He will try to "answer the bell" in 2015

Can we at least wait until he plays before disparaging the guy?

That's not how things work here, son. Don't you realize you need to disparage the opponent to feel better about yourself? Oh, you didn't? Sorry, my bad, i didn't expect to read a reasonable post in this thread.

Manning is coming back for 2015.

Who would've thought?

Shocking news! :)
I don't blame PM for wanting another mega million payday. I don't blame PM for wanting to place his name at the top of an impressive QB stat. I don't blame PM for wanting one more shot at a SB.
With that said, if he doesn't take a noticeable paycut from last year in order for the Broncos to sign greater production then I question his commitment to desperately wanting that last chance at a SB. At this stage of his career and with the whopping $$$ he has made, placing an emphasis on getting as good a supporting cast around him as possible should be a priority for someone most interested in a SB. He can make that happen by taking less.

One thing is for sure, this makes the likelihood of a Denver playoff appearance very solid. Anything beyond a simple appearance will be significantly due to his supporting cast.

And if he chews up 20 mil on the cap....i'm liking it.

Listen, man...I agree with the person you have just quoted but what led you to think that people here give **** to PM because they want to feel better with themselves? Our team just won a freaking SB, is there a better feeling than that?

Is the idea of just not liking the guy and his antics too difficult to perceive? I mean, I don't agree with most of the comments here but I'm able to understand where it comes from.

Manning is often touted as being the most cerebral and intelligent QB that's ever played the sport.

He doesn't look it with this decision.

He and the Broncos front office should have evaluated the last few months of the season, if they had (which they simply cannot have done), then he'd be riding off into the sunset.

He is not worth the money they're paying him based on what we saw from late October/November onwards.

I have always liked and respected Peyton but this year we will see how much does he really want to win will he take the big pay cut to keep guys and add new players if not they will be a one and done team again

This is goingto be really interesting because Manning has always been allowed to run the offense the way he wants to run it, this coming season he is going to have to run Kubiak's offense, which is run centered. It will be very interesting to see. How he handles running Ann offense where he can't throw at will.

So Payton is back for the broncos and claiming to be able to play at an elite level. IMO there's huge questions on this guy after yet another post season collapse.

The article says he's ready to play physically and emotionally. No where does it say he passed his physical or that the Bronocos are willing to pay him his $19m salary

As far as his performance at the end of last year, he was hurt so I don't expect to see a repeat of that. And its not his fault the Broncos were willing to give him a contract that hit them with a huge salary cap hit. Maybe they can tear up his deal and give him $19m in bonus over a three year deal and spread out the hit.

I've never been enamored with piling on Peyton. He's a great QB. Teams would kill to have him. Good thing we have Brady.

I've enjoyed every moment of the piling on of P61D. He deserves it.

You didn't expect a reasonable post? So why come here?

I think Pats fans are feeling pretty good right now, no matter what P61D decides to do. We're just glad that he isn't on our team.

Manning needs 8 more wins to pass Farve for the all time reg season win total. THatis his other prize beyond the passing yds record.

Denver will be 11-5 at best, and more likely 10-6. One and done in the playoffs.

You might be right, but I have San Diego and Kansas City leapfrogging Denver in 2015, and Denver out of the playoffs. The Chiefs are only a few players away from being your typical Andy Reid team that is very tough in all three phases. We've seen up close and personal what that team can do when they play their best. The Chargers are a playoff team with few needs. If they add a couple of quality players on defense, they're better than the Broncos.

If he picks up where he left off, Manning, at 39, might be the worst quarterback in his division. The Broncos don't have a running game to speak of, three starting offensive linemen (including Julius Thomas at TE) are free agents, and they have a new head coach coming in who doesn't exactly inspire confidence with a sub-.500 career record and mediocre 2-2 playoff record.

Gary Kubiak will be looking over his shoulder with every decision he makes. Elway's running the show and his former backup will be in a weak on-field role. Wade Phillips as DC is the definition of a re-tread. OC Rick Dennison comes in as Peyton Manning's errand boy after being Joe Flacco's QB coach and OC for Matt Schaub's Texans. Do these guys really look like the answer?

Prediction: 8-8, 3rd in AFC West, miss playoffs, Manning retires. End of season press conference begins with: "Thank you for coming. I'm John Elway, and I'd like to blame... John Elway."

I'd like to see him walk away while he can. If this guy takes ONE or two hard hits where his head bounces off the turf...or where he gets the whiplash effect...he could end up in a wheelchair. Very shaky/unstable cervical (neck) and spinal situation....due to how many surgeries on the neck. Stupid decision

I don't know how he can know at this point that he can play at a "significant level". Just by throwing with a trainer?

If I am the Broncos and Elway, I am thinking seriously about flunking Manning with his physical to get out from under his contract. It may tank 2015, but save the future of the franchise. They have a lot of free agents this year and next that they need to keep and it will be tough with Manning's salary. Keeping guys like Pot Roast and Julius Thomas may be a better recipe for a Super Bowl contender than keeping Manning one more year.

One positive of Manning to continue playing is that if he continues to play like the guy who played the second half of last year (even before he injured his quad which I think they played up to make excuses for Manning), maybe Brady will see what it is like to stay at the party too long and will retire when his skills start to erode significantly. I really don't want to see Tom Brady do what Marino did and stay two years beyond where he should have retired and be a shell of himself.

Even if his physical skills aren't what they used to be, he' still an extremely cerebral QB.

It's crazy how much their pass blocking offensive line declined from 2013 to 2014.

Their pass protection really didn't decline, though. Defenses became aware that he wasn't able to drive the ball deep accurately and consistently anymore and squatted on the shorter routes. Because of that, Peyton had to hold the ball longer. He's essentially a slightly better version of Chad Pennington nowadays. He's coming back for Favre's record.

Yet despite that, you took it upon yourself disparage others' opinions in your ongoing attempt to decide what is reasonable thought.

Maybe there is another forum that will cater to your purity of gamesmanship, as well as the like minded joy of having a goal post firmly lodged in your posterior.
