To answer the original question for this thread: no. I think the way he left here kind of killed any chance of that happening.
However.....
The bitterness and venom being spewed out by certain posters is pathetic. Trust me, I'm just as disappointed in his drops in the SB and AFCCG, but he was still one of the top 10 Patriot receivers of all time. Let's not forget that he was easily the best Patriot in SB 42 (11 rec., 100+ yards) and would have won the SB MVP if the football gods don't gift Tyree that catch. People who just bring up his drop in 46 are probably the same "experts" who are convinced Bill Buckner was a god awful player. Were both men solid players? Yes. Did they have one bad play that essentially cost their respective teams titles? Yes, but they're still solid players nonetheless.
Would I want Welker back on a 1 day contract? Not really. Do I think we still need to respect what he did here? Yes.
And for what it's worth, give me Edelman everyday of the week over Welker.
