Gresh out in Sports Hub shakeup

Seriously.

Might as well just hire two random idiots from the old Jets Insider forum and let them bash the hell out of us all football season. Would basically be the same exact show.

They've been a little more pro-Patriots since the Pats won the Superbowl, but that, I'm sure, is only because they know nobody wanted to hear their crap while celebrating a 4th Lombardi. If the Pats lost, they would be in their glory right now about how Tom has to go, Belichick has lost it, and tarnished legacies.

I posted in the Super bowl thread I think, but after the game I was jumping between channels for post game coverage and on Comcast sports, Felger had the most disappointing look on his face. not even exaggerating, he looked like he saw a ghost and had zero excitement..

he wanted the Patriots to lose so he could **** all over them for another year and continue to push his agenda of firing BB and trading Tom Brady.

Id call Felger a piece of garbage, but that would be insulting to garbage.

is tangway out at csne? please tell me its true? hate to see gresh go. the only time i listen to 98.5 is from ten to two. its weei after 2 if im going to listen at all. i cant listen to felger and spaz.

One down, so many more to go, The CHG, Bogus, the pink pachyderm, felger, spazz etc. All i want is someone who is objective even if they have something critical to say as long as its based on fact no agenda or ratings.

If sports talk is so bad (which it is for a host of reasons covered in this thread) then why the heck are you people listening? Put on some music or watch Patriots highlights.

I don't listen to it (at least not very often) because it is what it is. My problem is, i'd like to.
Most people get homer radio. Not us. Our airwaves just dump on us.

NY Jets guys are better towards their team when they're winning. I don't think any media market craps on its own teams like the Boston one. Hate it.

Be prepared for Felger's next jihad: Brady is a PED guy. He's hinted at it in the past and in the past few days he's slyly ramped it up. Here we go...
In all fairness to him, he thinks every football and baseball players are on something.

Sad to see Gresh go. As stated before, he and Zolak were the best football show on local sports radio. Most of the time the did it without an agenda and even slanted towards the Pats (not a surprise for Zolak, but for Gresh it was cux he's a pittsburgh fan).
So now we have Bertrand (does he qualify as Felger youth?) and Zolak. Zolak is useless for the other sports and Bertrand tiptoes the "Felger" line a bit too much for me. But to his credit, he has challenged the db aka Felger in the past.
Interesting item, I had Adam Jones & Keefe on last night as I did dishes, and they claimed that they're going to be "the most informative nfl draft show in the boston market", which certainly isn't hard to do. They were going to have mike loyko of nepatriotsdraft.com or something or other as a guest, but i didn't hear it. It'd be nice to hear some draft talk and not have it be made fun of. Felger & Massarotti are the worst with their throwing darts, etc.....

Sports radio is mirroring the general demise of other types of mainstream media. I mean, here we are expressing ourselves not on endless telephone hold for EEI or the Sports Hub, but rather on that "series of tubes" known as the Internets (thanks, Al Gore!). I used to listen to Squeaky and the DBag (aka Felger and Mazz) from 2 to 6 on the Sports Hub (mostly during football season) because they were oftentimes challenging to my world view on the Pats. I liked the challenge. Although for the life of me, you have to be the main female character in Fifty Shades of Grey to call that show (Felger is too easily annoyed at both callers and the quality of the phone signal from whence they call). Listening to Felger and Mazz changed for me after Fellategate broke on the heels of a magnificent AFC Championship game, when they took the bait far too easily from BSPN, PFT and that ilk of sensationalized media. Very disappointing. Note to Felger: there's more to disagreeing than simply being disagreeable. So I turned to Michael Holley, who never disappoints. Arnold and Holley had such a better analytical approach to Fellategate, and its aftermath, than Felger and Mazz. And throw in Thornton for a good laugh, and that is what I now listen to in the afternoons when the radio is on.

Gresh and Zo were always a good listen from 10 to 2. But it appears that local CBS radio office politics got the better of Andy. Either that, or Zo is the co-host black widow spider (first Tanguay, then Gresh, now Bertrand. Good luck with that, Marc). Bottom line is that we have a lot of good local sports radio talent. I am sorry to see Gresh depart and wish him well. He handled the last month (knowing he was out after the Super Bowl) with aplomb!

But we shall persevere. Just don't listen to that trio of Brown Shirts in the morning slot at EEI. My Gawd, Attila the Hun is to the left of that bunch. I listen to sports radio for SPORTS, not fascist political ideology, with a point or two about our local sports teams mixed in from time to time. At least Toucher and Rich make me laugh in the morning (which is when you need to laugh, especially after a late night). I'm basically off sports talk radio until the dawn of the new NFL season. In the meantime, I'll get my sports news from over here on the Internets (thanks again, Al Gore!).

FWIW, I had no problem with the first 2 paragraphs; it was for the 3rd paragraph that I gave a Dislike,
for the obvious reasons.

I've been listening more and more to 1030 WBZ AM with traffic on the 3's .... o_Oo_Oo_O

Or, if you have a smartphone, use Stitcher (Android) or iTunes (Apple) to load up on NFL podcasts. You'll never miss Boston sports radio. My phone just broke today so I put on Mike Adams and he was playing verbal grab-ass with some female co-host and talking about Yaz and Bobby Orr, sigh.

Difficult to watch highlights while driving a car...the authorities frown upon it.. Music has become my favored genre recently.

Since the asinine firing of Ordway, Gresh has been the best football show on the air. Firing Gresh would be really, really stupid.

Luckily for us, Ordway is online (screw you WEEI): http://sportstalkboston.com/
I'll pass, thanks. Laziest fat bastard on the radio. Everyone's rushed to hire him since hiss fat ass got correctly canned. Sorry for the vitriol, but I've met him twice and he's a major jerk off.

I don't know what he is like in person, but the Big Show was the best sports radio I ever heard. The Whiner Line and the guests made for a great evening drive home especially on Patriots Monday. A few weeks ago the morning guys on WEEI even admitted that firing Ordway was a colossal blunder.

Holley is really the only one of these guys that I can stand. I won't listen to the midday show as long as they have that little weasel Benz on it.

Firing Ordway was the best decision EEI made in years. Decades, even.

Benz was a mistake. I think they see it but theyre trying to get over it. He is very awkward at times.

Agree completely. Gresh knows his football. I also found him and Zo to be a very entertaining pair.
Zo must be so pissed. Losing his brother and being forced to work with Felger's lawn boy. Oh joy....
While I don't think Gresh is that amazing, I find this to be a head scratcher. I thought Gresh and Zo made a good pair, were more Pats' homers (which I like) and were much easier to listen to than F&M. I don't know much about the politics of the station. Does Felger really have that much sway?

Meanwhile, Kirwin and Miller on Sirius NFL radio have turned to free agency with a lot of adult conversation about how various NFL teams will be evaluating rosters and cap space. Who to cut, who to keep. Strategies for filling needs o the roster. They had a good interview yesterday with ex-GM Jerry Angelo.

Kirwin and Angelo agreed that the lack of pro-style QBs coming out of college now is a serious problem. Both would consider going the read-option route with three interchangeable runners at QB (like a committee of running backs) that can be plugged in as soon as the first one gets hurt. The running QB presents serious challenges to defenses, but they have to viewed as disposable resources (like NFL running backs).

In some ways, pro free agency is probably Sirius NFL radio's best time of the year.

It was one of the worst decision in the history of Sports talk radio. The ratings on WEEI tanked after he was gone and heads rolled.

Ordway's Big Show was best I have ever heard for pure entertainment value.
