Larry Fitzgerald restructures with Cardinals

@jeffphowe: Cardinals GM Steve Keim confirms they've reached a new deal with Larry Fitzgerald that is essentially a two-year deal. Took a week.

Well, at least we'll see about a 50% drop in off-season threads now.

He could have been one of the greats if he got himself out of AZ. I'm not sure he makes the HOF.

Too bad but not surprising. Would have liked to have seen him catching passes from Brady.

Now Revis will get to shut him down next February en route to the Patriots' 5th SB.

They got there a few years ago with a worse defense and a 62 year old Kurt Warner at QB. Not saying it's likely, but I'm not ruling anything out in this league.

This offseason might be the winner in the 'earliest that the Fitzgerald-to-Patriots rumors died' sweepstakes.

Good for him. He gets to stay with the only team he has played for and since they are a team on the rise he probably thinks he has a shot at a SB there. We all know they still need a QB and we all would have loved him here even though we have no clue where he would wind up if he was free but for the player this seems like the best option. Don't move your family and continue to try and make the Cardinals a winner. Props for not shooting your way to a contender and trying to build it there.

Bad for the Cardinals. Helps them a little with a nasty cap situation, but $22 million guaranteed over the next two years for an aging player who is not that productive in their current offense really ties their hands. This means they have some hard decisions to make elsewhere on the roster.

This is a bad decision made for good reasons (sentimentality to a loved player).

he has really only had like one good year since Kurt Warner retired and Fitzgerald was only 26 at the time so that alone may keep him out of the HOF.

WR is a hard position to get into the HOF anyway Tim Brown 10 years before he got in. Marvin Harrison should have been a first ballot hall of famers and was not

Meh, he just restructured so they could trade him to the Patriots.

They beat the 6, 5, and 2 seeds to make it the SB. The NFC at that time was weak, and the NFL's best record was held by the Titans with 36 yr old Kerry Collins as QB...

to be fair, the Cardinals looked pretty good with carson palmer at QB. seahawks probably never sniff the #1 seed if he stays healthy.

He's in the area of HOF guys stats wise, and that's with a dumpster fire at QB. With a SB, and a QB who doesn't suck I think he had a shot. But not anymore.

The Cardinals have nobody to blame for getting into that contract but themselves, and honestly I'd be really disappointed if the details come out and show that Fitzgerald gave them a Get Out of Jail Free card. Credit to them for making him want to stick around, though.

Nah. He'll walk off the field before a game ends, punch a cop, gets cut, clear waivers and then sign with the pats.
