How do you get through the offseason?

I watch my grandson play in the winter traveling team soccer league for Roxbury NJ, then there is the spring season. I read everything there is to read about the Pats. I watch NHL hockey thru the playoffs. I also go fishing in the ocean. And hopefully continue to take care of my sick collie.

hockey and baseball.

I binge watch TV shows.
I try and find discounted out of season Patriots gear online.
I download PFW in Progess podcast (2hrs every Tue and Thurs).
Reacquaint with my wife and 2 little kids.
Most importantly...I reconnect with the Patsfans community.

For me i play in a mens hockey league every week...just something to look forward too for the next months

This time of year the bucks and bulls are dropping their antlers, so I always go and try to pick up as many as I can. Then it's time to get religious about shooting the bow preparing for huntin season. Also spend a lot of time scouting, camping, and getting "mountain" fit for the upcoming season. That ends around September, and then it's time to watch pats football. The cycle continues every year.

Also spend as much time as possible on the ranch

welp...my mom is dying in South County hospital. I'm going into Miriam this morning for the fourth thoracentesis in 45 days due to pleural effusion. Following this fourth procedure, I'm scheduled to undergo a pleurodesis. I cannot walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath right now. The pulmonologist expects a full recovery after the pleurodesis. In effect, I've been living with a semi-collapsed right lung since July.

I am executor of mom's estate and responsible for funeral arrangements. I COULD be in Miriam Hospital when all this comes down.Oh yeah...almost forgot...Friday is my birthday.

IF I manage to get through the offseason, I plan on making every game in Foxboro next season. This past season has been the one bright light in a long, dark tunnel of life problems. Mom would call me every Sunday when the game was on to tell me she was watching her Brady. I'm going to miss that the most.

If I might be serious for a moment, Mr. Kerr, happy early birthday and may your next one be free of so much stuff. I got nothing in terms of "free medical advice," but I trust the rest of the internet to take up the slack on that. I hope there's someone else in the family that can help on the executor count, but that might/might not be what you want. Best wishes for the full recovery your pulmonologist expects, and for managing your grieving & the responsibility that will come with it. Please PM if you want.

Oh and my response to the topic of the thread, in terms of "off time"?

Well, first comes Mrs. P - then her mom, the kids/grandkids when we all make the time to talk (we live in different places). And of course, I come here and read what much smarter people are saying about cap issues and upcoming signings (or not signings)... when the combine comes I might focus in on who's a workout warrior this year, but I find myself getting all wrapped around "binkies" that way. But I'll get all wrapped up in the draft come April, and enjoy "meeting" the new rookies... that's exciting. On occasion I'll go on a writing bender... so I might sink into one of those between now and next season.

Joe, my best wishes for you, and my condolences regarding your situation. Whatever words I might have otherwise fail me at the moment.

I'll just say this much: May you have many returns of your birthday, may your surgery come off well and you have a full and speedy recovery. If there is anything that I can do for you, please don't hesitate to PM me. If I can do it, it'll be on the way soonest.

PS: When you can, post something to let us know how things are going. You're important to this community.

Respects,

Sorry for your troubles, Joe. I lost my Mom (94) last March 15. She always joked that she would make sure she went on St. Patrick's Day and she almost made it. Thoughts are with you. Happy Birthday! For some reason I always just assumed it was April 1...

I'm sorry you are going through such a difficult time. My father passed away back in 2013 that was really tough and we weren't even all that close so I cannot imagine being in your situation with your mother. Keep your head up every lifetime has its rainy seasons.

Thinking of you and your mom today, Joe.

Peace for your mom and healing for you.

Get re-acquainted with the people walking around me in my house. Your names again, one more time?

The only reason I rated that post 'disagree' was to give you a perfect panel of every possible rating.

Lo, and with TFB now in possession of ring #4, the universe finds itself in perfect order!

Besides football, soccer is another sport I'm passionate about. Gonna follow the Patriots offseason and watch the Champions League, Copa America, and the CONCACAF Gold Cup lots of soccer to feast on

My thoughts go out to you. Lost my mom in December. Hang in there.
