Grigson said the Colts notified the league earlier in the week of the AFCCG about some concerns with the Patriots.

So if colts ran to the NFL before the game and the NFL didn't tell Pats of the concerns then doesn't that pretty make this whole thing a sting?

It also raises even more suspicion about the ball the colts intercepted.

Yep, looks like a sting. Also looks like Kensil used the league employee's misconduct as a a reason to test all the Patriots balls, maybe under the initial guise it was McNally who gave the ball to the actual game official (leaving out the part about the misconduct of the NFL's own employee). This whole situation stinks...

Can we believed his any more than all the others reports? This whole thing is gone well beyond crazy.

Thank goodness NE won...

Yes you can believe this because it is coming for a guy who said he did. This is not a report quoting an unnamed source. So it was a sting, they had cameras and it appears they don't see any wrong doing on the Patriots.
Now I wonder if Goodell knew and did not tip the Patriots about this concern.

Gee, I wonder where they got that idea?

Man I hope this thing unravels.

Pissy Harbaugh whines to his former colleague about those damn cheating Patriots, not knowing a) kicking balls are handled differently b) PV = nRT. Colts tell the league in advance and they send their Pats hating heavy Kensil to oversee. Colts intercept a Patriots ball, gauge it on the sideline, therefore lowering it. Hand it to Kensil who measures it himself. All the while, Clausius rolls in his graves over their ignorance to gas laws.

So because a bunch of dumbasses didn't realize colder air would depressurize a football, this entire mess happened. Beautiful.

Let me get this straight:

1. The Colts were adamant about busting the Patriots for underinflated balls.
2. The NFL (Kensil) decided to run a sting operation.
3. The NFL officials did not record the PSI of the balls before the game.
4. Kensil himself (a Patriots hater) personally tested the balls and didn't record the PSI at halftime.
5. There is no outside supervision or recording device to document anything.

Wow, Kensil must have extensive training from FBI sting agents.

Guy was at the combine still rambling on about how he had no part in this. The lady doth protest too much, mehtinks.

If you look carefully, he says he had no part "per se." He's leaving open the possibility/reality he was peripherally involved.

If this was indeed a sting - it was not very impressive to say the least.

This entire matter - if it was a film : critics would chastise the storyline as so improbable that it was difficult to adequately suspend disbelief enough...

Simple-

Colts cry to the league, more than likely Kensil
Kensil has the NFL official that he knows steals balls work the game
McNally gets the unapproved ball from the NFL
Meanwhile Colts get their hands on the ball more than likely let some air out, run to Kensil that the ball doesn't feel right with these two things he has the "probable cause"
They measure the balls, only one is 2 PSI under, the rest are a few ticks
Colts go on to get blown out
Irsay in a drunken stupor phones up Kravitz and tells him about the under inflated balls
National media picks up on it
Because it is the Pats and they happen to be playing in the SB it becomes a burn the town witch hunt by the media.

I said this in the other thread. This smells that Grigson feels he is going to look bad in the Wells report and wants to get ahead of it and throwing it back on the league that he raised the issue and it was up to the league to warn the Pats.

Also, it would explain why their balls were within PSI range since they knew that the league might measure the balls during the game.

Can we trend #FireGoodell on Twitter again please? I've already started. This is out of hand. He compromises a title game for something every other team got a letter for, ignores tampering allegations against Jets/Cowboys, and ignores noise issue with Falcons. Those other things actually have an impact on the game (unlike stupid ball PSI.) HE HAS TO GO. #FireGoodell

And the NFL lied saying it wasn't a sting operation.

Enough is enough. Time to #FireGoodell
When you say the NFL, make sure to specify. They are not an organization, it is a collection of parts, that goes on tangents and other parts have no idea what the other is doing. This is the only way I can explain this.

This thing is tracking back to the Ravens. Bank on it. If the Colts had an issue with the Patriots ball handling, it would've come out in November. Not only that, it makes very little sense, as the purported means by which the Patriots are deflating balls (attendant deflating after officials have inspected) is impossible on a road game; and the purported reasoning for deflation (better handling in poor weather) does not apply to playing in Indy.

This came out b/c Harbaugh and Pagano had a chat. A chat precipitated by a lack of high school level science education.

Tom E Curran has been right about this for weeks now!

The Commissioner must be aware of these things. If he's not, it's even more reason for him to go. I can't recall a corporate leader keeping a job through this much incompetence and crap that became public. It's a disgrace. His mere presence soils the league at this point. He must go. Regardless of how many parts the league has.

So, the league sets up a sting operation to catch the Patriots, but yet they do not document the the PSI before the game or when they tested the footballs at halftime. Who was running the sting? This guy?

I can't remember. After it was revealed that Grigson was the source of the complaint against the Pats, did he deny it? I also can't remember who first reported it was Grigson.

Despite all of the conspiracy theories, I feel these are the facts (Item 1) and think what's going to happen to the Pats an us fans (Items 2 & 3).

1) Despite what anyone says (Goodell included), this was a sting. And this sting, hurts the integrity of the game MORE than if the Pats purposely deflated any footballs. You are allowing one team to get a supposed competitive edge by using deflated footballs (which the NFL knew about), in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
2) Regardless of K-Ball-gate, which will be swept under the rug (and basically is still being blamed on McNally by most), the NFL will consider the deflation of footballs the more serious matter, and will not link the 2 stories together, like K-ball-gate doesn't matter.
3) The Pats, despite what we all hope, and despite all of our anger about this issue, and despite what looks like vidication at this moment, will still get punished by the NFL. I would not be shocked with a $100,000 fine and a loss of a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I would be COMPLETELY shocked if the Colts get in trouble, I doubt there is any proof the Colts deflated the footballs (I hope there is though). I doubt the NFL referees will get in trouble for not logging the weights of the footballs prior to the game. I think it will all fall on us (Pats organization).

I pray that I am wrong, I pray something comes out proving someone else is at fault. But this whole thing has always been about GETTING the Patriots.

Here's an alternative scenario:

1) Harbaugh tips off the Pagano about underinflated footballs, either because he doesn't understand weather or they want to intentionally make a bad situation for the Patriots.

2) Grigson reports it to the NFL. The NFL says, "Not a big deal, but we'll keep an eye on it."

3) The craziness with the league employee happens, he's caught stealing a football, there's some confusion about the kicking balls, and an investigation begins into THAT situation.

4) Grigson, assuming this investigation is about the underinflated footballs, tells Bob Kravitz that the Patriots are being investigated.

5) The media hysteria ensues, which forces the NFL to actually look into that or they appear to be ignoring what the masses has made into a big deal.

Unfortunately for the NFL, they never intended to look into the inflation of the footballs because for 8 years no one has ever cared. So they have no pre-game data, no halftime data, and have to hire Ted Wells to come up with SOMETHING so they don't look like idiots. Too late.
