IF Wes Welker retires from NFL, will he sign 1-day deal with Patriots?

There are some impressively spiteful people in this thread. The Pats are on an unprecedented tear right now, and Wes was a major player in that. Sure he didn't win a Super Bowl while he was here, but the Pats won 75% of their games in his tenure. He was a key contributor in all of the best offenses we've ever had.

He had a couple of drops but he also caught 83% of his passes in one of those playoff runs, and had 250+ yard in 2 games in the other one. Sure he had a couple of bad moments, but he was far from the only reason why we lost in those games and the Ravens one is especially spiteful because we weren't winning that game with or without that catch. He was a major reason why we were even there in the first place.

Naw, give it to Putin. :)

He straight-up gangsta'd that thang. This is why we needed to be engaged in that Ukraine thing. Unfortunately, the French and Germans and the Ukrainians and the Russians did it without us. We could probably have gotten another port city for what's left of Ukraine out of that ring.

I don't begrudge Welker or Vinatieri or any of a number of other players for making decisions that they thought were in the best interests of themselves and their families.

But, the only one of the lot that I would like to see retire as a Patriot is #4. He left in part to pad his stats in a Dome, I know, I know...we don't have to rehash that here again. But what he did in the Snow Bowl and in SB's XXXVI and XXXVIII go way beyond giving the team a few great years, which is essentially what Welker did.

Yeah, stats are for losers. Nobody who played for NE before 2001 or between 2004 and 2014 should get to retire a Patriot. I mean, except the ones who were rostered last year.
Obviously you failed to comprehend the meaning of my post, allow me to simplifying it for you. I responded to a person who was celebrating WW's statistical achievements and I stated in response that statistical achievement in the tregular season are not the criteria for someone to be retired as a Patriot using the words of BB. This was not meant to be illogically construed to mean that great Patriots from 1960 on are not be considered to be retired as a Patriots when they actually retired as Patriots. I have followed the Pats from 1960 on and have seen the great Patriots who played for bad teams and WW is not a great Patriot even while playing for a good team. Hopefully now you can comprehend what I am posting.

Yes, you have removed the scales from my eyes

Thank you for taking the time to simplifying it for me.

If you put Drew Bledsoe in the Pats HOF, you put Wes Welker in. And perhaps both are deserving but to me this franchise has become about Championships, and honoring the ones that brought Championships should come before the ones who played well on teams that didn't get rings.
As far as Welker retiring as a Patriot, that is ridiculous IMO. He could have done so, but chose not to and I see no reason to ceremonially bring him back.

Everyone running to Welker's defense should remember that he helped Peyton break Tom's TD record.

Yeah, because he was getting paid millions of dollars as Bronco to do that. What is he supposed to do? Refuse to play? LOL.

************ this board sucks sometimes. A real patriots fan would welcome Wes back with open arms. He meant so much to this team. I for one hope he retires a Patriot.

If he didn't drop a SB clinching catch, I'd agree that he meant a lot to the franchise, but too many players meant a lot more by contributing to Championships.

Oh and the point you were responding to was certainly stupid.

He left a contract of comparable value to go to Denver to be a spiteful little *****.

Apparently the "real Patriot fans" missed that.

I changed my mind. I would sign him to a 1 day deal just so Browner can do this to him again in practice.

Really, Mr. "Mark Brunnel holding two balls and squeezing them was really compelling evidence that convinced me the Pats were cheaters"?

Too bad I wasn't on TV. It would make perfect sense to you if I were.

I view Bledsoe as a much different HOF case than Welker. There are much different expectations put on a franchise QB versus a WR.

When you have to make something up that I didn't say and attribute it to me to try to hide from your stupid comment, you should turn off the computer.

Your comment would have been stupid in person, in writing, on TV, radi, CB, short-wave, or through tin cans tied together by string.

Both put up numbers and were fun to watch, thats why they are comparable to me. Technically Bledose sort of contributed to a championship by only playing horrible and not worse in the 2001 AFCCG.
I'm not sure what you mean by expectations and how that would make a difference.

So my duty is to cheer on Welker going to Denver for comparable money to help Peyton Manning break Tom's TD record?

I said that? Please show me where.
I said that it was stupid to say that someones opinion of Welker should be affected by Manning breaking a stupid record with him on the team, as if Welker should care about that.

Why shouldn't it? The Patriots offered him a competitive contract, per the Krafts. Welker left for spite. You want to defend him and attack posters who don't like him.

Funny, you were defending Jerry Rice for calling the Patriots cheaters too, and defending Mark Brunnel's idiocy with the two footballs, and ESPN's hatchet job against the Patriots during deflate gate.

Why don't you go give Felger a ****ing back rub or something?

AndyJohnson said:
Carter and Brunnell said they could tell the difference in a 2 psi deflated ball. I'm sure I could too. With no horse in the race why would I doubt them.

You seem to think that Jerry Rice should feel Mark Brunell and Cris Carter who played about 30 years in the league combined are morons who know nothing, and of course even though it being reported that the balls were 2 psi under its all made up.

Willie M, Ty Law and WWW all left the Pats for other teams.
The Pats HOF difference being that Ty and Willie made several BIG clutch plays that delivered championships. Wes had his drop(s).

Given that we're in an unprecedented Championship era and it's hopefully not over yet, Pats HOF slots should be for those whose great play and key contributions in clutch situations delivered hard to acquire Championships, not guys who ran up the stats.

+ then ran to the enemy.

Ty ran to the even more hated Jets

Ego te absolvo, Ty.
