IF Wes Welker retires from NFL, will he sign 1-day deal with Patriots?

I wonder how people's tunes would change if Butler doesn't make that pick. Edelman better than Welker? Ahahahaha

Are we talking about 2015? Sure Edelman is better, Welker is basically a vegetable now. In their careers? Get real.

Granted, Edelman is plenty young and has a lot of time to catch him.

LOL

Edelman is better than Welker, sorry. The fact that you act like it isn't even a contest is laughable.
Edelman does everything Welker could do and more, AND he's more clutch.

He's also the best punt returner in NFL history and, oh yeah, has the highest passer rating in post season history lol. Yeah, when Edelman isn't catching touchdown passes, he's throwing them.

Get the hell out of here with this garbage. Edelman is a freaking machine.

He's a Minitron.

Why are you holding it against Edelman that he had to ride the bench behind Welker? It's not his fault we had veterans in front of him, and the 2 TE set dominate the passing game and didn't allow him many snaps.

Edelman has always been more athletic and certainly more clutch the last two seasons. Welker dropped a relatively easy catch in a Super Bowl in his prime, and one that Edelman makes no problem.

Knowing what we do about Edelman now and of what Welker's career was, I'd take Edelman 100% of the time. Edelman does everything Welker did + plus more and does it better.
He didn't "have to" to ride the bench. If he was better, then he would have gotten snaps over Welker. Just like he did in the start of 2012, that's when the tide started to turn. But with the constant injuries at the TE position, the team had to turn to Mr. Reliable Wes Welker as they struggled. Remember all that "Belichick is phasing out Welker" crap?

And it's funny that people make it seem like they've always loved Edelman and that he's always been great. I remember there was a span of years where he was called "Edelperson" here to imply he's just another guy. He's gotten A LOT better in the last 2 years.

Based on what, stats?

Troy Brown had only one 1000+ yard season. His career high of about 1100 yards was nowhere near Welker's 1500 yards. Brown also never had more than 6 receiving TDs in a season.

Are you actually going to sit there and claim Welker was a better receiver for us than Brown because his stats didn't measure up to Welker's? If so, you're one insane mofo.
Yes.

Wes Welker won many a fantasy championship...

Go find the "Welker is a Bronco" threads and you'll find me in them saying Edelman is gonna' be the man. Repeating something you heard someone say and applying it to random people you're trying to argue with is pretty half ass. Edelman made it clear as day he was going to be Welker+ in 2012 before his injury.

Thank you for letting me know not to take any of your opinions seriously.

You must LOVED Peyton Manning.
I'm glad you feel the same way about me that I've felt about you since your idiotic thread the other day. Cheers!

Maybe its because my Welker Jersey hasn't left its place in the closets next to TY Laws, Lawyer Milloy's and Chad Jacksons Yes I said Chad Jacksons.
Now Welker like Edelman played like a animal and with reckless abandon early in his career, made catches ran amazing routes and third and short everyone and their mother knew where they were going with the ball and it didn't matter 95 percent of the time he made the catch. That drop in the Superbowl like everyone else made me want to curse his name and throw things.
At the end of the day he made countless plays and us talking about him I'm such a negative way isn't doing him justice.
I still disagree about Bill benching him for the foot comments and according to Wes Bill was never warm to him.
Some people just don't click, seems like Bill allows Browner,Gronk,Edelman to say whatever they want now it maybe because deflate gate but Bill didn't stop us from talking before the game which is the same thing Wes did and he got punished.
That being said thank god for Julian Edelman and Danny A because we have those same type of quick, shifty, scrappy, tough players and I love them.
Throw Lafell in that category because what we have now are tough receivers and that's the difference between us winning and losing a Superbowl.
I don't want finesse players I will take tough every day and twice on Sundays.

You must be happy your favorite QB has decided to play another season.

Are you 100% sure they make that catch? Edelman was tied for 6th in the league in drops. I cam vividly remember some of his drops. Do I hate him for it? No, it happens.
I'm guessing you missed the superbowl? JE & Danny made all the tough catches. You can have your stats I'll take the Lombardi :)
Did you see the 3rd & 14 catch with the game on the line that JE made while absorbing a crushing helmet to helmet hit from Cam Chancellor? Case closed

Welker was better than Edelman, without question. Only the most biased Patriot fans would suggest otherwise.

Without question? Please. First two years as starters with Brady as QB are very comparable.

Retire Welker,Fresno?..what's this, a prequel to your future "retire Mankins" jihad? Your welcome to YOUR opinion, but when you start calling other members stupid and imply YOUR superiority you get other posters who normally wouldn't give a shyt to raise THEIR antennae. The Patriots will do what they see fit. Until then, relax. St Paddy's day is coming...think of all that cabbage you obviously love.

If he made it as "clear as day" that he would be Welker, then why would they give Amendola a stupid overpriced contract? Come on son. The dude was made of glass his entire career until recently, they couldn't rely on him. No one could, that's why he got a veterans minimum deal in 2013. he has stepped up big time and has been great recently. That's why I hate arguing with homers like you guys, you make me diss players I love just to drive some sense into you.

I didn't even make the thread, and stated in a post that I wouldn't let him retire as a Patriot. Just making sure people don't treat this guy as if he played like Reche Caldwell his entire career.

I hear Welker is a beast playing Madden 15.

Tyree's catch, which happened in a different game, has nothing to do with Welker's drop.

Try again.

You listed Rodney in your 'clutch players' list, yet he was on top of Tyree during the helmet catch. He should've come up with that play, no different than Welker should've come up with the catch. Sh!t happens. Not every great player makes the play every time.

I'll give you one guess. (Hint: it was NOT Rodney Harrison.)

Who is this? Charley Harrison, Rodney's twin brother?

Probably still feels disrespected

You know what I hate? I hate listening to people who insist "nobody could" just because they couldn't.
For what it's worth, I was an early defender of Ninkovich when people started calling him Stinkovich, too.

So please get over yourself with your "nobody could." Some of us were straight up shocked that Edelman ended up back here after being allowed to test the waters given the Patriots offer.

Welker signs a 1 day deal with the Pats and Belichick will trade him for nothing that same day to some loser team like the Raiders or Jets just out of spite.
