Schefter: Has Heard Speculation Colts might have deflated the footballs

After the firestorm the league let the Patriots dangle over during the superbowl, anything short of the apology means the League brass Let the patriots cheat in the superbowl

How did they let them cheat in the SB? Because the balls were under-inflated in the first half of the AFCCG, you mean?

I've been saying that all along. I will be gobsmacked if the result of the "investigation" is anything other than a facially neutral statement that the NFL has no evidence and/or the investigation was inconclusive, but intentionally worded to practically force people to read between the lines "...and there's no evidence because NE covered it up too well". And they'll throw in a $25K or $50K fine as well. Or maybe even as much as $25K for each ball that was measured below 12.5PSI at halftime, no matter how little below.

If that's what Ken is saying that I fully agree with him--and you.

I've never once expected an all out apology from the NFL for their incompetence.

Yeah that's what a level headed person knows. But everyone that hates the patriots is not level headed. Everyone still thinks the patriots film opponents practices everyweek

I'm not saying the patriots cheated, I'm saying that the idiots think they did

I gotcha. I just needed clarification for what you were exactly trying to say, that's all. Thanks.

The other outcome of course, and this is the best possible scenerio is that the league punishes the colts, while at the same time apologizing to the patriots.

Everyone KNOWS this will never happen....

Here is another aspect of this case that hasn't been mentioned; it first came into the NFL-watching consciousness during Tripgate.

Of course the league never punishes the Rats, but could this be a potential issue the Colts need to be concerned about?

http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5928044

'The league is checking into whether Westhoff violated a league rule by publicly calling out the Patriots. A 2008 league memo from commissioner Roger Goodell, printed in the San Francisco Chronicle and brought to light Thursday by ESPNBoston.com, warned every team that making false claims against other clubs could result in penalties.

The memo read: "Any club or individual reporting a violation is expected to do so in good faith, to have a reasonable basis for believing a violation occurred, and to produce (or to identify) evidence to substantiate the claim. In the event I determine that a claim is made in bad faith, is frivolous or that the club or person making the complaint is unable to produce evidence to support the charge, I will impose appropriate sanctions."'

Wow, this DeflateGate nonsense really died fast, huh?

Fantastic. It lowers the burden of "proof" of wrongdoing against the Colts significantly.

Also, it provides a bit more "motive" as to why they would lower the PSI of the ball they had in possession a few ticks as well.

Oh my god, I did!!! WTF
Maybe Kensil, Grigson, and John Harbaugh were lurking here, seething over how content we were with our Super Bowl season, and they decided to call up the clowns in Bristol and open the faucet.

Oh well. Guess someone decided enough time passed since the Super Bowl to leak this ****.

Why is it that the Pats are the only ones under a gag order?

...and also it comes very naturally for the Pats to be taciturn. Something to do with their head coach's personality, I think. Right now the Pats hold the cards in that physics & common sense are on their side and they know that not only does the league of fools have nothing on them but that any electronic, etc. evidence that they uncovered points to someone else, someone "protected" putting the front orifice (sic) in a conundrum.

Nice of Mike Kemsil to out himself as the source of the leaks. It's not like we didn't already have him at the top of the list but this report confirms it.

Now the Kraft's have to demand his head on a platter.

The league office is run by former Jets. Is it really any wonder why the office is the epitome of incompetence? Can't make this **** up....

Who the F is Mike Kemsil????

I'm too lazy to Google him.....
