Denver Broncos might not want Peyton Manning back

I think we should do our best to keep the dysfunction "in house," much like a family does.

I wouldn't want any other fanbases to see the amount of freaking out that goes on when the opposition kicks a FG to start the game.

My posts would be different if I knew they were going on the opponents Jumbotron. Jets games would be a blast.

That would be AWESOME. Farve going to the jets all over again

Maybe we'll get another moment like this:

Manning on the Bills would be a nightmare. All the Bills are missing is a quarterback.. they have every other piece of the puzzle

Broncos fans lost all their hopes on Manning and after this last one and done it seems his teammates too.

I see 2 good choices for him in case they part ways.

Arizona:
Pros - Good weather, at least 9 games in a dome + a San Francisco game. Team with talent for a playoff run, HOF receiver, good defense, good coaching. Team desperately need a QB.
Cons - It's still a tough division and the NFC in general is not the piece of cake he's used to.

Tampa Bay:
Pros - Crap division. At least 8 games in Florida weather + 2 road games in a dome. Team desperately need a QB.
Cons - Team not ready for anything. Crap field. Lovie Smith as a coach.

Could just be leveraging him to take less but I think the Broncos are seriously considering moving on and blowing it up this off season. If you are going to blow it up this be the off season to do it.

One of the things I love about the patriots is they don't "Blow it up" and start from scratch. the broncos have an elite team, and a QB that turtles in the playoffs. the thought that they might reboot it is insane.

The team just gave carson palmer a huge contract. they are not going to be able to give payme the money he wants.

Manning's apologists have evolved over time. It used to be that he failed due to his defense. After failing with an elite defense for several seasons in Indy and then another high-caliber/elite defense for three years in Denver, now it's because his coaches are dismal.

By the way, Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, and John Fox have all coached other teams into the playoffs and are all considered successful head coaches even without their Manning years.

As a bonus note, the "idiotic" Philip Fullmer who held Manning back during his years at Tennessee somehow pulled off an undefeated national championship the year after Manning left.

Who is Denver going to get that'll be better than Manning?

The only team that makes sense is the Texans. Good team, bad division, good weather/dome.

Manning really only has 1 viable place to go if he leaves Denver.

Houston- 10 dome games and 2 games in Florida. Has the defense and running game that could beat Indy twice. Which probably means they win the division.

If manning does get released, almost 100 % chance rex ryan brings him to buffalo.

I'm sure Rex would want to but there is little chance it would be Manning's first choice. Houston, Arizona, and St Louis would probably be much higher on his list than winters in Buffalo would be.

Live by unfounded rumors.
Die by unfounded rumors.
Haven't we learned our lesson as Pats' fans?
The only thing to do with an unfounded rumor is ignore it.

If Peyton passes his physical and wants to return, there's no way Elway would tell him to go away or make him take a salary cut. THAT would become Elway's legacy as Broncos' president...the guy who stiff-armed Papa John's Peyton. I just don't see Elway wanting that to happen.

Personally, I'd rather have Elway's legacy be as the guy who had the fantasy that he could win an SB by bringing in an aging QB who had proven time and again that he couldn't get it done in the postseason and who stuck with him for four years as the fan base became more and more frustrated at promises unfulfilled.

I could, however, see Elway hedging his bet by adding another QB. But, finding and being able to pay another credible QB with that roster is gonna be tough. I guess it would get a little easier if Welker retires, as another "unfounded rumor" says that he is thinking of doing.

I think we should make a sub-forum for any thread whose premise involves a "source" without actually providing a name.

Interesting thought. Purely hypothetically (because I don't see it happening), I don't think Peyton would go to play in snowy Buffalo but would look for a nice cozy dome.

How does Buffalo have any more talent than the Denver teams Manning has failed to win with? Playing in Buffalo he will have the same 1 and done playoff run he's had 9 previous times. He must realize he no longer has the arm strenght to contend with poor weather conditions. He's actually been extremely lucky with good weather in Denver with exception being the loss to the Ravens a few years ago.

Interesting idea, but then half the threads would have to be moved. :)

(Note: that is a sarcastic comment, not intended to be taken literally, in case anyone missed the :).)

If Peyton would be willing to take the vet minimum he could come be our third string quarterback. It would be his best chance at a ring.. :D
Since he'd have a lot of time on his hands, they could put him in charge of deflating footballs and taping Defensive signals. On his off day, he could spy on the opponent's walk through.
