Inside the Patriots Weight Room

There are gym rats that have all the weight room measurables. There are also guys that do not shine in the wr yet when it's game time they are athletic jungle cats that will tear you apart. I would rather have the jungle cat on the field.
Agreed, and BB obviously feels the same way. While that board has some worthy names on it, all of them together as a team wouldn't win many games.

How recent is this picture? I feel like we've seen a shot of the weight room records before and this may be out of date by a year or two. Not hating on the OP, just curious...

Edit: Googled it and found the picture from 2013 atleast.

I'm thinking a couple of those records could've changed in the past year. Thinking that Jamie Collins could be up there now and maybe Hightower if he loses some body fat;)

The line positions have the biggest weight numbers overall, of course, but bigger in the squat than the bench press. The speed positions have bigger numbers in the bench press than in the squat. Ditto K/P. Not what I immediately would have guessed.

Speed guys typically do more reps of lighter weights, and other types of exercises, to form muscle fibers that create burst and flexibility. Line guys rely more on strength in their legs and core than in their arms and chest. So it isn't that surprising.

I would like to know if that chart has been updated and if so, what it looks like now.

Those single leg squat numbers for every personnel group are insane. Those are all good to damn good numbers for standard male humans in double leg squat.

Makes sense. But still doesn't explain he "low" numbers for the kickers/punters

Bethel Johnson too.....

Obviously Brady shouldn't be starting at QB

Vollmer's always been a beast on the bench. He put up over 30 reps at his Pro Day. I'm a little disappointed to see Wilfork never topped Ethan Kelley's numbers. Big Vince looks like an NFL version of E. Honda from the Street Fighter games. Marcus Cannon put up ridiculous numbers in the TCU weight room.

No Gronk up there? I would have thought he'd have shattered Ben watson's records.
What about Jamie Collins, he is an athletic beast!

Mike Wright :(

The receiver agility drills are interesting, in that a different guy seems to be the champ at each one. BB seems to have had a lot of quick receivers.

In the Patriots system, I suggest it's advantageous to have receivers who can get open quickly. Outside of Brady, it was one of the reasons the short to intermediate passing game was effective against Seattle's Cover 3.

Gronk is busy shattering less important records

As others have said, that photo is old.

Considering the recent change in weight-training philosophy (to reduce injury), I would be surprised if that board were still up, except for the OL/DL group.

Our punter can bench 335!

What's the recent change?
