How do you think Welker feels ?

Seattle's defense wasn't hurt last year...I'd say their defense was inferior for the SB vs last year...but it doesn't matter.....Patriots won!

They had virtually the same team on defense and as far as injuries our Hightower had the exact same injury as their safety Thomas and the Sherman injury has been reportedly overestimated. Plus we lost Mayo and that's a lot worse than Kam Chancellor having a bruised bone or this old mcl injury we are now hearing about. Teams get beat up and lose players but ultimately the beaten up Pats defeated the beaten up Seahawks.

True, but my point was Seattle's defense wasn't hurt last year and they were beat up bad this year. You didn't counter my point at all. The Pats didn't beat a better Seattle defense than Denver lost to last year.

But again, it doesn't matter because we won.

Dinks like you are why Patriot fans have such a bad reputation for being obnoxious dolts.
Stop acting the part.
PS - how old are you??

Although I agree with you that post was childish, I don't care one iota what our fan "reputation" is.

Does anyone?

But yikes. His NE career has a Super Bowl win on each side that he wasn't part of.
Kind of like Pete Carroll was between Parcells and Belichick if you remember hard enough.

It's not a question of caring. I've been a Patriot fan for a loooong time and have no use for the obnoxious dolt crowd. I find them embarrassing "to the brand". They're our version of the Red Sox pinkhats although the pinkhats are pretty mild and harmless, not obnoxious and knuckle dragging like the dolts are.

What? You do know he was traded and had little to no saying about the situation

Its really quite simple. Mankins was asked to renegotiate his contract because the team no longer felt he was justifying his deal. The Patriots gave him a number and he said no. They then traded him to TB.
If he was willing to take less money and restructure, he would not have been traded. Cash over rings.
Sorry if I did not make myself clear!

I feel sorry for his physical condition but professionally, WW got what he deserved. BB and Brady took him from obscurity in Miami, made him into statistically the most productive slot receiver and watched him come up short unlike Troy Brown and Edelman when it counted the most. Then he rejected a fair offer from Pats by overestimating his worth only to sign with the Pats most dangerous rival out of spite. Now ringless, he can retire and look back on what might have been.

He has no chance of getting in the Hall. I don't know why people keep saying that

Meh, Ty Law went to the Jests and we forgave him eventually. Drew Bledsoe went away mad but now he is solidly back in the fold. Time heals all wounds or wounds all heels, or something like that. I'm not that mad at Welker. As the question of the thread implies, he probably feels like crap right about now.

PatsDeb, I believe you make a solid point in general but it's not applicable to WW.
Law, Branch, Mankins etc etc....say what you want about their departures but it's hard to fault a guy for wanting more money. I don't see that as saying "no" to the Patriots as much as "yes" to more money.
WW plainly and poignantly said "no" to the Patriots, throwing pot shots at BB as a cherry on top. So as far as I see it, WW lost his chance for that immortal nod from the Patriots or Patriots Nation that, maybe, others who simply opted for more money do.

Look, Welker was for the most part the heart of the receiving core for years. He was one of the main reasons for the Pats success for years. I feel a little sad that he missed out on this one. I also feel bad, that at age 33 he should consider retiring because of all the concussions.

Edelman, however, has been absolutely clutch.

I wish I could retire at 33 and not work another day.

his last three years here the pats had the worst defense in NFL history so its not all on him but like others said i dont care what he thinks he did what he felt was best for him and his fam that's the NFL no hard feeling just don't care

I don't know Strag, I seem to remember some of the above saying things like, "I've got to feed my family," and "I believe I was promised my job back," or words to this effect which made a lot of people mad, but eventually everybody kissed and made up. I cannot believe that Drew Bledsoe didn't have some parting words for BB (though he didn't say it publically in so many words). I'm surprised at your anger at Welker. If anything, us winning this year, with him sitting on the sidelines after the crap year he had, makes me feel a little sorry for him, as he clearly made the wrong decision. He played his heart out for the Pats when he was here, and I think he and BB had both had enough of each other when he left, so I'll welcome him back in a few years if he's nominated for the Pats Hall of Fame.

Amen my brother.

Ps: Powerball up to 500 million.

Can you say Plan b???

If I remember correctly the Pats offered Welker two contracts that were worth more than what he got from Denver..so this is not one of those Pats are cheap crapola threads..

His agent overestimated his value.. and he rejected both Pats offers..

IIRC he ultimately signed for Denver at about the same money he rejected from the Pats. I think his agent and his wife filled his head with nonsense about how much he was worth and it became an ego thing where he felt disrespected. Giselle's comment about how Tommy can only throw the passes not catch them too might've contributed to Wuss's butthurt.

Doesn't matter, he wasn't clutch when it mattered. Choked twice. Hope his Hooters pillow is enough to make him feel better.

Welker was a very good regular season player for us. But when the spotlight shined the brightest he choked. End of story. If he hadn't dropped that big catch in the Superbowl, he would probably have at least 1 championship ring for us and might still even be here.

All things considered I'm glad we moved on from Welker. Edelman has been an absolute beast for us. And Amendola caught a huge TD pass in the back of the endzone that I fear Welker likely would have dropped.

We won the Superbowl and we are moving on to next season. Whatever Welker feels, I could care less. He chose to goto the Broncos and he can try to win his ring there. I don't hate Welker, but I've definitely moved on from him.

Haaaaaaaaa . You jinx . Champs baby !!!

Kind of a pathetic comment, considering the vast amount Welker contributed to the Patriots. They wouldn't have been there but for him. He was a great player, a brilliant player, who made a huge number of wins.

And don't blame him for leaving the Pats, blame the salary cap. He's a receiver not in the league for all that long given all he's been through, he was way underpaid for much of his career, and slot receivers don't always have such long careers because of the beating they take.
