IF Wes Welker retires from NFL, will he sign 1-day deal with Patriots?

Some folks seems to forget what happened to Ty Law (have to feed his family). Remember him? He wanted top $$ and left the Patriots.

Years, later Ty Law was inducted to the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Ty Law did far more for the organization than Welker did.

Ty Law has more TDs in the SB than Welker does in 3 appearances. I find that incredibly hilarious.

Different people are going to have different opinions, but the way I see it Bill Belichick and Wes Welker did not have a good relationship towards the end of his stay.

I think that is apparent in the comments made by Welker who basically stated such, as well as the way that Belichick handled the process.

When you take all of this into account, I don't see anyway that Welker has anything to do with the Patriots organization for quite some time--possibly until Belichick retires. Just my opinion, though.

I don't really think you understand what you're talking about. Everybody makes "clutch" plays at one point or another. What makes someone a "clutch player" is the magnitude of those clutch plays and how they affect the outcome of the game.

Pats built their dynasty on the backs of players like Troy Brown, David Patten, Deion Branch, Wille McGinest, Ty Law, Adam Vinatieri, Rodney Harrison, Tom Brady, etc etc. Real clutch players. To suggest that Welker belongs anywhere near the same category as these all-time Pat greats is an insult to them.

He was nothing more than a player who accumulated yards and TDs but came up short when it mattered most.

I know you don't understand what you're talking about.

Who let Tyree make the helmet catch, by the way?

Cognitive Dissonance. Look it up.

No he didn't. He threw it where it couldn't be intercepted and it bounced right off Welker's hands. Not saying it wasn't a difficult catch to make, but Welker drops a lot of passes his `replacements` would of brought down.

If Tom throws it inside, #21 intercepts it and it's a Peyton Manning in the Superbowl.
It was Wes's chance to be clutch and he wasn't.
Let me start by saying that welker should have made that catch... But man your joking right. Buddy there wasn't anyone within 5yds of welker. #21 could not have intercepted any pass on that play even if he was getting a piggy back ride from revis

No. He was right there.

If Tom throws that ball towards the numbers, #21 can make a play

What makes Tom the best is that he puts the ball only where the receiver has a chance to make a play not many 50 50 balls but when your throwing to guys 5ft 9 and 5ft 11 you have to put the ball in a tight window and Brady is a perfectionist at that.

Wow, some of you are such bitter babies. It's embarrassing.

Welker is twice the receiver Amendola even 4 years older and in a half concussed state. If the thought that Danny Amendola is better than Wes Welker ever crosses your mind, whew, I don't know what to say. I don't even have an answer for that degree of cluelessness.
How about Edelman?

Guys the leading receiver in franchise history and helped us reach two Super Bowls.

Some of you are pathetic with your attitudes towards him

If Welker stayed his championship losing drops would've been forgiven but the second he chose one of our biggest rivals the love affair ended.

I don't think anyone is going to dispute the notion that Welker was a very good player here, but there's more to it than that.

Why?

So him and bill didn't see eye to eye. He played his ass off here and went off for a pretty meager payday.

I wish he'd stayed, wish he'd made that catch, but I'm not going to hate on the guy and wish him ill thoughts

Edelman has already proven to be more prime time clutch than Welker ever was. If he stays healthy I see him surpassing anything Welker did.

Would Mankins retire a Patriot? Is winning a Super Bowl a prerequisite to retire a Patriot these days?

Wes Welker made great plays for us while he was here. He was our run game in 2007. He was one of the top punt returners in the game. He took his hits and for the most part he caught passes. He had as good a career he could have without winning a ring and starting on the Dolphins.

Its no love lost if he doesnt retire a Patriot. Not even sure he'll retire. But if he wants to retire a Patriot then give him the one day deal. Gotta let the grudge go and bury the hatchet.

Why? If he wanted that, he shouldn't have thrown the Pats and Bill under the bus in the media after he left.

Wishing ill thoughts and not wanting to see him be able to return to New England after going to a Peyton team for the same or less money aren't the same things.

The Krafts say they made him a serious and competitive offer. He didn't take it because the lack of 10 million dollar offers coming to him in free agency wounded his pride.

Welker left because he was petty, period, end of story.

You want to write him a song? Go ahead, write one. Want to throw him a parade? Throw one.

But don't call the rest of us pathetic because we don't want to shower him in roses after his Superbowl bid with Peyton ended in failure
