager to hear your woes

It doesn't matter. What matters is ratings, because ratings = money. The media invents what's real and what isn't. They invent the news.

"The Patriots are cheaters" is a narrative they have built up from nothing, stone by stone, starting with Crygate and culminating with this ridiculousness. It doesn't need to be founded in reality and it doesn't matter how hypocritical it is. Television says, people believe, and new lies are built on top of old ones.

I'm done getting angry over it and feel better already.

We're all there with you, especially fans outside of New England. It really boils down to what's going to happen. Draft picks, fines, suspensions, what? For us it's the only team we really care about. For everyone else it's just 1/31 other teams, or maybe 1/16 possible playoff opponents, or 1/3 other division rivals... No one cares about this as much as Patriots fans.

This morning on Mike and Mike on ESPN2 the McNally situation wasn't mentioned until the end of the show. Greenberg expressed being increasingly confused and unsure of what hasppened. Adam S's report was mentioned without any reference to Naqi and/or OTL. Shocking.

Slightly off-topic, but on ESPN's NFL Live today the panelists were talking about Goodell and the NFL concurrently undergoing several investigations. Bill Polian was running through those (PSI, Browns texting, etc.) and mentioned Atlanta piping in crowd noise. He quickly made a short comment, something to the effect that the league doesn't care about that (fake crowd noise) since they don't see it as a competitive advantage.

This coming from the former head of the NFL's competition committee and GM/President of the club that originated the concept of piping in crowd noise to disrupt the opponent, in order to gain a competitive advantage.

Oh, the irony....

First Take mentioned it too. but they really weren't enthused about it. most people are just tired of this ******ed scandal.

I too watched ESPN OFF/on throughout the day: M+M Insiders etc. the silence was deafening

I have heard several talking heads say that piping in crowd noise is no big deal because of today's day and age with the radio communications you cannot get much of an advantage with crowd noise. Yet, every home game in KC or Seattle all that the broadcasters talk about is how the crowd noise makes it hard for the opposing team to run their offense. Hell, they even call the crowd in Seattle the 12th man because of it.

So which is it? Piping in crowd noise has no competitive advantage or loud crowd noise in stadiums like Arrowhead or CenturyLink Field creates a huge advantage? And why even bother piping in crowd noise if it has no advantage?

And another thing, if the PSI levels of the footballs are so damn important why has this whole process shown that the league does a half arsed job managing the footballs and tracking PSI levels?

Wow. Anyway to see that without supporting ESPN?

I doubt it is up anywhere. It was just a quick summation on what was going on with the league offices near the end of the show, so it wouldn't show up on some highlight clip.

Considering the source though, my jaw literally dropped when he said that. Of course nobody outside of New England would have thought twice about it though - and worse, most (other than fans of the three other NFC South teams) will hear what he said and blindly nod their heads in agreement.

And now Pagano is saying he knew nothing about the Colt's suspicions regarding the balls. If their head coach didn't know about it, who at the Colts organization did?

fwiw, Schefter dropped the bombshell on NFL live on Wednesday.
