2/18/2015: Schefter Blows Up ESPN's Earlier Story

Basically there is going to be a whole lot of humble pie being served the next time someone w
I can see how this destroys the already ludicrous OTL story, but I'm not sure how it ends the "deflategate" investigation or keeps it from continuing ad nauseum.

Great find by both you and Danger Zone. This is good news, but I'm still unclear about how good.

Well a Logical person would say, "Well one ref took the legal balls, a second ref put balls that were never tested into play, how can you even think about blaming the patriots for 1 ball being super low, when one of the refs stole the legal balls, and the second ref put untested balls into play.

The patriots had no control over any of this."

It's blowing up? I thought the problem was they weren't blown up? :)

Seriously... I wonder if Goodell knows he's lost his job, yet.

A half time show at the 2015 home opener with a public apology from Goodell to Mr Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the Patriots and their fans, leading up to the finale of the public firing of Kensil at mid field, all carried on live ESPN with Brunell and Bettis hosting and being mocked by 70,000 rabid Patriots fans would be in order.

I agree Ken. But it does put the NFL in a very negative light. Their lack of transparency, and their gall to leak stories undermining the Patriots integrity, insinuating Brady is cheating, insinuating our ball attendant was stabbing balls while taking a leak, when all the while one of their employees was selling balls on the side...that just does not look good at all.

I hope this gets the play nationally as it should, b/c it might swing public opinion a little bit in a way I was not anticipating.

Mediots and Pats haters right now

Who knows who has sources embedded with who, but it would not shock me at all if the fact this came out LITERALLY RIGHT AFTER the OTL laugher has something to do with 'we warned you to stop with the leaks'.

Mr. Godell you owe the Patriots an apology! An apology Mr. Godell!

It does raise some very interesting questions.

Who leaked the stuff to OTL? Was it the NFL just trying to take a swipe at the Pats, knowing the truth was inevitably going to come out, but that - by and large - people remember the first accusation, not the second?

Did the Patriots know the truth and had this in their back pocket, and did they out the NFL to Schefter?

Either way. What a mess for the NFL, but I am curious how this went down.

So, for those of you scoring at home:

Mort reports erroneously on 1/19.

Naqi committs ESPN on ESPN crime by inadvertently blowign Mort's contention about the footballs out of the water.

Within hours Schefter committs another ESPN on ESPN crime by sending Naqi packing back to Palookaville.

That cafeteria in Bristol must be pandemonium.

I just heard on WEEI an interview on OTL with former official Jim Diapolis blowing out of the water the interview Kelly Naqi did with another former official who said that there is no reason that McNally should be on the sidelines and him being there as a locker room attendant is very uncommon.

I think it is safe to say Kelly Naqi's career is just about over.

I know what a noogie is but I have no idea what a Naqi is but then again I must admit that I like it!!!

Schefter was also the one reporting some "league officials" believed that the Colts tampered with the footballs. So I would say it's clear that Schefter isn't being played by whoever fed the rest of ESPN, Mort, and Glazer the info they got.

So, is "Deflategate" now complete moot? How can you investigate the Patriots for underinflating footballs if the footballs were switched out by a League Official in the midst of the game? And is selling footballs on the side not a drastically higher integrity issue than footballs being slightly low on PSI would be?
