Goody's lovely wife reports he has his top cop on top of the investigation.

I just made this meme myself...

Wow, media is really holding Goodell's feet to the fire making sure he enforces these textbook rule violations.

Wow, media is really holding Goodell's feet to the fire making sure he enforces these textbook rule violations.

In sports as in politics the media picks sides as to whose feet they can always be relied on to hold to the fire and those they invariably find a (lame) reason to give a pass.

What we see here is the typical media tactic of simply pretending there's "no story" here.

What we saw several weeks ago was a media lynch mob based solely on the fact that a not-liked entity was in the crosshairs, regardless of verifiable evidence. It "fit the narrative". Nobody wanted to hear a HS science explanation. La-La-La I can't hear you!

We should be used to this behavior from the media. It's on the front pages every day.

I'm personally offended by the Jets actions and as Goodell once said if one person if offended that we need to take this seriously.

Supposedly there are several investigations at the moment:

1) deflategate

2) noisegate

3) textgate

4) tampergate (both Dallas and the Jets)

I hate the gate.

Truthfully, I kinda hope the Omissioner pisses off both Kraft and Jerrah. That's a sure path to walking papers...

Goodell has shown that unlike most successful CEOs he's incapable of forging "the deal". Kraft forged the big television deal. Kraft had to step in and broker the CBA. His ruling against the Saints was overturned on appeal. Volumes have been said regarding his inept PR handling of the Rice situation. Previously we'd speculated that absent these CEO capabilities perhaps Goodell's talents lay as a good administrator of the league front office. With the incessant leaks and Kensil running wild we know that to be false.

Goodell is The Emperor Without Clothes. I cannot believe that owners looking at this can't come to the obvious and overwhelming conclusion that he adds little to no value.

The next commissioner does not have to be a jack of all trades. If a true deal making marketing oriented CEO with at least some administrative ability can't be found, owners need to decide what specific talents the next CEO MUST have and what missing capabilities might be filled by owner(s), and perhaps an operational executive to handle the day to day behind the scenes. I've oversimplified but it's a simple problem in organizational design. Perhaps conflicting interests and agendas of the herd of cats owners prevent it from being addressed effectively. I know that I could fix it, given the go.

Meanwhile teams changes their tampering tactics and just had reporters do their bidding for them. Bills and Jets reported to have interest in Revis.

The only thing that it can be is that he knows where the bodies are buried.

But anyone could know that if they just asked Joker.

I just read all 3 pages and yet no answer for tampergate.

We need to get the media more involved and asking for updates from the NFL. Same with Deflategate.

I will write my Senator and Congressman that should move things along, they have plenty of time cause they aren't doing anything for the American public.

This should be required reading not only for every Pats fan, but for every business school class in the nation. Usually we complain about CEO's who make more for doing less. I only wish this was the case. This corrupt and inept pus package as made something like $7o or 80MM dollars the last 2 year. 2 years where his ineptness has significantly damaged the league he purports to run.

Now it's pretty clear he's lost complete administrative control of his own office. Either that or he is complicit in the embarrassing series of leaks coming from his own offices. By ANY measurement of business productivity the man is a freakin' DISASTER. If a CEO of a similarly sized multi billion dollar corporation was damaging his company as badly, there would be SEC investigations and the Justice Department would be looking to get involved. In just 2 short years (where he made an obscene amount of money) this man is likely to make Mark Cuban's remark about the NFL's decline go from wacky to prescient

Therein lies the problem, the owners/teams just keep making more and more money, and this past Superbowl was the most watched program of all time... as long as that trend continues, no amount of controversy/ineptitude on Goodell's part will be enough to overtake that. It's ALL about the money, not integrity, not good sportsmanship, not anything like that.. just money, and since Goodell has taken over the NFL continues to get bigger, and bigger, and bigger, and bigger...

I don't disagree, but can you pinpoint exactly what actions Roger Goodell has done that show where HE was responsible for getting anything done that led to all that money coming in. Or was he just the lucky guy who as in the right place at the right time.

Think about it. EVERY negative thing that has affected the league over the last 8 years can be dropped at his feet. From "cameraplacementgete" to the lock out, to the Saints scandal, to the Rice debacle, to deflategate, to everything in between. I can't think of a single thing he's handled both professionally and well. Kraft brokered the TV deal. Kraft saved his sorry ass coming to his rescue and brokering the new CBA. And I could go on about his handling of LA, the rules committee, etc Just saying, "well we made a lot of money while he was in charge", isn't enough. If a monkey had been in charge, the NFL would have done as well....or better.

BTW- I just thought of something Roger does well. He give a mean hug on draft day.

Exactly, Ken. Right place at the right time.
I worked in corporate America, the High Tech branch.
We referred to the Goodells at the VP and CEO levels as "The Man in the Empty Suit"
Sadly, corporate America is not that efficient at flushing out these fortuitous souls either.

Tampongate - media & jealous ex nfl players

Even Rex isn't stupid enough to blatantly tamper:

Ryan coached cornerback Darrelle Revis, who could become a free agent if the Patriots decline his $20 million 2015 option, for four years with the New York Jets. Ryan knows better than to comment on Revis until he officially hits the open market. “I knew that was coming from somebody,” Ryan said about the question on Revis. “My first year I would have done this, I would have swung at that pitch and probably been fined for tampering or something like that. This time, no way am I going to talk about somebody else’s player. So I refuse to do that.”
