2/17 Rumor: Pats' locker room attendant tried to put unapproved kicking ball in AFCCG

Cue idiots on tv lining up how kicking balls are advantageous to the QB. What is this story ? Coudl it not be possible he picked the wrong football and the officials sorted it out. WTF is going on here ?
Lmfaooo seriously. Can this Wells moron just finish his witchhunt already

I would not be surprised if Kraft is quite pissed. Supposedly they were trying to keep the ball attendants name out of press, and he's already stated the leaks were unacceptable. Now they have some guys picture, his name, and reporters at his house over a ludicrous rumor.

From the ESPN article: "Wells said he expected his investigation to go on for 'at least several more weeks' and asked that 'everyone involved or potentially involved in this matter avoids public comment concerning the matter until the investigation is concluded. The results will be shared publicly.'"

Right. Patriots, you keep quiet while the NFL office continues to leak incriminating sounding half-truths about you to the press.

So let me get this straight. This report alleges that the Pats were caught trying to switch a kicking ball, the only balls that are 100% under ref control at all times, with an UNmarked ball by handing it directly to the ref? Like, not even trying to sneak it into the bag but handing it right to the ref. Without exaggeration that seems just about the most stupid way to try and circumvent anything ever. And rather than recognizing it as being an accident the immediate assuming is cheating? What would it even accomplish if this 'diabolic' plan even worked anyway? And unlike the game balls, don't both teams share the same kicking balls?

And of course the ref noticed so the ball was never even circulated.

So lol what the hell. It's going to be funny when it turns out to have been an innocent mistake because the ref forgot a ball in the lockerroom and told this guy to go grab one.

Go figure.
Obviously they take tampering seriously, nobody can mess with balls except officials- and Kinsey. He gets to stick needles in the balls and it's not tampering. Old man takes a piss and it's tampering. Makes perfect sense.

They said he made that statement last month.

Another leak says that Kensil personally tested the balls at halftime and found them all 1-2 PSI under minimum pressure.

That's the real news. Why was a league executive tampering with footballs during an AFC Championship game? The rulebook is very clear: the referee has the sole authority over the footballs used in an NFL game. There's no provision that allows a league exec to tamper with the footballs during a game.

I find it almost humorous how pathetic it is for an sniveling NFL exec to be personally checking the PSI, hoping to nail the big bad Patriots during their 45-7 slaughter of the Colts.

Brady told him to do it. Obviously.

Brady should be tarred and feathered as punishment.

The Indy interception took place with 9:11 left in the second quarter. So Kensil must have feverishly sprinted down from the press box in time to tamper with the footballs at half time. Maybe he'll blame it on Adderall. Whatever... he sure must have been lathered up.

They were using that ball to get Irsay his drugs. By the way, ESPN has a comment section that leas to another page without comments.

I even switched to my fake facebook account to make the above comment, but there isn't any comment section.

Where's the outrage at the NFL for all the leaking? Goodell either can't control his organization or he's condoning the leaks. If I were Kraft, I'd be screaming bloody murder. Loudly and publicly.

All these reports are piss in the wind. There isn't a reputable reporter among them. They are all columnists who pretend to be news reports. Let them write their editorials. They all look like DBags eventually anyway!

Of course, the pats didnt want to hit a touchback or maybe wanted to so they tried to sneak in a ball which will go further at kickoff.. WTF..Iam getting incensed at this crap

Among many other reasons, the article is confusing because it says "unapproved special teams football," which seems to be a contradiction. A football only becomes a "special teams football" when it is approved for such use, aka a "K ball." An "unapproved special teams football" is complete nonsense. Was it an "unapproved special teams football" because McNally told the official that it was a K ball, but it was not approved as such? If so, what is the advantage to the Patriots of having such an unapproved ball "introduced" into the game? Do we now have to have press conferences for Ryan Allen and Gost and have everyone weigh in how an under or over inflated ball might help or hurt kickers and punters?

I thought this was about Brady having an advantage because of balls that were deflated in a clandestine men's room operation? Now you are telling me that it is about Gost and Ryan Allen getting an old fat guy to act like a ball boy and start handing random footballs to the officials? Can't wait for what the next leak will be. With each one of these, I think Goodell's firing moves closer and closer to the top of Kraft's agenda.

well then the joke is on ESPN cause its harder to hold on to and throw a K ball and the refs would see the dame K on the ball
I also misread it. They are saying they were trying to use non K balls for kicking. So Ghost is tampering with the balls now??

I suppose in retrospect this was entirely predictable -- BB and Letterman (deservedly) mocked the whole thing last week, so now Goodell and and the NFL front office had to get even. Fits the ongoing pattern.

Nice touch by ESPN to include Brady in the photo of the attendant, clearly trying to link the two and leave the impression that the guy is a stooge for Brady. Almost made it look like TB is giving him a high five in the picture. I no longer have any doubt that ESPN is fully committed in their efforts to tarnish the legacy of the Patriots and their players.
