Sounds Like Peyton Manning Is Coming Back

Tom Brady approves.

I'm sure the 4 time Super Bowl champion is looking forward to a Broncos beatdown in the backyard in 2015.

Will be interesting to see if him playing like crap had more to do with the injury or his decline.

Peyton Manning has a $21.5 million salary cap charge in 2015. That cap charge is made up of a $19 million salary and a $2.5 million prorated bonus charge. I can’t see any scenario under which Manning is released, but if he were to be released it would need to be done before March 9. On March 9 Manning’s $19 million salary becomes fully guaranteed. If Manning retires the guarantee does not matter

If Manning retires or is released his “dead money” charge is just $5 million against the salary cap. The reason the number is so low is because the Broncos used a pay as you go structure with Manning due to his neck injury and the Broncos internal strategies with most contracts. This was very different than Manning’s last contract with Indianapolis in which Manning received a $20 million signing bonus. Manning made $58 million from Denver over the last three years.

He could end up in warm and domed Phoenix

Never doubted him coming back and I don't hold any of it against him if he wants to break Favre's records. Personally, I would rather see his name next to them than Favre's. I still enjoy the matchups between him and Brady and personally think Peyton is one of the greatest QB's to play the game. As much as his playoff stats might suggest, I also think he wants to win another SB as much as anyone, Can't fault him for that.

They key to being really great is knowing when to walk away when you still at the top of your game, do we remember Favre when he was at the top of is game or in his last season??

No matter what he does he will never be considered as great as Brady..

The dome isn't going to do a lick of good if the problem is his arm. He'll spend his time throwing ducks to the sidelines and getting his receivers killed over the middle.

Every D Manning faces will most likely do what the Colts did to him in the playoff one and done. Clog the middle, and dare him to throw sideline routes until he proves he can make those throws.

Elway could sign his FA receivers and go with Osweiler, and still have a good team. Or he could gamble on Peyton's health.

He is going to go out like Marino rather tha Elway. Marino stayed at the party way too long chasing personal records. Marino should have retired about two years before he did. Manning is on that trajectory. I think it hurt Marino's legacy because he is never mentioned among the top 3 of all time even though he held all the records when he retired.

I don't think Marino is excluded from the discussion on top 3 of all time because of his last few seasons. I think he's excluded because he's not one of the top 3 QBs, and I wouldn't even include him in the top 5.

Maybe before Brady and Peyton, he was in the discussion, but he's long been bumped. I'm not saying Peyton is in the top 3 discussion either, just that he'd have to be considered ahead of Marino.

And imagine how much worse it would look for Peyton if his team didn't win a championship in spite of him in 2006 when he threw 3 TDs vs. 7 INTs in the playoffs but still somehow won a ring. People always make fun of Trent Dilfer winning a ring by not getting in the way since he had an incredible defense behind him, but he at least managed 4 TDs vs. 4 INTs that year.

Glad to hear it! I love to hate Peyton. Without Peyton I'd have to turn all my hate to Rodgers and that wouldn't be quite as fun. Hope Peyton comes back a bit healthier and able to play a few more seasons.

Another playoff one and done for Pay-a-ton Manning.

Nah, Manning's arm will be toast by week 8. Nationwide's premium on that noodle arm must be outrageous this year.

Elway better draft a backup quarterback this year. He's gonna need one.

I think he may regret it big time and if they start out 1-4 or 2-5 I can envision him getting a season-ending shoulder injury (wink wink) so he doesn't have to suffer through that type of season...What can I say, I"m cynical.
Remember Denver went all in for 2014. What happens after you go all in is not a pretty sight afterwards...

JUST GO AWAY!

He will retire the day he breaks Favre's record, be it week 9 or week 14. He will fake an injury ,call a press conference, shed some tears and walk away from the game to avoid another embarrassing PO loss... I mean come on there is only so much insult a man can take right?

At least we will know that 2015 is it for this epic QB rivalry.

One more time between two of the greats? As a football fan...sure why not?

I thought he would after Brady and the pats won this years super bowl.

And that is exactly what Seattle did to him in the Superbowl.

Well... I hope we play Denver late in the season. It is an away game for us and I can't remember the last time we won @Denver. I think we took an intentional safety (hiked it through the uprights) the last time it happened.

Early in the season, Peyton is as healthy as he is going to get. Later on... Father Time will catch up to him and we should be able to get the win.

Manning is still better than most
SB has made many here forget that even crappy QBs have beaten the Pats or given us close games
I would like to see one last Brady-Manning game

If healthy he might not be the guy to carry the team on his shoulders all season anymore but he might still be good to throw for 250 yards and 2 or 3 TD's in any given sunday and that in today's NFL is better than the average quarterback play. What their front office should do is recognize that and draft / sign FA that can give him this support. Better O-line and running game.
