Joe Namath: ‘No One Has Ever Played the Game Better Than Tom Brady’

I actually like Namath. He's the last NYJ quarterback who was worth a damn and he's always blasting the franchise when they screw up (which is frequent). Now he's praising Brady. Gotta love it.

Class act, which is an odd thing to say given the pantyhose ads and the boozy Suzy Kolber kiss. Still, in that interview and probably in his life in general, he seems like a class act.

Love his foundation. What a great way to both help himself and offer help to others.

I watched the Frontline documentary from a couple years ago the other night. It was the first time I saw it all the way through and not just snippets. It was extremely scary and sad and made even angrier with the NFL (which I wasn't sure was even possible especially after the last few weeks). I'm relieved to see that at 71 Namath seems to be doing well and he has taken positive steps to deal with his own brain health. I feel so bad for all the guys who are suffering and really didn't know, thanks to the NFL's greed and selfishness, that they were doing this to their brains for life.

The best thing about Namath really is that fur coat he had at the Super Bowl last year, and that's not taking anything away from him, that thing was amazing.

Always a great guy and a great competitor. Too bad he had too much to drink and that's all some people know about him.

In his day, he was as cool as anyone out there, never a show off like people think, he just had "it."

watched namath's football life on nfl network a few weeks ago...very enjoyable.
what a life he lived!:D

I like Namath, and hey, if I'd been drinking all day, I prolly'd wanna kiss Suzy too!! He was just being honest.

Does anyone remember his local venture with Derek Sanderson and Ken Harrelson... "Bachelors 3"?? This later became Daisy Buchanans.

Went there one time with wife and friends, sat next to the owner of the Chicago Blackhawks who bought us a drink... after a while he looked at us as if it were our turn, we left could not foot the bill for his party of 8.

Hate in football was not a familiar term then.. it was just a game.

Those are names that bring back memories. I used to work at Brandies in the 70's , among other places, as a part time job and in the summer. IIRC Namath was a partner in it, or maybe he was a partner in the Brandies in NYC, I don't know for sure. The place later became a good spot for music. Bonnie Raitt used to play there all the time. Room full of Blues, James Montgomery as well, Rod Stuart and the Winter brothers once showed up after a concert and jammed with local bands till dawn. It was very cool

Daisy's was one of the big hangouts for pro athletes in those days, especially the Bruins of the 70's (they had many ;) including a bar I worked at). I think if finally closed recently. That's a long run for a bar under one name.. Derek Sanderson owned a place called Zelda's that was a hot spot for a while. We played softball against each other in a bar league. One game He used my glove when we were at bat. Hey, at my age , you have to take your highlights where you can get them ;). Those were the days. Young, dumb and a head full of hair. :D
